We're paying now so that everything is ready to go when our chips get here.

I just sent BTC for 32 chips.
Thanks!
Chad
Do you have a previous order in? If not, are you just hoping that none of the chips are faulty? The chance of chips actually being faulty is extremely low. This is a low complexity design to begin with, on an old, tried and tested process node with some of the highest yields in the industry. Avalon chips are tested before being shipped. During shipping there are no pins that can bend or break. Even if by some miracle he ends up with a faulty chip, steamboat has explained that people will be able to buy additional chips to replace faulty ones out of a reserve amount. Out of all of us with extra chips there will be chips left over that we can get a refund for from steamboat that can be used in just such a case. Steamboat works on an assumption of a 1-5% faulty chip rate. My guess is that the DOA rate will be a fraction of one percent.

Seeing that he offers testing, I would assume if there were chips that need replacing, it would be done before you receive your unit. Steamboat to clarify?

Finally got my order in. I was worried I might not make it before the deadline. Order #100000125 for 4 miners sent! If I have spare chips (I bought 4 extra) will they just ship along with the miners?

Earlier he said we could either get them shipped to us or get a refund on them, I'm not sure if that's still the plan.

avalon chips are out of order...so does the order still apply?
They have always been "out of stock". The 10 week lead time means they are being manufactured before Avalon ships them out. The order still applies True, they have always been "out of stock" since there IS a lead time. However, as far as I can recall, there used to be a "Buy" button on that page that allowed you to "pre-order". chips. That isn't there any longer. If you would travel 1 page back in this thread, you will find this... Sooo I guess this means those of us in Batch 6 won't be getting them? Found an explanation: Avalon shop has some maintenance or so.
"We do however need to bring the site down within the next few hours to upgrade for trade-in orders. So if you are running into problems ordering chips and/or viewing orders please do not panic, we expect this update to finish by later tonight ( EST time. )"
I've not seen specific confirmation from anyone that the "out of stock" / lack of buy button was caused by their website maintenance--which they expected to finish two nights ago, and but it still says out of stock. Can anyone speak to whether it's a website maintenance issue, or our batch 6 is not going to happen? Steamboat?

I'm hoping to have some singles made with my extras... Hopefully they just ship them along with my assembled units. I'm sure they will.

The inquiries are mounting.... Ah well, they have a tendency to do that. Often followed by responses, and then more inquiries … spinning wheel, round & round

Just mail steamboat if you have questions. He's probably too busy atm to read all the posts on here. Don't know if he posted his e-mail her before, so I won't post it here, but the people who already ordered chips do have it.

Would it be a problem if I ordered the chips now, and then later upgraded to a Fully assembled unit?

That's how it works. Pay for chips now and when your batch is closer to delivery you will be given the option to pay for assembly. Follow the instructions in the OP to place a chip order.

There hasn't been any info on how to specify how to have your chips delivered. Just assembled. So just hold tight and I'm sure we'll hear more when the chips are closer to arriving.

I'd like to be in on this group buy, and I want to buy 5 assembled boards. I've seen posts from others indicating that they have placed orders (and gotten order numbers) for assembled boards but I don't see how to do that. I've emailed and PM'ed Steamboat with no response. Suggestions?

Any speculation on when avalon will ship batches 1-2 to steamboat? Trying to plan an ETA for budgeting purposes. Also will molex to 6 pin PCI-Express adapters be good for the K16's? Also is there pins to short on the fully assembled boards to power on, or is there a switch? Thanks ionstorm

Page one of this thread has all the information needed to purchase the chips and specify , chips only, DIY kit, assembled and tested board etc.. The people who are ordering assembled boards now, are the "batch 1+" chip purchasers. The ordering site is a private URL only for those who have chips in the order pipeline. If you want to get on the next available "batch" you need to purchase chips first and then wait for your turn to get them assembled into boards if thats what you need. I am just speculating, maybe September timeframe for those buying chips today.
