Halong cares what their buying customer thinks.

Regarding warranty, there will be an official partnership announcement made in the next few weeks that will put everyone’s minds at ease.

Halong does not need help with advertising. I personally appreciate your commitment to this community and to your history of making reviews for the public, however, Halong does not need the positive PR. Like I said, if I had it my way, I would send every 4.5-5 user on this entire forum a unit to test for free. But, it’s not my call to make.

Demand is not an infinite curve.  It's almost laughable to think that Halong is going to beat Bitmain in hash and power consumption with their first product to market; unless there is stolen IP inside the box.

There's one of two reasons to do preorders.  1.  Either they need the funding, which you deny.  or 2.  Lock in customers in case of an emergency (such as a competing product from competitor).

Or both.

I've been in touch with Scott and have made plans to visit him early this upcoming week - he's actually way closer to me than I originally thought.

I look forward to meeting Scott and checking out what he and Halong are all about!

As a disclaimer, I don't have any skin in this with Halong - I don't have any preorders with them nor have I been promised/offered anything at all. I've not known of Scott prior to this thread. I'm visiting Scott because of how close he is to me and my interest in the mining field. I've been mostly exclusive with Bitmain in my mining needs in the last few years.

I agree you on that Phil.

They don't give appreciation and value for the review made by one of us.

It's basicly free advertising in the case we pay for the miner.

The money they would earn by showing up the miner would be a greater amount
than the money they think they save by hiding it in the closet.

The real problem is the difference between perceived value of the reviews.

With current market conditions if it was my call to make personally I probably wouldn't bother doing specific BTCTALK reviews either.

No offence intended guys honestly but here would be my reasoning.

1)  There are much more effective ways to reach MORE people by providing verifiable proof through other outlets.
2)  Once sufficiently verified the majority of forum members would accept it as real and discussion of technical merit, quality, logistics etc can be discussed.  Once in the wild the reviews will get here so they will get them.

Now IMO halong made a couple mistakes.  The biggest being that there rep gives off the impression that they assume that the current EXTREMELY rare current market conditions will last forever!

Second was letting someone represent their company that can't control their emotions publicly.  It looks terrible on a company.

Third was releasing information too soon. IF they have the best in class gear and enough cap to make the gear they should have waited until they were allowed to prove it.  Imagine the communities response to such a company as well as the LONG term legacy type PR a company could garner at that point!

Now imagine if this thing exists and they actually manage to piss in Bitmains Cornflakes???

I  had a friend (Tommy) he owned a nice deli in New York.

It had a great location  with no competition he did very well with it.

His kid brother Vinny got married  and the family decided he should run the deli to raise a new family with his new wife.

Vinny was a nice kid  but a stupid shit for brains businessman.  He was nasty to customers  his attitude was my location is so fucking good  that the customers must come to me or walk a ½ mile to the nearest deli.
In under 18 months he crushed the business.  Because customers simply said fuck you and walked the ½ mile to the next Deli.
His brother Tommy took the business back and it was flourishing in under 6 months.

It is obvious we are dealing with a Vinny not a Tommy on this thread.
As I said  I have zero need for the product. When you launch it  for real  maybe I will do a small group buy maybe not.

Good luck when bitmain puts the screws to you and simply undercuts your price like they did with the Sp20

Good call  since at the moment  coins are 2x or 3x what they should be if you base it on using an s-9 at 10 cent power.

@Flying Hellfish
The cost of providing a demo unit for a trusted forum member is so so so small, if the member pays for the miner, that I see zero reasons why not to do it?  Huh

Read my story  above about Vinny and Tommy

this company is run by Vinny not Tommy

I swear the story is true.

So simply  ask what happens when coins and power cost  shifts back to normal?

We hope  that there will be a Tommy to take over but more likely this company will crash out.

My issue about all this was why post here? why have the thread?

Then I realized oh it is a Vinny now I post  here cause it is fun.

The first reason not to would be if it wasn't real.  But assume it is for this discussion.

IF its real...

As I mentioned the reviews will be here eventually.

To me mining is now an enterprise level market.  My background is enterprise level account management in a manufacture/distribution market.  Honestly companies spending millions on product development should be focusing on enterprise clients and distribution centric business models.  Let the disty's mass market for retail sales and focus on manufacturing and selling to big shooters.  There is a reason most large manufactures sell to disty only and it's simple, greater profit.

@Phil You're right the market conditions will not last forever. I mean did everyone just forget that mining was designed as a near zero sum game and is ALWAYS working towards that goal??  And I agree this was a PR shit show, it really did remind me of Inaba LOL which says a lot when I think about 2 weeks from now!!!!!!!!  Pissing on anyone as a company rep is stupid, really stupid.  Add to it what looks an awful lot like sock puppets and to me your concerns are justified, its a solid no go for me.

I don't pre-order mining hardware, I think giving anyone an interest free loan is kinda silly.  Sticking to GPU's I can buy off the shelf thanks!

I apologize for expressing my frustration in an angry manne and demeaning some users. I was frustrated with the terminology thatthe ‘reviewers’ were using to label this product. I think there is a need for them to clean up and standardize their nomenclature so that it’s fair for everyone involved.

- Proven
- Unproven
- Possible Scam
- Absolute Scam

Etc.

Know what I mean?

Here's the problem with what you ask. YOU are the only person who will be held to a professional standard as will the company you represent. Not your customers and certainly not people on the Internet. I spent many years in sales, if you have any time at all in it you should know this.

Why has your account been inactive since 2015?

Personal choice. I've been pretty busy. The only reason why I'm interested in this is how close Scott lives to me, and I'm also pretty interested in mining developments. I've also been a victim in the Alpha Technologies scam, so I can understand the apprehensive nature of a new company that takes orders in a similar fashion.

I also understand that it looks unusual for an old account to suddenly come out of hibernation, so I went ahead and I signed one of my old addresses which I posted in a giveaway back in the day found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=255437.msg3558892#msg3558892.

Again, I've got no skin in Halong whatsoever. I've been pretty devout with Bitmain in the last few years. I look forward to seeing Scott and Halong's prototype in person, and I'll report back here once that is done with my summary of my findings.

If anyone has any suggestions of what they'd like to see from my visit, I'm all ears. I had a few things in mind that I feel would be helpful to the community Smiley

We have already listed a number of suggestions,
but those have all been denied by Halong Mining.

No photos.

No video.

No review (promojo where are you?)

Nothing.

All denied.

NotFuzzyWarm, I'm not sure I understand the basis of your claim. Why do you feel the need to say shit like that? You can't claim it's a scam without proof. Maybe it's different in your country, but in mine it's "innocent until proven guilty". You have no proof that Halong is a scam. You have unsatisfactory answers to your questions. That's about all.

This post is in the "Mining Speculation" sub-forum. If you'd like to start a new thread called "Confirmed Scam", go ahead, but no one is going to listen to you and you'll just embarrass yourself further. I understand some of you "professional, unbiased reviewers" in this forum feel entitled and worthy of receiving a free unit to test for yourselves, but honestly, real mining equipment manufacturers don't need reviews. The equipment will sell and the results will be shown.

So, go ahead and cry wolf, NotFuzzyWarm. You're only digging yourself a deeper hole and will become less trusted in the community with assumptions.

***  Halongmining Dragonmint miner is a SCAM! If someone buys their miners without any well-known and trusted Forum Users 1st getting one for doing a review and posting it here then well, you have been warned ***

I've witnessed more than 100M$ being scammed off the people from this forum during 2013-2014. It's how this forum self defense works. You need to understand why is this happening to you. If you don't understand that it means that you don't understand part of your customers. Why bother to make your story credible so much since you are not taking any orders? Just wait until you ship or until you can show more tangible proof and stop wasting time.

A possible explanation, in case they are legit, to ignore the request for evidence is: they just don't need to give a shit about anything to make tons of money. In the current market you put a crypto banana for sale and you get you inbox full of people trying to buy it. So why even bother? Look at players like Innosilicon or Baikal, they treat you like shit and they sell all they want. I think they could put "BTW: Fuck you" in the signature of their emails and still sell all they want... Sigh...

I understand what you're saying, but these are not deli products, these are money making machines. You can spit in the face of your customers and they will still line up to buy. If at some point supply and demand get to a reasonable equilibrium, and there are enough competitors, then they would need to figure something out. They can come up with "customer care" bullshit later if they need to, people have short memory.

The problem is that this attitude is extremely short sighted...  Believe it or not this FOMO and mining market could change overnight.  Being antagonistic to any potential or future potential client has exactly 0 upside or value while it does create some risk of alienating future clients if market conditions suddenly change.
