Ya, well clearly Kano has other issues beyond 'getting time to debug that crappy code'..  Funny how ck, slush, bitminter, and f2pool seemed to implement the required changes fairly easily without any sort of anger management issues..
Most of his problem is he has great issues with the developer who's maintaining the driver and ckpool and having to look at such code instantly gives him hives, rising blood pressure, bile in the back of the throat and skyrocketing blood sugars from the stress response. The cgminer driver code is, however, mostly Halong's and I spent more time debugging the crap out of it and cleaning it up since it was barely working originally. Add to that the refusal to ever use my code if he has a choice any more means there's no way he'll just accept the changes straight into ckpool from the master ckpool git (which already has version rolling support) since he wouldn't trust me to code a hello world because obviously my code is disastrously bad. The actual commits required to get version rolling support in ckpool are actually quite small and well contained, but he feels obliged to do it from scratch, and get to complain bitterly about me directly and indirectly in the process, but that's his prerogative.

There is one major aspect of everyone's assumptions, about Kano's coding time for asicboost, that everyone is leaving out. Kano
is not running "stock" on poolside. From what I understand, and most people that have been around here long enough, Kano has
spent tons of time improving the code his pool runs on. Personally, I've never coded for a Bitcoin Mining Pool,  but I  can imagine
it is not something to take lightly, after all, people's payouts are at stake here. I do know enough about coding to understand, Triple
Checking the work, and Testing it before calling it good.

So, it's easy to say, so and so did it in X-amount of time, if they are running the "stock" coding. I would believe that every "stock" item in the code thats been changed, has to also be changed in the asicboost code, to be compatible with the "non-stock" code. The amount
of time to do this, is dependent on, how much has to be adapted. If a pool operator has changed very little, it would take less time, and
vise/versa.

Well lets clear some things up here about asicboost (AB).
AB has nothing to do with payments.
AB has nothing to do with poolside stats/UI/etc.
AB has nothing to do with how much or little you have touched a 'stock' pool's code
AB is all about stratum (ie. getwork, getblocktemplate, submitblock, etc. )

-CK can (and please do) over complicate my answers with more in-depth analysis/coding.

Look at CK's git commit if you want to see exactly what was all involved in his adding AB..

So, adding code to a pool, has nothing to do with poolside??? If said code, interrupts normal operation causing pool downtime,
that has nothing to do with payments??? Hmmmm.....I can see you are totally correct.

Lets just wait for Kano to get it all ready!  At the end of the day, he has 200+Ph to protect and liability can be painful if something goes wrong in transition.  He did shown great interest to implement AB into kano.is  lets sit back and wait mean while, lets sing kumbaya with hope that BTC price to rise!

reading through most of these, it seems most people including myself are dirty with halongmining for the following reasons

1. late shipments, if you haven't already completed the claim form by 15th June do so.
$5 a day is pretty poor compensation considering I could have made more money mining during that period with my electricity @ 0.065c USD

2. that im limited to BTC, I actually asked at the time of sale if I could mine any sha256d coin and it was never disclosed that there would be a limitation, limited to mining pools that support asicboost. This was not disclosed at the time of sale, had I know this I would have invested in bitmain s9's

So is anyone considering a class action lawsuit? should we?

Now that we have to deal with the extensions to support asicboost
Has anyone looked into if its possible to implement our own pool server supporting the extensions proxying to upstream pools that support coin switching?

If the upstream pool(s) don't support asciboost then a proxy won't help you.

im still confused about y supports keep claiming all thats needed is a little this and a little that. im even more confused about y phil insists on tryin to throw s9's under the bus (not really because ik the free hardware is his reason isnt that right PHIL?Huh??) with examples of the s9 being ableto use asicboost too. u keep comparing apples to oranges phil. please stop doin this phil. its annoying having to read post after post full of you talkin outta ur butt throwin half asses examples infront of people hopin they agree with u. like i have done more times than i care to count let me spell out the diffences for u and everyone else that might see my posts:

Bitmain/S9

1. listed the hashrate at 11.83th/s when released. the hashrate was on point. later revissions listed the hashrate at 12th/s, 13th/s, 13.5th/s, and even 14th/s (if i mssed a speed sorry i cant keep track of EVERY number). All listed miners and revissions mined at advertised speed with variations well withing the info provided before buyers could purchase them. in other words the hashrate listed was 100% provided and if not they worked to resolve it.

2. they listed the miner as a bitcoin/similar miner. this required 0 changes at the pool lvl to allow the miners to mine there. the list of pools seems endless at this point so i wont go into the details but this promise was followed through with.

3. the power consumption listed was the consumption seen when folks got their miner and this was verified by many people doing amateur reviews of the machines and also by companies. in other words the promised numbers matched.

4. shipping of the s9's was on time from what i can remember. i dont recall a time when the s9's werent sent on time but i know bitmain had a delay with their l3+ miner that i wasnt happy about. bitmain has always provided something to make up for situations like coupons or refunds and i have seen this with multiple models of their machines. i would say 95% of all their miners were sent on time in the window promised. delivery dates are not their problem since every country has different laws for imports and thats causes the largest delay usually.

Halong/T1

1. the listed hashrate is dependent on asicboost which they didnt tell people when they ordered them. they kept it a secret from buyers and the public. the listed 16th/s hashrate isnt achievable for people. they also tried forcing the push to send out underperforming hardware knowing it failed testing. so they lied about the numbers hard

2. they expected pools to change their code to implement something that was forced onto them. i guess they thought every pool would want to have the priv of having dragonmint miners running on their pool?? seems arrogant to me!

3. hid their info about their business and employees so no one knows who they are dealing with.

4. the power consumption is much higher then advertised and the only way to hit those numbers is to lower the speed so you cant ever hit the advertise power/hashrate numbers.

5. instead of compensating buyers for them lying they ignored them even though people paid a premium to have "the most powerful and efficient bitcoin miner".

6. the list goes on really...............

numnutz2009

1. Hasnt received free hardware or money from ne company so my opinions are based on the facts not what im paid to say.

philipma1957

1. talked mad shit about halong mining and their business practices until they sent him free hardware. he made a post assuring everyone that he was going to pay nearly $7k (i believe thats the cost he posted in or about) in bitcoin to halong because he wasnt given free hardware. when asked if he paid he replied with no i havent paid yet which that reply was already way after he claimed he was going to. he provided no payment verification to back up his claim that he was going to pay and has since started ignoring every post related to him proving that his words r his own and not ones hes paid to post. he also had no issues with receiving hardware at a special discounted black friday rate of $1500 even though he wasnt going to be buyin them until way after other folks paid $2k+ per machine. he thought it was fair for him to also be put at the front of the line...ahead of folks that paid months and months ago. special pricing (free) plus expedited delivery ahead of everyone else....some people r just easily bought. shameeeeeeeee mr phil. shame indeed.

I spent $40K on miners with them, and Im p*ssed off they are not hitting the numbers advertise
add in the fact I cant mine other pools I prefer, and I cant mine other altcoins with sha256d that I had asked about prior to the sale

I would have purchased Bitmain for the same price out of the next batch (ie waited for the next bitmain order), and would have got them a month before my dragon miners .. my batch 2 dragon miners arrived the 24 May

I also find the Dragonminers really unstable, you try to make changes thye crash and wont start again. You have to power them off for 20 odd mins or reset them before you can do anything. Change pools, change the performance, even static vs dhcp sometimes (all 20 of the damn things)

All I can say is im not dissatisfied with my Bitmain S9 13.5Ts, my 14Ts, my L3+ and ++, my X3s, my B3's, my D3s (well maybe they seem to die faster) or my A3's, or evern my baikal miners

Im really annoyed with my Dragonminers!! and dont think they have done enough to compensate for the limitations

Would I be happy if they release a firmware that allowed to switch asicboost on/off.. Yes, if that meant I could hit other pools and coins
Would I be happy if they compensated for the lower hash rate and higher power use .. Yes
Would I be happy if they paid compensation for the late shipments .. yes

I would expect that of any business

like i said id anyone else is considering a class action lawsuit im all for it

Maybe it would be a better idea to consult a lawyer first. Then they could explain to you that you don't have a case to bring. Suffering buyers remorse and being unhappy with your purchase isn't enough.

Its not buyers remorse when key information is either not disclosed especially when ask at point of sale, or the goods do not meet the specifications advertised

your no doubt someone who hasn’t purchased one and sitting behind your keyboard saying we all have buyers remorse

so let me ask you if you bought 1kg or 35oz steak cooked medium rare and was served something that was half the weight and burned.. would you send it back? would you pay for it? would you be satisfied if the restaurant made no efforts to rectify the matter

Not only does China allow for class action lawsuits and has for a while, they have also amended it to address joint litigation, they have also amended there Consumer protection laws

China has a Class action-type litigation in the P.R.C has been in place since the Civil Procedure Law of the P.R.C.(“CPL”) in 1991 which has been amended to provide for filing a “joint litigation”

China’s National People’s Congress passed the “Decision on Revising the Consumer Protection Law (Order No.7 of the President, referred to as the ‘Decision’) Revision to the “Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Consumers 1993’

The new law covers a range of matters including liability for misleading advertising.

In addition to our rights under within P.R.C someone of us for example myself are also protected under Austraian consumer laws and Im sure others in Europe and America will have similar protections

Australian consumers are already provided with extensive rights and protections under the Australian consumer law.
Under the Australian Consumer Law, consumer goods have to be of acceptable quality and fit for purpose. If they’re not, consumers are entitled to a remedy of repair, replacement, or refund. These rights apply when overseas suppliers supply goods to consumers in Australia

I love how people who really have nothing to say have something to say

Have you consulted a lawyer to get a professional opinion that you have a case? If not I suggest asking for volunteers to join in a class action is premature.

Pretty sure I asked

Is anyone considering a class action?

That was then followed by should we?

And the third time i said is anyone considering it cause I’m all for it

Where I came from that’s a call to understand if anyone else has consider legal action and to understand where they are at. So I can consider joining

But thanks for preempting my next question

If anyone is thinking about it like me, if they want to message me there concerns and location, I can then take numbers and the documented concerns to a lawyer to evaluate if a case is worth following up

That’s how class actions work, a party/group take there case to a lawyer to consider and a greater call for people is published

And nobody showed interest but that didn't stop you continuing.

I just pointed out that you are putting the cart before the horse by not seeking expert legal opinion of whether you even have the basis of a claim.

It looks like you are more interested in trolling a thread than you are getting a class action going.

You also expressed that myself and others in here that are p*as off about miss representation and nondisclosures made by the dragon mint miners is simply our “buys remorse”

As an owner I have corrected you and I have pointed you the laws that do cover this and details why this is more than a cases of buyers remorse

So I choose to hold them accountable reading in here others most likely feel the same

Since you seem a spectator in this, you feel like you have something to input on how we feel about the matter ??

~blah blah

I just see someone that asked three times if anyone was interested in getting a class action going and doesn't realise the fact nobody responded in the positive is a negative answer.

I even gave you some sensible advice on how to go about starting one if you wanted to. You seem far more interested in arguing about things that will not help achieve your supposed aim.

Just getting bored of your trolling.

My bad it was twice. After you asked the first time and absolutely nobody answered you might have taken that as a no.

There are a few determined trolls in this thread that give the false impression that a lot of customers are unhappy. That's far from the truth and the lack of response to your call to arms is evidence of that. There seem to be a lot of people happy to see some competition to Bitmain. Buying a new ASIC product on pre-order has always been a highly risky endeavour and those that took that risk with Halong have come out far better than most of us did back in 2013/4.
