Is there a way to have a pool server where we can have by default all access denied except for registered users, where we ask our workers IP address to be whitelisted? Users without a credible past or violators could be banned for an arbitrary time. Should be not too difficult to add to the webform (register a new worker, add IP address) but of course if the admin site is beeing DDOSsd as well, that does not help ;-)

Autoban for all IP'S who aren't white listed.

When the fuck are these fake "hackers" going to grow the fuck up. 90% of us could do the SAME THING YOU'RE DOING, but it's pathetic, and a true waist of time & knowledge. Fucking kids need to do something a bit more productive with their miniscule lives.

You are giving crises a bad name. Just switch over to a backup pool until db comes back online. Greece is a crisis. This is an inconvenience.

This is getting ridiculous, we pay the 3% because of ease to use and stability. Running home every day to restart miner is not it.
Use a miner -- such as recent poclbm -- that automatically falls back to another pool. Why run home at all, for a simple miner hiccup such as temporary pool downtime?

If the DDoS trafic is so big the logs will not show all the trafic generated by nodes. Also Proxy servers can be used in DDoS which is extremely hard to mitigate DDoS in this case. The first piece on the network will be a router if the trafic generated by the botnet is that big the router can't redirect the packets, and in this case not even blacklist would be useful. Tycho you should consider changing you host service. with the fess that you pay for the service I think you can spend some money on the service. Changing to http://www.prq.se/?intl=1 PRQ would be magnificent. The most resilient hosting that I know. (Responsible for hosting the pirate bay).

You are giving crises a bad name. Just switch over to a backup pool until db comes back online. Greece is a crisis. This is an inconvenience. Crisis is defined in the eye of the be-holder. Some people can afford to loose time more than others. Loosing 12 hours of mining could mean loosing 1 bitcoin, or loosing 100 depending on who you are.

I bet there's more than 10% of "us" who couldn't do the same thing (if they don't pay someone else to do it). Heck, at least 10% are unable to set up backup pools (including you, losing 12 hours of mining work?). Conducting a DDOS requires access to a big botnet. And no, whitelists won't help if it's big enough (BTC Guild banned *every* IP, and they are still unable to offer their services because the connection is at the limit). The guys are criminals - probably not "script kiddies". They don't get what they want (having the botnet mine at pools), now they do this for punishing the pools. I hope it stops soon.
