Is there anyone that can get UTC some media attention? Articles in news papers, news sites,... would be very nice.

Is this just another 'someone else do this, but i don't want to' suggestion or are you volunteering to do a press release to send out to the media to help the community?

Can you or anyone else write an interesting article on scrypt-jane combined with fast transaction speeds? I don't class myself as a very good "journalist" / "reporter" type? At Let's Talk Bitcoin you can submit articles - http://letstalkbitcoin.com/write/#.UxTbYoXvPBI

KC

I'm busy gathering a following on twitter and bombarding cryptsy with tweets (@ultracoinnews). I didn't say I would write a press release. I'm just sick of people putting "we should" rather than "Im going to". No one is willing to put their own time into helping the community. There only seems to be a handful of us really trying to get this coin out to the masses, and it's really frustrating.  The facebook give away is a great idea and we need more of this type of generosity from the community whether that be donating or spending time plugging the coin to others.

Funsponge,

I'm already tweeting and sharing Facebook. I'm trying to think of ways to get Ultracoin noticed. However, I do understand your reply. Those that took up the challenge of spreading the word of Ultracoin on tweeter is miniscule - https://twitter.com/search?q=%23ultracoin&src=hash

KC

A quick note on this type of frustration and a quick way to resolve it.  This is probably better done on the official forums, but we can self-elect positions so that the people who want to be involved know what is expected and whom to expect it from.  We can stop collectively wondering who is willing to be responsible for what.  Taking on a role doesn't even mean you are responsible for doing all the work, just managing the expectations of the role.  Example:

Media Manager - Coordinates media message and message outreach programs.  Responsible for making sure message is focused and topical.  Sets goals for media mentions in given timeframes.  Coordinates with social media guru to gage success of message.

In the case of the above role, you wouldn't necessarily have to write or edit these messages, just make sure someone competent is doing it.  You wouldn't have to be the one with connections to all of the potential outlets your trying to reach, but you would have to make sure that people with those connections contact you.  Etc.

This all would have to be approved by Bumface, obviously.  After approval, I would hope he is rather hands off on any given role and would only exert veto power.  That's just a suggestion though.  The community could collectively decide whether a person was doing a good job or not and suggest replacements as needed.

Basically, we need structure.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Another thing about cryptsy - if big vern really looks at # of likes on the request, we are way behind other coins. Suggestion - in our tweets, tweet this:

Help us get #ultracoin listed on @cryptsy! Like this post: https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/75770

(or something like that)

and post it on the facebook page

Can someone please give me updates figures for mining UTC after the last N-factor shift?

3.5 MHS scrypt correspond to... how much scrypt-jane?

And how many utc per day roughly?

For settings I'll just find em in the thread, thanks.

I have 2900 Khash normal scrypt. Which gives me 590 khash mining ultracoin right now. Roughly 200 coins a day.

I was also thinking about PoS/N-Factor changes in the coin.

The whole crypto-currency-world moves too fast, PoS after one year is no more attractive.

Changes in the N-Factor schedule would require changes in the miner software too, if I understand that right.

What is the best way to back up UTC wallet? How do you back it up? And what type of storage is best to put it on?
Putting mine in cold storage for a while.

copy your wallet.dat file to flash drive, or send it to yourself via email. you could set up an email account solely for wallet.dat files so no one would ever know.....

One way I guess.  Load a new wallet onto another PC or a different user.  Put your backup .dat into the %appdata% ultracoin file and load the wallet.  It should show same balance.

Was wondering if there was a way to check and see if it accurately copied the coins along with the file.

This guy is writing a book about alt-coins. Let's vote for UTC to be mentioned.
You never know, it might be a best seller Smiley.

Do not worry people  Grin I bought over 17k UTC myself today. The good news is just around the corner. Like I said this is not a pump this only a market shakedown and only those with weak hands will leave sore losers. We maintain pressure on our Twitter, Facebook, and Cryptsy votes and we are sure to win this. I will not give up till this is done and settled. Hang on with me for the entire ride.

follow here: https://twitter.com/JStuhlman

Any updates on this "good news"? We need some right now.

Also - still waiting on updates from Bumface/Ziggy about whether there is a reason we aren't on Cryptsy, and whether they would consider changing the POS/n-Factor scheme on UTC.

Alright, so where do we stand on this Facebook promo? Have we all decided on the final specifications and terms regarding the giveaway? I've been experimenting with paid adverts ($20 here and there) and the value is pretty good. We could make the post and then promote it heavily.

Anyways, not going to do it until we are all ready and have confirmed the details.

@dcgirl

I would like to hear from them as well. It'd be Ziggy as he was the dev, though.

[FACEBOOK GIVEAWAY PROMOTION]

Our goal it to get at least 5000 UTC. That would allow us to give away 5 UTC to at least 1000 people.
We could change the amount to lesser UTC number if value goes up before we launch this promotion.  Grin

Let's make this HUGE so it makes headlines in blogs/news/twitter/facebook!

Promotion Wallet: UV65rd1p2D5TcAihXm4vdSWy89tTLajoEf
http://bitgo.pw:3731/address/UV65rd1p2D5TcAihXm4vdSWy89tTLajoEf
This above address is managed by Ultracoin Dev @bumface.

Current balance = 2450 UTC

What this is about:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=413978.msg5461676#msg5461676

Basically, we want to create a pot of UTC to giveaway for FREE to those who share our Facebook promotion for UTC.
Goal is to make our non-crypto and crypto friends aware of Ultracoin, own a piece of it and tell others about it as well.

319.95622670 UTC heading to the FB promo wallet.  I bought these from the sell side of mintpal along with a couple thousand more.

I sent 100 UTC last night.. signed up just to say Smiley
