We would already be in the top 10 for volume on Cryptsy most days.  They aren't adding us for other reasons apparently. 

Where did u hear this? If there was no change of been listed in Cryptsy bumface would have told us. I have been bombarding him with tweets all day. Surely we haven't been wasting our time. Where did u hear this or is it just FUD?

my electric costs are over 50 cents per KW ...and I have used 28800 KW mining for 3~4k coins a day looking at the current prices of 10k UTC for 1 BTC makes it a bit depressing

So I tried to get things moving this morning, buying the coin up to .0002.  There was me and one other guy.  We got it up there and then zero support came to back it up. 

Time to face the facts: there's no future here.  Bumface has proven to be a completely ineffective leader.  He thought he could get a dev buddy to make him a coin and he'd make a mint.  Too bad there's a lot more work to put in.  T-shirts and Facebook don't bring BTC to the exchange - connections and effective leadership get the coin to an exchange where there are traders with BTC.

It is pure speculation that there's a reason the coin didn't go to Cryptsy, but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...either Bumface hasn't made any effort or there's some kind of history with him holding it back.

There were a lot more than 2 people buying today, regardless of what he said. And by him dumping, he reversed the positive trend. We need to continue on with everything we discussed today - promotions, tweets, etc. I was ready to give up yesterday and now I'm not.

For the record, I sold at a substantial net loss today (on today's trading alone, not even factoring in the huge loss over the last 3 weeks), and that was after the downward trend was already in full force.  The demand for the coin is non-existent.

For those still here (!) - here is an interesting article about cryptsy. A word of warning. I don't think this will necessarily apply to UTC, but does often happen. The coins that succeed on cryptsy have real value (think PTS, Vert, DRK, doge). Cryptsy will not solve this coin's problems, but being on a bigger exchange AND promoting the value of the coin might.

Mine and dump other coins and buy UTC.  This is a coin war.  Push other coin prices down and see UTC price rise.
That's why the price is increasing.  Right now you can buy more than you can mine.
Takes coin away from the dumpers and put's it in the wallets of the holders.
 

There are many good reasons to take the above approach.
1.  Some people have been doing it a while, but go on this thread and spread fud to drive the price down to hoard more UTC.
2.  Buying some UTC and adding some to the Buy wall will slowly ramp up the price.
3.  This creates volume for UTC.
4.  Higher volume and higher price, causes a more attractive coin for investors and miners
5.  There aren't many investors looking to invest in a coin below a ranking of 20 on Coinmarketcap
6.  Some new miners will dump, but some will hold.  The word will spread and will attract investors too.
7.  A steady to rising price will draw retailers to use the coin.
8.  It will give ultracoin time to rise to the top as a asic resistant coin.
9.  This will also allow time for infrastructure to grow.
10.  By mining a different coin, it keeps the difficultly low making it more attractive to new miners.
11.  Allows you to take some profits on other coins to pay for electricity, without using the coins in your UTC wallet.


There are probably a lot more reasons and maybe you can help me list them.

There are 4 parties here:

1. Ultracoin is dead. Move on.
2. Ultracoin needs to go on Crypsy before anything else.
3. Ultracoin needs a bigger community then demand/exchange will follow.
4. Just believe, pray and hold.

Personally, I'm with #3.

Auroracoin is gaining traction super fast as the potential is HUGE.
More than 300000 people owning 30+ coins each! That's massive.

We might not do something of that scale.

But my idea of Facebook promotion was to at least bring in another 1000+ new & old blood to the mix.
At current price, 5 UTC is still about 50 cents with a potential to become $5+ possibly. So it's still attractive.
My friends and my friend's friends who has no idea about Crypto could now own a piece of crypto for FREE.

So yeah, people who say we need Cryptsy, no we don't. Many coins die when they go on Cryptsy. Don't expect miracles.
We need Cryptsy to want Ultracoin on their exchange instead.

So let's put on a show.

Bumface & xwebnetwork has already done some work of setting up the promotional wallet & Facebook form.
I trust both of them enough to run the show. So let's make them make something of it. Make it BIG news.

People who just say bumface is a bad leader, whether truth or not, isn't the sole reason for UTC not being so successful.
People complaining about UTC dying in this thread isn't helping. They are contributing to UTC dying even further.

Our goal it to get at least 10000 UTC. That would allow us to give away 5 UTC to at least 2000 people.
Maybe about 10% of that might be just people here getting 5 UTC back. But 90% will be new people!
