I understand, but that reply was to 'mudiko' who seemed shocked when I said "site cancelled" Tongue

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

"Decked Out December"

lots of free coins this month from SwC!

https://sealswithclubs.eu/decked-out-december-2/

Looks great.

I have only one thing. You completely forget cash game players. It was good opportunity to do something like
anybody who earn 100 krill will be eligible for the 10 btc freeroll. As it is, you rewarding freeroll players with
bigger freeroll.

The players really appreciate the deck the halls generosity including the 10 bitcoin freeroll. It is scheduled for new years eve which is a problem for those of us who have already made plans. Is there any way you can possibly change the time?

But what about the neckbeards who are going to be home New Years Eve?

Think about the neckbeards!

@Micon, I understand about manual withdrawls and all, but why can't you decrease min confirmations for deposits to 1 ?
Most of the other sites do it, and it gets annoying when you want money on there instantly, but rather have to wait more than 20 mins.

They went from zero confirmations for deposits, to one, and then two.  I only saw this for the first time today, not sure how long it has been two.  There must be a reason they were not comfortable with one confirmation, so I don't see it going back, but I could be wrong.

Only a fool would do less than two.  Really, it would be entirely reasonable to insist on six.  I could see making only withdrawal contingent upon the original deposit having six, but actually keeping track of all that would be a nightmare.

I actually worry that even two is inviting a heist of some sort, since SwC is the only BTC poker site worth caring about.

I am curious about what kinds of risk would less confirmations cause? Since its irreversible and double spends do not get confirmed, wouldn't one or 2 suffice?

Depends on the level of risk tolerance you have, I suppose.  With no confirmations, it seems pretty easy to rip you off.  With just one, there are attacks that could let you see a false confirmation.  With two, it's getting a lot more difficult, but something (not even necessarily a heist) could conceivably break the network itself.

I couldn't articulate the reasons better than they have been, but there were good reasons right before SwC went to two that they did.

But don't other sites like Primedice accept 1 confirmation, and also process withdrawls if there has been only 1 confirmation.
If it was a big issues wouldn't they be moving to more than 1 as well?

Seals could just allow depos smaller than 10 coins with 1 conf, and above that more confs. Seems fair/safe to me.

Is it possible to fake a transaction and show a confirmation on blockchain?
Isn't that what double spending actually means?

You will need some decent mining power. There is this "probability of attack success calculator": http://people.xiph.org/~greg/attack_success.html For example: with 1 conf and 5% of all hash power the odds of succeeding is 10%. To double spend with 2 confs and 5% of hash power, the odds are 1%. I am not sure how this would work in real life situations though.

Since having 5% mining power is way more expensive than those 10 coins, I think the "convenience" for most players is worth more than the "risk", but obviously not without any limit. So basically I think allowing 1 conf instead of 2 conf for "small" depos should be good.

Here is a thread about double spends, and it might reach 1-3 confirmations very rarely, but will never be fully confirmed.
Its only for education purposes Smiley

So how will the password for today's DoD free roll be announced?

Or will it become a public tourney once the start time is closer?

What are the maximum number of players allowed?

Ok Glitch may have done it this time... I let him get a little frisky with the XL GTDs and the daily freerolls, and I see there is a lot of buzz and questions as we near towards our first DoD freeroll, going down in about 1.5 hrs, so I'm going to post the complete info from the site right here as well.

I just deposited the other day and I was surprised to see the 2 confirmations thing.  I think it's pretty difficult to overturn 1 confirmation, I wonder what the motivation is.
