Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin

In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency.  I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.

What you say is not clear, can you give a reason why it could be like that next year? My personal opinion is arguably impossible because, bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and eth technology based on bitcoin technology though it is more developed, although bitcoin has a problem with expensive transactions, but the very high bitcoin price is what makes everyone want bitcoin.

BTC is still on a driver seat. As first currency it is more stable, it has huge potential and people are investing on it much. So any other currencies as like ETH,may not overtake it because BTC is still manipulating the crypto markets.

Well, we cannot determine or can say what will happen in the next day actually. But in the potentiality that Ethereum has that is very much possible to be happen, perhaps, that won't happen for now maybe later after a years that may come.

Well, it is possible at least.

Basically, if BTC price will seriously go down, it have no ability to recover. Since almost everybody knows that BTC has no cutting edge technologies, its team is not so initiative and in current state its network almost unusable and heavily affected by ASIC owners that are controlled by China manufacturers. And the only reason why most people are still buying Bitcoin - they are believe in its price growth. And they do not know other Cryptos than Bitcoin.

There are lot of possible scenarios but without heavy work from BTC developers and community and pure luck there is no way for BTC to keep first place. Don't expect that situation like Aug-Dec 2017 will last longer.

And first contender is really Ethereum, but that can be Cardano or Ripple too.

I don't think ETH will overtake BTC anytime soon if ever.  The bitcoin markets have been around longer more established most of the ETH hype is from the ICO's.
If ICO's become banned then the price of ETH will suffer.

For me both coins are good and should not over take each other. I believe both should remain strong. Ethereum is good for payment system we can handle single transactions and make our own ledger to check and maintain , on other hand bitcoin is good for bulk distribution. So for me, both are good and both are having there own qualities.

Strictly speaking, comparing Ethereum with bitkoynom is similar to comparing apples with oranges. They were never going to be competitors. Bitcoin was designed as a currency. On the other hand, Ethereum uses Ether as "tokens" for its smart contracts. The founders of Ethereum themselves promote the idea that the ether should not be used as a currency, but the hype forced everyone to consider Ether as a crypto currency.

It's a great idea to use each of the cryptocurrencies for the operations for which it is most adapted. In this case, competition between cryptocurrencies should disappear.

There are so many millioneire bitcoin holders. Will they let ethereum take #1 place? because it will mean that they will be out of the game. Ok bitcoin is going to start loosing power sooner or later but i dont think it will be in nearly future.

I think that both coins are great.But i do not think that ethereum will be overtaking bitcoin right now.If ethereum will still continue rising then it might and there is a possibility that it can overtake bitcoin.

Ether was never developed for a use of currency but Yes, Raiden network aims to bring this effect. If Raiden will be able to succeed, we will be able to send ETHER instantly as money transfer. And it will make the price of ether really high.

i think it is quite possible because ethereum system is very functional and stable mostly.
it acquired many big ICOs in its ecosystem.

It could very well do it, the fact that ripple can go up to 120b market cap from 10b in a month shows how nearly anything could pass out bitcoin. Bitcoin is old tech and a waste on the worlds finite resources. It was good as a start, but now after a million developers got to work, bitcoin is outdated.

Ethereum MIGHT overtake bitcoin, but only because bitcoin will drop in price once people start to realize there are better options than bitcoin. stellar lumens, Ripple, Cardona, and Raiblocks are all better options than Bitcoin lol.

Ethereum keep going up fastly with time, and its keep developping as well, so we predict really shining future for this coin . However Bitcoin still the first traded and hold crypto currency nowadays and in my opinion it will stay in the first position for long time.
