Why would you use a pool in a client?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Just checked and I've got screenshots of 6 outgoing 12 incoming, and others for 5, 2 and 1,
Incoming peers are other nodes of the p2pool network AFAIK.

I also had set the --max conns at 20 myself on 11.2 and maxconnection=20 in Bitcoin.conf because my upload speed was being completely saturated sometimes of the day when bitcoind would connect to 50+ peers,
I posted a pic of how much bandwidth I had used daily since starting P2Pool and Bitcoind in server mode randomly,
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=172090.msg1790993#msg1790993
I have not set it currently.

This is the first time I have not seen incoming nodes after about 24 hours of the node being up.

Thanks for the advice.

I have restarted the router as I have seen some errors in the routers logs and restarted all the nodes and miners anyway.

I'll see what happens.

*edit*

Thought I would see how much more bandwidth I had used.

that's 1s intervals,  all bitcoind and p2pool stuff

when it's 5MB/s + it's always a block (*well, usually.  sometimes it's just a bunch of transactions being sent at once.  better - when it spikes to > 20MB/s)

157GB in *30 days is not much.. do you have caps or something?

No caps, I do have to turn the pool off once every other day, could that affect it?

Blimey so can go higher. I'll keep an eye and let you know.

Make sure something isn't eating up your bandwidth. I had trouble until I worked out that bitcoind was munching on mine (though I also turned off QOS which I haven't turned back on yet).
What have you done with Bitcoind?

I just stopped it and restarted it. Whoever was connected must have connected to someone else. Either it hasn't been an issue since or when it has been, I haven't noticed it.

Longer term, I need to turn my QOS back on and put p2pool up in the priorities and bitcoind down (probably down in the crawl category). Though it's possibly I'm going to upgrade my internet before then anyway.

P2Pool needs the entire copy of the blockchain to work, so it's not so much that it works with the original client, as that the original client is the only one that comes with a copy of the blockchain.

If you got messages like that:
Code:
Got new merged mining work!

That's mean everything is fine!  Smiley
How to check that merge mining is actually working? No NMC or IXC for a period of time despite such messages about getting new merged mining work...

Sure. If your miners dont submit shares to pool - it decreases your hashrate. Just ignore it if only it doesn't drop significantly.

You are solo mining the merged coins, they are not pooled.
If the difficulty is high, like for nmc, you will have to wait quite some time. Like months.

Well ... technically, no.
You just may be making your own BTC fork (I you find any blocks) or share chain fork (if you find any shares) which isn't advisable coz it will lose as soon as the internet comes back up.

Think someone should try to decentralize the internet so if part of it goes down, the rest of it stays up and keeps on working...

oh... wait... nvm... :trlf:
