hey we're in that boat too. the good ship "havent got a clue"
our settings on btce are 19/40 and returned around 8% this month and 21% since we started on the 1st dec. Of course I fully understand that a 20% return in two months is pretty good going by anyones standards but my lack of understanding of EMA leaves me wondering if we could be doing any better.
Please don't flame cause i have read the EMA thread and watched a few vids on youtube and while i understand the concept I'm struggling to use that precious little knowledge and put it into practice.

I recognize understanding of the settings is becoming an issue as our user base grows. We have a lot on our plates right now but I will make it a priority to put something together to help explain each of the settings and the effect changes on each one have on the trading strategy as a whole.
I hope this will be helpful.
Pablo.

beta 2.5.93 seems to be working fine.
It traded both LTC and BTC yesterday. Is reporting balances of both coins. Notifications sent. Offset on LTC backtesting is also working.
Waiting to see what happens now my stake is split 80/20 BTC/LTC when its time to buy back.

Hmm.. the Euro market volume has gone down to near-zero and the value is completely jittery (jumping between 695 and 685 every ~20min) while on average not moving at all, causing random, useless trades at a constant loss all the time. I, too, now switched to TSL trading by turning up all the thresholds to +50%. So after manually buying in at the low points of jitter I'm just holding - if the price rises there might be a profit, but a big drop won't cause me too much pain either if it happens while I'm asleep.
...interesting, the prices at MtGox and BTC-E are behaving completely differently, I guess that's because the market as a whole is still too small to be in any way coherent?

Yes, the EURO and GBP markets on Gox are pretty small; that is why we generally encourage people to trade in USD, alt currency markets still don't have the depth the USD market has and thus are more susceptible to flash changes. Also, I would personally stay away from Gox at this point, not only are they having issues with their Fiat withdrawals but now BTC is delaying as well; l'd be wary. Please let me know if you need anything at all . Pablo.

I'm just looking at BTC-E and it doesn't look half as legit as Mt.Gox. There is no documentation, part of the website is in Russian only which I can't read, looking at withdrawals I can't really figure out how they work, also they say something about minimum withdrawal amounts I'll probably never have in my account (€2000?) and minimum withdrawal fees that are completely ridiculous (€100?!?). They also appear to ask for similarly weird fees on fiat deposits, and when I click on "deposit bitcoins" I just get an error message, likewise when trying to check their terms on BTC withdrawal. I don't see how I'm supposed to trust that site with my money.

Aside from having to use Google translate on a withdrawal confirmation page, I've got no complaints, or problems.

I don't see how I'm supposed to trust that site with my money. Hey , I see what you are saying, and I respect your opinion on this, you make some valid points. The core of the issue for me though, and this should be the core with any bank or bank-like institution is access to my funds. Mt. Gox is experiencing multi-month delays on Fiat withdrawals and multi-day delays on BTC. This suggests a liquidity issue. Going off topic a bit here, but it is my opinion, and I have expressed it elsewhere before, that the only reason there has not been a bank run on Gox yet is because they have that aura of trust mentioned, at the end of the day however, if you can't access your money, all those seals and certificates don't mean much. I don't have anything against Gox, I just think BTC-E and Bitstamp are safer solutions at this point; 18 months ago, Gox would have been the only and most legitimate player in town; things change. In the end it comes down to what makes you comfortable and I completely respect those still banking with Gox, my 2 cents are just that me, personally, would stay away from them. Pablo.

Sorry for still being OT, but while we're at it (I'll stop after this, promise!): Bitstamp actually looks nice, anyone have experience with them?

I just wanted to echo Pablo...
Stay away from Gox... I have been using BTC-e and while they have their quirks, they have been pretty solid so far... I have had coin with them for about 4 months with little to no issues at all...
I will however say that their customer service is crap!

08.30 - order imminent 09.00 - order triggered (1 LTC) 09.30 - order triggered (1 LTC) 10.00 - order triggered (1 LTC)
Shouldnt it have bought 3 @ 09.00?

Hey BigLad , Could you please send me your logs as detailed below? I will look into this now: 1. Go into the "manage extensions" page. 2. Enable "developer" mode by checking the "developer" box in the upper tool bar. 3. Go to the extension and click on the "generated_background_page.html" link. 4. When the new window opens, choose the "console tab" 5. Copy and paste the info there to pastebin.com as close to the time of your issue as possible and send it to me. And: 1. In the developer tools open the network tab. 2. If it's empty, press F5 to reload the extension and wait a few minutes until there are some requests listed. 3 Then right-click the list in the left pane and select "Save as HAR with content". Please scan the file and remove your API Key from the text and send it to us. This will help us resolve your issue much more quickly. Pablo.

I just had an idea to potentially increase profit, would like your comments. Make the bot use limit orders instead of market orders, like this: when a buy order is triggered, place an order at highest current ask price + 10ct - check every minute (or maybe more often) whether it still is at the highest bid price (and lower than the lowest ask, in weird scenarios), if not: cancel and adjust, repeat until all money minus reserve has been exchanged. This would help prevent buying at a too-high price - I've started pausing the bot when there's a EMA cross and doing this manually - at least it decreased my losses

well the sooner you guys get it to work with CEX.IO I will pay. Til then Sorry not interested. There is a strong need for something like this with CEX!!
CEX? Good luck with that. This bot is for bitcoin trading not GH/S trading. In case you didn't get the memo. CEX doesn't only do GH/s trading. They also offer BTC/NMC, LTC/BTC, and BF1/BTC trading.....

I would personally like to work on this after we release alternative strategy modules, I feel like theres it a lot of potential in G/h trading. Pablo.

how does one disable the thresholds so Butter will buy right on the crossover? Not buy 2 ticks after the crossover? Its very hard to find a good EMA to start with when things are trading 2 ticks after each buy and sell

Hi , You can use a very high negative number for the first set of thresholds (like "-50") and a low set of numbers for the second set of thresholds (like 0.01). I hope that helps, I'm here if you hear anything . Pablo.

Fible, if you're looking at trading on CEX you'll need to implement a different trading strategy for the GHash/BTC market.. it swings fast and needs a bot to make High frequency low profit trades to make anything. Of course, this trade strategy would be awesome in the btc market as well so go hard
