Watching the MintPal order books is very interesting as well. I know its been pointed out, but somebody is definitely driving the price down, for what reason, I don't know. I can tell you its malicious in intent.

For example, a few buy orders were placed which brought the coin back up to 0.00013498, but you can see that someone was creating small sell orders in between to try and drive it further down as to negate the increase in price. I mean for what other reason would you sell low when the price is going up? There is none aside from primary goal of manipulation.

With that in mind, if this problem can be remedied, perhaps a natural fluctuation in price will resume, hopefully towards the bullish side.
The price manipulation will continue until the bots are banned and that will probably never happen.

I don't think it's bots, they react too slowly to be bots

On the bright side, if you are all right and there is price manipulation down, then there will be a push back up at some point in time.  I doubt they are pushing the price down just so people buy cheap coins.

Having said that, I'm not sure it's true.  I think this is just people desperate to get out.  The volume isn't even really down since the day we opened, it just looks like it is because we are selling at 1/3 the BTC rate.  With 4 290x running, the coins I mine are worth a whopping 17 dollars a day.  I don't even know who would dump at this rate besides stakeholders as this is literally peanuts.

Either way, trade with caution on mintpal. There is money to be made, but ya gotta catch it juuuuuuust right, don't let your emotions get in the way, real cut-throat business here.

Look at the order book, 0.58 BTC can drive the price back up to 0.00015, but nobody is doing it.
Seems like buying power is very exhausted in the UTC community. Some one that has a BTC please jump in the buy them all!

It says everyone already interested in UTC is already all in as they are willing / able to be.  We need new blood.  I hate doing promotion, but I'll think more about how this can be accomplished effectively tonight as this is just getting depressing.

Ye lack of buying power is killing us hard. We need constant buying power that at least beat the mining output rate in order to at least stay at current price.

Has there been a miner made yet that can mine in a pool using your CPU?

That's a good question. Let me see what I can find. I don't CPU mine but because this is a Scrypt Jane coin, I'd assume there should be one, especially seeing that at some point in the future, CPU's will be the go to option.

in my attempts to upgrade from guiminer-scrypt-jane to cgwatcher, i was met with this error:

not exactly sure what the problem is, i pointed the cgwatcher to the scrypt-jane cgminer, i used the same flags and settings as set on guiminer...

Whenever you give a service or sell something it has to got an added value to get into the market. DOGE has its popularity as you state. What will be the added value from UltraCoin? Is for all us guys here to define that added value. The coin is really fast for transactions and it is really decentralized, and I like it because my rigs stay at a decent temperature because the N-Factor. (Still I would like it will be less agressive). So in my humble opinion, first we have to decide what we want the coin to be, and then make a market campaign on it.

This is important - we need to decide what we want the coin to be, then promote it, then build what is needed. Some thoughts on how its advantages could be promoted, in a less-technical way:

1. Create a video that shows a bitcoin transaction and a UTC transaction executed at the same time, with a clock showing time elapsed
2. Host a google hangout (or some other live interactive session) to talk about POS and how it works and take questions
3. Host a twitter (or IRC) chat and take questions about scrypt-jane mining and its peculiarities

What I like about this community is how everyone seems to want to help each other. How great would it be if more people were a part of that? The last two ideas above would appeal to anyone interested in POS and scrypt-jane, and could introduce a whole new group of people to UTC.

Giving reasons or providing people with a rationale is not bad.
If you want more out of this coin you need to give people envy. Envy is irrational, envy is vital, and most of it: envy is viral...
The best part is that people don't expect explanations when they've got envy. They want it, they want to snatch it and keep it.
You just want them to jump in and feel good about it.
That's marketing.
Where is the marketing team for this coin?
There hasn't been any since the begining besides lame attempts at trying to gather some buddies around exchanges.

This coin is not going to shine if strategy is not changed.
So far this venture has proven useless and costly to me on the ground that no value has been accrued at all, quite the contrary.

We keep on losing and destroying value because we cannot retain money within, which in turn affects the morale of troups, which in turn often come up with ever absolutely more stupid mind numbing considerations like "being positive", "hoping", "knowing" etc.
We're getting dangerously close to the last of the series: "believing". Are we a church or what?
In other terms stupid religious-like arguments that neither demonstrate nor build anything. They just convince he who is already convinced and that's all. In short in makes fanatics out of a few which pushes even more the average joe out of the game.
This is a vicious circle, the vicious circle of losers.

The last step before getting raped into oblivion will be the guru who will use the believers of the saint church of the ultracoin to pump and dump them out of their wealth. Then we'll get another fine case study of TRC and FTC and whatever else.

Then again, to get out of this pit we need strongly committed devs that will intelligently pitch the coin and make it at least a bit more hype.

Say what you want about hype but we won't attract anyone if the thing's not attractive.

Last, but not least: 50s comic cartoon with supermen likes are nice, yes. But they will not attract women who don't care about this and prefer dogs instead. So try to find a concept that pleases everybody and not just a couple of nerds otherwise you're going to lose it.

The panic selling is confounding. The coin lost 3/4 in a day of it's value with no news occurring. It is clearing being manipulated to scoop up cheap sell orders. I feel sorry for the weak hands, they are truly getting raped.
