Hearn has a solution for all the Chinese miners stuck on the old chain, they can develop their own Chinese-specific altcoin.  Cheesy

Quote
If that's really the case, it seems to me that Chinese Bitcoin is unsustainable and what you really need is a China-specific alt coin that can run entirely within the Chinese internet.

http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/message/34162353/

hmmmm, ixcoin?

That is really interesting.

There's not much to expand on due to the fact a lot is often discussed but rarely is it done so it was difficult enough for me to say anything in the first place.  If/when this test starts and we find out more info I'll add more color the minute I get it.

Cheers!

Nobody lives in London?
It seems a nice place where to talk about iXcoin.

Man, I would love to go to events like that.  Too bad they never have them in the sticks.

as Ahmed said, this was discussed only between Vlad and some btc devs. first  on twitter and then in private, I was included in one or two discussions only on this.  I have never had contact with anyone at f2 pool or cex.  .

personally i am not a fan of the idea but what I want means nothing.

I don't control hash power that can determine what will or will not take place.

I like ix and would like to see it still be around for a while and no test even if successful would satisfy those against the conflict between btc devs and community members now.

I posted earlier in the thread other reasons why I don't like the idea of taking a VERY stable network and screwing around with it.

Will certainly let you know if any changes are coming up. (as long as I know about them)

We all value that you keep ix running in your pool. (guess I should say I know I do and Vlad does, cannot speak for others)

We're hoping to start testing the iXcoin network this Monday to see how well iXcoin scales.  Our hope is to help Bitcoin with the upcoming 20mb hard fork.  The Bitcoin test net isn't scaling as needed so we hope, since iXcoin is a Bitcoin Twin, to show that iXcoin can scale to 20mb and do it successfully.
What does 'hoping to start testing the IXcoin network' mean exactly? To change the blocksize requires a hardfork and you'd need everyone to update. Having one miner change, even a big one, won't do anything since all the nodes won't have updated and their blocks would be rejected. As a pool mining ixcoin it would be useful to know exactly what is happening in case it affects the pool so I can prepare in advance.

Let's have fun

Metric Units of Weight
1 kilogram (kg) = 1000 gram
1 hectogram (hg) = 100 gram
1 decagram (dkg) = 10 gram
1 gram = 1 gram
1 decigram (dg) = .1 gram
1 centigram (cg = .01 gram
1 milligram (mg) = .001 gram

Metric Units of ... iXcoin
1 kiloix (kix) = 1000 ixc
1 hectoix (hix) = 100 ixc
1 decaix (dkix) = 10 ixc
1 ix = 1 ixc
1 decix (dix) = .1 ixc
1 centix (cix) = .01 ixc
1 millix (mix) = .001 ixc

Too Complicated, especially for the US.

Let's follow BTC and keep it simple.

Bitcoin is going to bits so for iXcoin we should use iXbits, or Xbits.

Simple...

You're the rider

The bicycle is the economy

Bitcoin is the big gear

and here are all of the side chains

What the chain in the middle is, IS still up for debate

so of course theres going to be different techniques and confudled contraptions for the chain mechanism. Just look at the path of that chain, goes all here an there and around that and through this.

;} it was the neighbors hehe.

so in terms of options to chain everything I believe we have a few options.

1. Omnicore. hmmm, do we know anyone with the omni community Wink

2. jl777's MGW (multigateway)

3. Centralized service such as Shapeshift

4. Do it our selfs.

They're preparing for it.  But I did confirm that it will be a live test and not a closed testnet.

I don't know what's best but if I look at the iXcoin Eco system I would say this is gonna be #3.

from http://blockstream.com/sidechains.pdf

A sidechain is a blockchain that validates data from other blockchains

So for ixcoin to fit the definition of a sidechain it would need to be validating data from bitcoin or other sidechains.

Maybe this validation is in the form of an easier or cheaper way to hold dust?

Maybe this validation is for holding counterparty/omni codes?

Maybe all transactions under a dollar get validated by ixcoin?

Maybe some transactions are requiring of the no inflation ixcoin has?

(thinking outside the box here. What if ixcoin could atomically talk to omnicore, and then omnicore interfaces with bitcoin of course? Mr. Terpin is an omni guy. Maybe this is something they can review.)

Five of China's biggest mining pools — AntPool, F2Pool, BTCChina, BW Mining, and Huobi —
have mutually agreed to a raise of the block size limit to 8 MB. They collectively rejected
Bitcoin core developer Gavin Andresen's proposal to raise the limit from 1 MB to 20 MB,
and instead presented a compromise.

BTW, these pools jointly account for some 55% to 60% of all hashing power on the Bitcoin network.

Ok, So the Chinese complain they do not have enough bandwidth to compete on the free market, and the rest of the Bitcoin community, who has less hash power must listen to them, or they will shut down their Bitcoin farms?

Who's fault is it, that they have slower internet bandwidth? {Their own government are applying restrictions on them, and they do not invest in proper internet infrastructure}

I agree with their suggestion, because I am not in favor of a fork, but not to make it easier for them to mine even more coins than what they are mining now.

They already have the edge when it comes to the hash power... Why do we need to make it even easier for them?

Looking forward to how the coin with not enough users to fill 20k blocks imagines it can fill 20MB blocks.

Baahahahaaa.

Until now I was blind instinct guessing but now I finally know and understand what's going on with this coin and what I can tell you is this:

Half of bitcoin in 2 years?

It's no secret the market is accumulating altcoins faster than bitcoins right now.  Bitcoin is slowing giving up market share to other coins.

Nobody can accumulate more IXC than BTC right now.  There is no more mining going on.

And most alts, ~99% will be dead soon, so nobody of interest is accumulating alts per sé.  What you're seeing now is simply alt-coin speculation and manipulation.  There are only about 10-12 alts right now that are a pretty safe bet longer term.

Follow the security - the coins with high unbreakable security are your best odds.
