Just imagine finding a USB stick on the street, all crushed by passing cars, and taking it home, repairing it, and discovering that it contained the private key to thousands of BTC. Wet dream?

Has happened to me once (sans the BTC). Found the remains of a USB stick on the street (only the PCB had remained, and badly damaged). I tried to repair it, but couldn't. Could it have contained Satoshi's coins? No one will ever know.

I'm paranoid like that...

Paranoid people — at least those who think the issue through — don’t pick up random USB sticks found lying about.

Well, Rush is now saying that Corona is just the common cold, so bearish for Bitcoin.

Hm.

On average 650 000 people die every year from "the flu", millions if pandemic.
90 flu-related deaths where report in North Carolina so far this season and in Oklahoma 36 death, just 2 states.
There is no reported death from SARS-Cov-2 virus in US to date. The total death from any coronavirus in history is less than 5000.
HCoV-229E and OC43 the two common cold viruses give a running nose thats about it.

The flu (Orthomyxoviridae) is in another league.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5220206.msg53898245#msg53898245

The Australian health authorities are projecting in a worst case scenario, 600k deaths from Coronavirus in Australia alone.

That would equate roughly to 150 million deaths globally.  That’s a tad worse than the flu.

What would suck is finding a wallet.dat containing the addresses which display thousands of BTC, but then realizing it was encrypted and of course you don't know the password, and it could be short or long, but probably at least 20 characters so you just know you'll never crack it. (Or it could just be a watch only wallet, and there are no private keys at all.)

What I'd like to find is an Opendime on the street, and then discover it has been preloaded with thousand of BTC. (or just hundreds.)

Or some bronze metal plate, the size of a credit card, with 12~24 words stamped on it ...

Or an envelope with a one sheet of paper, printed with a QR code ...

No way Trump is up to this crisis. You can't make a deal with a virus. Maybe it'll even get him, and those other boomer politicos.

Donald loves a good firm handshake.

Maybe he will switch to asserting his dominance with a good firm wave.

New French virus case, 18 days after traveling from China. There seem to be a lot of outliers to the maximum 14 day quarantine rule.

I’ve seen a few posters here claiming to have forgotten their wallet passwords. Probably hacked & stole a wallet.dat

What I’ve often wondered is how many addresses still have unclaimed shit forks linked to them. I mean you could probably google image search ‘bitcoin private keys’ & find an address or two with 0 bitcoin but a load of unclaimed BCH paired.

This perfectly decent little house is now infested with children, such is the state of things in this benighted country.
It will have to be thoroughly steam cleaned before it is habitable again.
At least that's what I take from this story

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-51625733
Several schools in England and Northern Ireland have advised staff and students to stay home after they returned from skiing trips in northern Italy.
