Hey Guys,

New to this whole crypto currency thing.
Someone told me about bitcoin way back when they first came out and ignored it. Few days ago read a forum where passive income was discussed and many people were talking about mining and trading altcoin. I had no idea what the altcoin was. Anyway, I started reading about it and realized that there are over 1000s altcoins now. WOW!

Been reading a lot lately in past week and came to conclusion that the bitcoin train has passed, and I should invest in some new coin that is in market recently and hope for the best.

Question from noob here. Is this a good coin to purchase? from reading this forum, it seemed like it is but at the same time getting the feeling in last few pages that it is not.

Also, should I be mining this coin or it is too hard now. I have a old gaming PC with AMD R9 280x. Most of the coins that I investigated suggests it is not profitable on that card and I should instead mine on nicehash. Tried Nicehash for two days and got about $2 worth of shares and need to keep it running for over a week to get the lowest payout threshold. Sad

Personally I dont think the Bitcoin train has passed, people have been saying that since 2011 and look where we are now (thats not to say we wont see some pullback before going higher though). As for alt coins, you ask 1000 different people which is the best to invest in an you will get 1000 different answers, aside from personal bias towards a project you have varying levels of risk and potential reward, you really just need to do your homework and decide for yourself.

But before you enter into the space make sure you are intimately fimiliar with the terms "FUD" and "pump and dump", you will encounter them alot Wink

IMO this project has a lot of potential, a lot of the s*** slinging is from people who just wanted to turn a quick profit by dumping their ICO as soon as they could but one of the other ones I would suggest looking at (on top of Bitcoin of course) would be Zencash. The are tons of others out there with potential but make sure you do your own homework before investing and dont just take someone elses recommendation on face value.

The markets still young and there is a lot of volitility so if you are just looking to get your toes wet I would start with Bitcoin and go from there.

It amazes me how quick people are to turn on a project they "believed in" after something goes wrong.  Nothing is lost.  In fact, these "investors" that are crying they can't access their coins should honestly be THANKING the devs that they didn't let all their coins get stolen.

It wasn't the devs responsibility to ensure the safety of those coins, only to deliver them.  It's no different than a bank requiring proper identification before they'll let you withdraw your own money.  Otherwise, anyone off the street could walk in, claim to be you, and pull out all your money.  Except in this case, the onus is on the user to use strong passwords, not reuse passwords between sites, and maintain good account security practices.  Devs did you a favor.

People need to chill.

And for the record, I'm not an investor, though I wish I had been.  I missed this opportunity but I am mining so we'll see what happens.

This seems good news. Yesterday, this guy was all about hacking electroneum and stealing all etn from it's users accounts.
Apparently, the Amazon team was able to fight these guys off.

As soon as the wallet is accessible, the price will drop to the core of the earth  Grin

This is something we are afraid of, but we'll have to see that that if ever the price goes down to 1 sat price is going to increase, once they roll up the roadmap, everything is happening so fast we are all divided now but let's see after a month.

I would come back in a week and see what's happening with Electroneum then.  People seem to either be overly optimistic or hate the coin.  The reality should be clearer in a week from now.  Perhaps BiblePay might be worth a look, you can mine from the wallet using the CPU and it works with low end PC's.  Might be a long shot and I know it could be controversial but at least you can get lots of coins.

I bought about 5800 ICO coins... would be up 5 times if i could sell them now.. oh well.. as long as i don't lose my 0.01 BTC investment i am happy.. ICO's don't make you rich.. unless ETH or LSK.. those days are gone.
Instead of complaining.. just wait or start cpu mining.. at least you will earn a few satoshis.
When you buy an ICO coin you take a huge risk especially if there is absolutely no reason to hold onto ICO coins. Besides who would want to at this price!

Mining since yesterday and have already recouped my ICO investment.. thankyou ETN!!

Mobile mining isn't new to crypto either. Most that have been in this game for a while remember MANGOCOINS from a few years back

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=902788.0

They failed..
