Does it help if I say these are real? I can't speak for their production targets times costs etc. but they do hash uniquely different and I've helped work with them remotely.

There will be a tight performance competition between Halong Mining and Canaan Creative.
We don't know yet about Bitmain plans for the next Antminer generation.
Halong Mining Dragonmint T1 16Th/s, advertised hash rate is 16 Th/s and power consumption is 1480W. Power efficiency would then equal 1480 / 16000 = 0.0925 J per Gh/s. Delivery time frame: March-April 2018.
Canaan Creative AvalonMiner 841, advertised hash rate is 13 Th/s and power consumption is 1200W. Power efficiency would then equal 1200 / 13000 = 0.0923 J per Gh/s. Delivery time frame: March-April 2018.

In a earlier DragonMint miner picture that I've seen, the miner was labeled as " DM1". DM1 miner. Click for a bigger version. In those pictures you now posted we can see them labeled as " DM2". Any idea if it is just a production batch number or if there are any differences between models DM1 and DM2? DM2 miner in a cardboard box. Click for a bigger version.

If CK says they're real, seems like there is definitely a miner there.
Will look forward to a Hagsfin review of one.

They didn't give me 'green light' when I asked if I could buy one demo unit for a review, so I doubt I will be reviewing a DragonMint miner.
They also said very clearly that Halong doesn't care about PR.
They think they will sell enough hardware with no review whatsoever, which is most likely the fact, sadly.

Hmmm I dont think dragon, bitmain or canaan will be competing much. It wont matter unless btc rise alot again. The asic manufacturers are forgetting that people buy to profit or at least break even. Antminers S9s are not selling for some time now. Difficulty is too high and set to go higher with so many new miners coming in. If bitcoin has to skyrocket just for mining to have some decent profit, then, it makes more sense to buy bitcoin than to mine it.

Enough people purchased it that they don't need the PR in the form of expedited units for anyone at this point. When the product arrives as advertised, that's all the PR they'll need to solidify their stance as a reliable company.

Im gonna have to disagree with that. Even if the product arrives as advertised they have still proven they dont know how to function as a retail company. I wouldn't give a 5 million dollar order to a company that acts this shady and uncommunicative. I mean their main distributor says he doesn't even knows hes a distributor? There are still too many red flags with how the company has been run these past few months.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

There are still too many red flags with how the company has been run these past few months. If these batches arrive as advertised and there's no QC issues, I wouldn't have an issue placing a 5M+ order with Halong for a future batch, assuming the pricing works out which is another topic. This is further assured by actually seeing the unit in person in early January and having Scott in such close proximity. I agree the company should be more consistent and direct with communicating with people. Maybe they've got too many chiefs and not enough Indians. As for DM1/DM2 tags, I would guess DM1 was their first internal production batch, which was successful for demos and further testing. DM2+ are the general consumer batches.

Very cool. Thanks for being so open, Phil.
Well I hope to get a reply soon. Got a reply I am on track for 5 units in late March. He also said he may send one out earlier then that. Fingers crossed.

Most importantly. What was the hash rate that you observed when you were "working with them remotely"?

Yes, it does help as you are the 1st from here with rep and technical chops to say that. As I've been leaning towards, the biggest question now is more along the line of will they ship on time or put their pre-order Investomers through a BFL/Bitmine.ch/AMT 'just a few more tweaks...' hell of endless delays.

We did twist a bit off track. But I have my reply from Yoshi and here is a followup with 'photos' I personally think this was an advertising method and if you look at the thread it has lots of info and post and interest. I will get a single unit early to mid march then the 4 others late march to early april As to whether it is good gear. ? as to on time shipping. ? as to bitmain selling an 18th-20th at 1200 watts ? but I am looking forward to this in about 25 days

I think your biggest risk is just its reliability. I assume they are sending u a fast unit for a review. Maybe their PR is not so bad after all lol. (Moderator's note: This post was edited by frodocooper to trim the quote from philipma1957 and to remove an off-topic portion of this post.)
