man, the nobody accounts keep on piling up in here.

and weirdly enough whereas everywhere else you can almost guarantee that what they write is rubbish, all the noobs in this thread all claim to be long standing experts who've just happened to drop by to enlighten us.

i can't wait for a conclusion to this in either direction. there's a bad smell hanging over this whole thing from every angle.

In response to unicornflex: On the Bitmain website, Bitmain refers their customers to myrig.com for out of warranty repairs.

https://shop-repair.bitmain.com/user/workOrderGuide.

The myrig link on the Bitmain site goes directly to the same website in Denver, who is also selling the Dragonmint. I know many have had successful repair transactions with this entity, and deem them to be credible for repair work.  Like most, I do not know what Yoshi looks like, maybe those that have seen or met him in real life can verify that it is actually him in the new Halong video:

This just doesnt look good. No offense to Scott and I dont wanna get into another quarrel. Guys, I suggest dont buy halong mining until they have actually shipped a miner in april/may.
Scott seems to have gone quiet. Maybe he is also unsure of things now?

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

Good grief man... this soap opera is insane. I hope colleges use this whole thing as an example case someday. Either a horribly launched company with the worst-ever PR in history... or one of the great crypto scams and how people were so anxious to break the hardware monopoly that they fell hard for snake oil salesmen.

All of the anti-Halong commentary/research/etc. becomes compelling when stacked up. If its a legit company, the only way to prove it now is to just start shipping the hardware. Send a unit early to the first five buyers and let them get busy fixing your PR fallout.

The one part of this that makes ZERO sense to me is how an otherwise respected company (MyRig) could allow themselves to get swept up in it. Multiple people whom I trust have said they have multi-year relationships with MyRig. Multiple people claim to have known/spoken to/worked with Yoshi on repairs for years and have had zero problems.

I believe MyRig operates in Hong Kong. I read somewhere (probably somewhere on this forum) that the location in Colorado receives and forwards the packages to an office Hong Kong for the actual testing and repair work. MyRig has received the tools, and apparently access to the various ASIC chips to be able to perform chip-by-chip testing/repair. So the lack of Colorado information doesn't in itself spook me any. Lots of foreign companies use a U.S. address to instill confidence and have a presence in the USA, even if just a psychological one. Nothing about their legitimacy has been in question until now. The purported number for Yoshi posted elsewhere in this thread is a Los Angeles area code number. Not sure that matters anymore.

As for Halong... who freakin' knows. Halong Bay is in Quảng Ninh Province Vietnam. Are they a Vietnamese company? Has anyone checked corporate registrations there?

Does any of it matter anymore? March is approaching fast... Halong is either gonna shit or get off the pot here soon enough.

To be honest... There is a lot of back and forth. There are pretty good statements on last current page if you check them from @unicornflex, but don't throw your money yet at them, just wait first March to see when will 1st batch be shipped, and when crying starts. All our answers are there.

I find it odd that they are time after time avoiding my thorough question about the exactly similar design with Innosilicon hardware & software.

Usually when I ask this in the Telegram group chat, they just talk about different subject or post memes/emojis.

If it turns out to be a legit company, they'll go down as one of the most tone deaf, ignorant, and least PR savvy operators ever.

I don't believe in it. But is it MAYBE possible that they are not saying anything because of NDA? IMHO i think that is just plain and dumb excuse in this business... Its not like competitors gonna take your mine dissect it and make new one in less then a day...

Well, a big LOL at the NDA in my opinion.  Grin

If you can recognize hardware like I do, after I've had numerous different machines from different manufacturers,
it only takes few minutes to realise that it has Innosilicon hardware and software inside.

So mods deleted my opinion, here's another...Bitmain isn't even selling out the S9's right now...They are available, so why would anyone put any money into these imaginary miners even if they were to be made? the hashrates will be so big and who knows if BTC will recover making it worth the expense or risk of expense?

Dont forget now, delete this

Hmmm real?? Somehow I feel it isnt real. Just my gut feeling. It looks juz like my s9 lol

Imo, best is to depend on philipma.

No! This was already been proofen 20 pages before its NOT like S9.
Its more like INNOSILLICON.

And if you have no idea of nothing, just stfu  Roll Eyes Grin

Meanwhile I enjoy the new video of Yoshi and his short demonstration on blake miners.
He does not need you or this community. He is already IN the deep crypto world.
They have customers who bough 10% of the batch in one sale --- so --- me and you are just peanuts.

But its funny to see people who screamed its 100% scam and vapoware.
Well ... not much left of those shitf*c*s, right? Cheesy

Cheers

Hopefully other companies learn from this, but if you're able to sell $50 million worth of product due to a few vouches on Twitter and a video, they won't.

If it goes well, awesome, everyone will be happy. If it turns out like dozens of other new ASIC makers over the past few years, you'll have a new generation of jaded miners calling every new pre-order a scam.

They didn't learn anything from the BFL et al days so why would this shit show be any different.  These exact same comments were made about learning lessons from all the shitty business practices in 2012-14 and yet here we are here today!  Cheesy

For every new generation of "jaded miners" there will be a corresponding new generation of newbs and optimists.  Just like we have now (old jaded miners and all the newbs that think mining will make them rich!).  As long as coin price keeps trending up in the long term you will see more and more people wanting to mine.

Obviously this behavior is acceptable in this market or it wouldn't be successful time and time again.  I always found it mildly ironic in a community that values decentralization that they would allow companies to take advantage of them so badly.  The consumer has all the power if no one bought they would have to change but sadly greed gets the better of everyone and FOMO kicks in hard.  What if this one is real this time oh man I will miss out on the first batch...

I've got my popcorn out, anxiously watching to see if anyone actually gets their miners. It wouldn't be the first time a miner manufacturer acted...well weird. If they are real, what a shakeup to the industry. I'll take 3 please. (You go first tho!) Seriously, though, you would think there would be some Youtube videos out there with a test model running. They'd definetly sell more that way, but maybe they already sold more then they're comfortable with. All we can do is watch and wait I guess.

What makes you think you're so important that they should divulge trade secrets to a random stranger on a message board? Instead of everyone yelling scam why not just wait until March to see if the first batch of orders ship? The amount of time some of you are spending on this thread is nauseating.

I don't see anything weird with a company like myrig selling/servicing two different brands. I'm still on wait and see mode for Halong, a very weird rollout for a company. At the same time, if it were just a scam, I think they would have ran away with the money already.

Copying Innosilicon hardware and software is now known as a 'trade secret'?  Cheesy

Lol.

I'm not thinking that I'm a important person.
Just for the sake of people who have invested in this a lot of money, I would like things to be as transparent as with any other manufacturer company.

Obelisk tried to be transparent, doesn't seem to be working very well for them Smiley If people buy anyway, they don't have to disclose anything, what for? Unfortunately that's what the market is. Now we are close to March, we'll soon know.
