I am sure Elwar paid more than that for his seastead.
I very much doubt it. I have been watching the whole process and they were admirably frugal right along. They used local labor, welded up the spar out in the open, not even in a shop. Dragged it around with whatever they could scrounge up. Elwar is NOT profligate with his money, they shopped around for their little boat for some time, and ended up buying a fixxer upper. I would be quite surprised if there was more than $120K into the prototype all inclusive. If i recall, i think Elwar wrote somewhere that he and his girlfriend did not fund it, just agreed to live on it for a brief time. Also I think I remember him saying 130k was raised for it, but I dont know if that was all of it or just partial funding. My memory could be off on these and Im not sure if it was a WO post or an article.

I remember reading that the bare bones model was only about $40k, but after adding in the generator, solar panels and desalinization doohickey, the price easily doubled. Plus another $20k if you want amenities like a kitchen and satellite internet. The seastead itself is quite affordable but everything that makes it worth living in sounds quite expensive. Not to mention travel costs.

I don't know why would anybody risk his life to build a "seastead" while you can buy one of these: BAVARIA C57 The interior is huge. There are people who actually live on these boats. Life is too short to risk it against dumb/corrupt governments. He already has the money to buy even a bigger boat than this and can live with his girlfriend without worrying about anything. exactly my thinking. if BTC hits 50k this year I'm going to buy this exact boat and name her "Hodl & Pump"

I'm not sure if you've noticed but the ^^^--- don't care about such things. Thats why stories like the one Hairy linked just die but everyone knows what retarded thing a Kardashian said. They forget it because they just don't care, the world is full of pop culture mush minds and it just gets worse everyday. On a side note until I googled that image I had no clue what they looked like.

Please tell me that was an empty paper wallet and you did not just post a private key.
Of course it's empty, thank you for your concern. Btw I was actually contemplating on throwing in a few sats just to see what/when/who maybe. I had a couple more drinks instead.

Did Fudsters run out of Fud? Remember in 14 and 15 when US Marshals would announce a Silk Road Bitcoin auction every time we had a strong rally. No more auctions. China Bans dont work anymore. Chinese Miners cant block Segwit anymore. Big Blockers already forked themselves into irrelevance and shame. Craig Wright Fud isnt moving the market anymore. Bitcoin uses all the electricity in the galaxy doesnt work anymore. What will Fudsters do now? ? Is this the end of FUD? 100k soon ?? Add this ... Mt. Gox coins no longer held over our heads like an axe. Fud will show up after the first major dump by the institutions and they will be coordinated just like 2019 with seized BTC to help them along. But if we can absorb that ammo then they will be in for a rude awakening. Of course then they will get newly printed fiat to accumulate for another shot at it but at least that takes time.

You don't want to be in that when the swells are up there and with that you cannot build your own Coral reef and work toward self sustainability not to mention the upkeep on that will be prohibitive very quickly in that location.

It is frustrating waiting isn’t it my friend. We could be sitting on absolute gold mines but most of us have to wait for the price to increase fairly significantly to realise those riches.
It’s frustrating working, kissing ass at work & continuing about your daily business when in a few years we can probably all say ‘fuck you’ & walk out.
Nothing comes easily so patience it is. One day brother, one day.
Ugg.. so feeling this... Made doubly so, since upper management around here has seemingly recently adopted the attitude of "the beatings will continue till moral improves" .. 63... that's my number.. 63K... the day it hits 63K, I put in my notice.... hookers and blow will, unfortunately, have to wait for an order of magnitude above that... Just make sure you don’t sell everything at 63k. Whatever you continue to HODL can act as a pension pot when you’re old & wrinkly. State & bank pensions fucking suck any way. I don’t even know what 1 bitcoin will be worth when I’m retirement age but I’d be willing to bet it’ll be a fuck load more than if I put £200 a month into a shitty bank based pension. My bank has charged me over $150 in "courtesy fee's" this month.

True, I believe the main objective was to make it cost effective for the average American so the line was probably around 100K and he posted a bare minimum spar price of 35 or 40k IIRC. Don't quote me on that <<--shit my memory sucks.

Despite previous info, maybe they are not out of danger just yet. "Police have contacted all relevant agencies to determine what further possible legal action can be taken aganst them, in addition to charges under Section 119... All laws relating to this matter will be enforced," Pol Maj Gen Wisarn said.
Section 119 of the Criminal Code relates to national sovereignty.
VAdm Sitthiporn Matkasem, the 3rd Naval Area commander, said the couple's action had affected national sovereignty. They had put a floating house in place and invited others to join them at their location, which they claimed to be autonomous.
"It affects security and challenges the state power of Thailand and it is intolerable," he said. "It is on rented land... Officials will check if any nominee runs it. Any government officials who were involved will be decisively disciplined," the governor said. Fucking pieces of shit running that country.
