i organised a group effort to index news outlets and target webshops, and only 2 people have responded......we had 11 pages full of new suggestions, but the actual thing we are doing is moving slower then a snail......

dont scatter the energy over 12 pages of suggestions, and nobody doing them.

lets do 1 thing at a time, and do it effectively, so we can actually achieve something.....

you are wrong, getting on an exchange without proper demand is harmfull right now, we are already on 11 exchanges, getting on a large exchange at this point is unwise, you must make sure people know about it, and actually want to buy it....create awareness, thats why were contacting news outlets now.....no awareness= no demand= no buyers

What are you basing your assumption on? Why would anyone buy into UTC at the moment, it's on a big slide? How would this stop miners dumping UTC? People need a reason to buy something and for that we need ideas, marketing, effort, communication and coverage (e.g. Dogecoin and Auroracoin).

We need something that is NEWS worthy for media sites & blogs wanna write about.

I'm no marketer but maybe something like:
1. A street giveaway of cheap USB sticks with Ultracoin wallet pre setup/installed with 1 UTC.
2. Facebook promotion where we give out 1 free UTC to everyone who likes and comments their wallet address. (At least the first 1000 or more addresses)
3. Youtube video showing how much faster it is compared to BTC & LTC & DOGE. (I think someone said something similar before)
4. Ultracoin character with a series of comics or comical video of it saving people from BTC/LTC/DOGE's slowness.

To lure non-crypto people is to make a scene and also give them some free UTC so they get to "own" a piece of crypto.
Something informative, something outright weird, something that people might want others to check out even for a laugh.

Imagine then this is the scenario:  

1: awareness  AT THIS MOMENT AWARENESS IS AT A VERY VERY LOW POINT AND I DONT SEE IT CHANGING SOON ON A SHORT TERM
2: demand  IF THE AWARENESS STAYS AWAY FOR THE LONG TERM THERE WILL BE NO DEMAND
3: big exchanges  IF THERE IS NO DEMAND THE BIG EXCHANGES WILL NOT ADD UTC SOON

So this means for the upcoming weeks or even the upcoming months:

1: there is no guarantee at all that Awareness, Demand and Big Exchanges will be positive soon for our coin in short time...and also not even for the long time
2: so the price will stay low or will go more down the upcoming period of time
3: mining is al ready at this moment not profitable and even more dangerous because the energy cost are almost to high
4: if mining is not profitable then miners will go to mine other coins

Ok we are then at some webshobs, get some little Awareness....but there are only a view miners left....there is no demand... no big exchanges and no serious traders.

In my opinion this means UTC will die slowly....

From a miner's perspective, in real time calculations:

For me currently:
100 utc/day at .00014000 = .014btc x $570 =  $7.98 - $3.96 electric (750 watts) = $4.02/day x 30 day = $120.60/month x .70 (30% taxes) = $84 per month in my pocket. I net $239/month and get to keep $84. 50% cost in electric is where I draw my line to start looking for new possibilties. 55% electric cost, I'm done mining the coin, unless I can foresee a near-term price jump.

Yes, my electric is high. $0.22 usd. Tax rate might be high too, but I figure state and federal into this and tax rate is also based on a future 10 rig setup.

Still profitable, and will be for most people after my 55% limit is reached. Some people with free electric or cheaper than my .22 will still mine, but UTC is getting into territory that expensive electric miners will no longer mine. Please understand this post is meant to be educational from a real world experience, not a threat to leave or promise of any future action.

For the Facebook promotion, post something like:

"We are giving away 5 UTC to the first 5000 people in Facebook who likes and put a comment with an Ultracoin wallet address!"
"Please visit ultracoin.net and download the wallet to get your own Ultracoin wallet address!"

You can create a spreadsheet and then give the chunks of addresses to the people here who are willing to participate in giving out some UTC as promotion.
I'm willing to give away 5 UTC each to 50 people (250 UTC total) for the Facebook promotion if something like this goes ahead "officially".

Maybe we can get many people to join in so that we can involve like 10000 or more people in facebook to get their own piece of UTC!

I don't agree that people wouldn't be interested. I'm a trader and while I might not use an auction site I would trade a coin that had some use outside of exchanges, because this tells me the coin has VALUE. That's key. Show me a coin that has value and I'm interested.

I also liked the suggestion of a gambling site, and a faucet (everyone has a faucet except UTC). I'd be willing to donate some UTC if we can figure out how to get these developed (and if someone can point me to some github resources, I might be able to help).

Also - jakiman - love that idea - I can donate some to help with this.
