Hi,
I have two questions.
What is the difference between Kano.is pool and CKPool.org?
Also,
I pointed my S9 to Kano.is yesterday, how kind is the start up time for the miner to get paid? Is CKPool.org better?
Thanks for your help

good question.

I stopped mining at kano  I now mine at -ck

This means  I personally like -ck pool better then kano pool.

Ok thanks man. I am literally about to point my miner at cal instead. I rather start fresh with the best pool possible.
I hope you guys don’t mind me asking questions in the near future Smiley

I am officially a loyal member of ck pool. Just switched my new miner to the server.
I’m in it for the long haul.
Any info on start up time or anything else that’s useful to know about the pool?

The pool is small and it takes time to hit a block.

The  pool pays dust kano's pool is yet to pay dust.

How many miners do you have?

lastly.  and here is the part people do  struggle to understand. it pays based on an average of how long it should take to make 5 blocks.

You are a johnny come lately so to speak  so you will need to mine a while to get a full share.

Maybe  on the 5th block  the shares will be full.

Since the shares are based on the last 5 blocks (assuming normal luck)

My group's modest S9 and Avalon farms has contributed 23 blocks to Kano circa 2016 - those were the days where the pool gets up to 10 blocks per day easy esp during Lucky Fridays.

Ever since the banished S9 Batch 1 were said to be bringing bad luck to that pool, I have left Kano pool and moved the S9s and Avalons, to the dark side.... hope to move them all to -ckpool in near future.

They however do solo.ckpool.org once a month for 7 hours to stretch their legs with 1m diff level ports and try their luck.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

I'm not sure which I hated more, that claim or the "math" that "supported" it.  Undecided

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

While most people who've been around for long enough will know there's no love lost between us, I think it's best to leave discussion of his pool outside this thread please.

I've been happily mining with 4 2Pacs (since December, 2017) and 2 Terminus 808s (since April, 2018). While it's not much processing power, it's what I got, and I'm happy about it. I'll add more when I can, but it won't likely be in the TH or PH range. That's for the people with lots of money and solar farms. Smiley

This is the only place I mine. I started at Slushpool about 5 or 6 months ago, but quickly came to my senses and migrated to here. It's nice to see the pool growing.

Good to see you here:) I am mining here with even less hashrate now. With all S9 antminers sold, I have only single Antminer UFO (U3) mining at 58.3 GH/s  Cheesy I will throw more power here later this year. It's my favourite pool!

How many miners do you have?

I only have one S9, might get more hashing power if new better miners are sold this year

So if we’re doing about a block a month, I should be getting a full share in 5 months approx?

At 15P we should average a block every 13 days

well if we grow faster then that it could drop to   3 months or so.

6.5ph = 1 block a month in terms of shares

13.0 ph = 2 blocks a months in terms of shares

we are running 8  or 9  right now.

so full shares  would take about 3 or 4 months.

Now that is  shares to determine your average.

In the 3 to 4 months
we could hit 1 or 2 blocks bad luck
or we could hit 6 or 7 blocks good luck.

What a lot of people don't realize is you don't lose shares so you can get paid once you stop mining.

I stopped mining after block # 2 and got paid on blocks 3 to 7 each was a bit smaller as we hit them.

So if you mine for 2 months and stop you still can paid for blocks hit.

The pool is now officially at 5 x the current network difficulty. You'll see the pool and the miners' herps and lns will plateau now.

That only took a year.  Grin

Part of me LOLs about the numbers and part of me weeps. It's good to be able to make light of the length of time, but as always I find it sad that more people don't mine here and it should have been like 6 months ago.  Undecided

It again confirms just how hard it is to get a pool off the ground again in this environment. Halong burn testing in 6+PH of miners is the bulk of the hashrate at the moment, and wetsuit is most of the rest. If wetsuit's infrastructure update was complete we'd be about 5PH bigger but that's still only really 2 big hashers and not big enough to get us over the curve to start attracting more. Even the zero fee isn't really attracting anyone. It's the curse of pooled mining that there's no disincentive for the biggest to get bigger. That and the fact that the bulk of mining is actually all contracts and agreements with big pools (plus hardware manufacturers competing with their own customers - as Bitmain is doing - is a totally laughable situation.)

If you ran a promo like Kano where you gave out 10BTC to attract big miners, it might work to expand the pool. What that being said, Kano charges .9% so he makes money on his blocks and can afford to "budget" to expand. With your generous 0% fee, your not exactly in the position to do this. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee ~.5% if we could pool the funds to get bigger fish involved, or if we just used the .5% to buy more miners I'm willing to host them. I was on here for a little bit but switched over to Kano because they find blocks and I get paid faster at reasonable fees. I have to pay electricity and this is what I do full time now, so I cant use my paycheck to pay bills. As such, I need a few blocks a month which this pool hasn't been able to provide. If it starts getting that way, I have no problems switching back over.

If you ran a promo like...
Please understand, I'm not running a business here, unlike other pools. This is a service to the community.

Great, and its admirable that you do, but if you charged something or did something to expand the pool, wouldn't it even be a greater service and impact more people? Even a small % to bribe over big miners or buying additional miners to mine and have hosted I think would make a difference to the community. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, if you charged miners $850,000+ USD (like he who I shall not mention), then you could give them back $90,000 and make it feel like a "bonus" too!  Roll Eyes

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

Math is math in the end. Sure there is luck and larger pools but the numbers win out overall and reward is the same here as it would be anywhere over time. You just might accrue more short term. I like the small pool and at least doing my part on decentralizing hash rate (at least the feeling of).
