what server, thats quite important :-) I configured it using stratum, all is well. Except for the fact that my laptop only gives me a measly 15 kh/s. Maybe I'll get an entire Darkcoin each day, if that.

Made a guide too compiling and mining Dark Coin on cloud service's like DO, dont really think if it's profitable but given the features this coin should get the value might rise a lot more (which is what i hope ofcourse ) + i like refs http://blog.kvvs.nl/?p=239Nice done Thanks! Updated the guide too the latest miner, working nice on DO with a good increase off about 15~20%. Good work on the miner, hope it keeps increasing Very nice guide, thank you so much!

I don't think you'd have that problem here, as the mining pressures / difficulties are what drive the rewards, not random payouts. Correct me someone if I'm wrong???

Someone asked me this via email, I thought I'd post the answer for everyone:
I'm looking for some clarity on the amount of Darkcoins that will be minted. I've read some where that it is something quite large. I'm looking to invest founds into emerging crypto's that have a possibility of longevity. I'm very concerned thought with the total number of coins that will be minted. Please advise. thanks.
--------------------------------
DarkCoin is unique in the since that it has a variable block reward that is based on difficulty. This means that while currently the block reward is 120, when difficulty rises the block reward will fall. Eventually the block reward will be driven down to it's lowest amount which is 15DRK. After that, every 2 years the block reward is halved again. So in 2 years, 7.5DRK, in 4 years, 3.75DRK, etc.
So, we don't know how many there will be, but it definitely won't reach anywhere near 84 million. It mostly depends on how long it takes us to reach the lower block reward cap. At this of rate of growth that should happen this month (it happens at about 100 difficulty).
I've read that variable block rewards are exploitable from "dishonest miners" in coins like dogecoin who switchover when the rewards are low. Could that happen to Darkcoin also? If yes then it is tempting for someone to take Darkcoin code, clone it and say "a better and improved Darkcoin, safe from dishonest mining tacticts" etc. So, without getting insanely technical, Doge and DarkCoin are setup differently. The block reward function in DarkCoin is set on a very even curve and reward is higher toward the beginning. Later on people will forget that it was ever not fixed and they'll just talk about the halving. So there's not anything to really take advantage of, right? After a difficulty of 100, no matter what the blocks will return 15 DRK. When I wrote the reply to the email earlier, I was thinking we'd hit 100 difficulty in a few weeks, but we're already at 600Mh/s for the network (up from 200 yesterday). If this keeps up we'll have a difficulty of 21 tomorrow and we only need 5x the growth of the network to reach that lower cap. So I guess it's a question of incentives, knowing that we're going to cap at some point who wouldn't mine right now? From an economics point of view it's a feedback loop and it should actually make the growth exponential.

Something is wrong with the lottery pool, We're getting 92% invalids, haven't found a block in over 15 hours.. I don't know how long its been going on but thought I'd post here and encourage everyone to check their miners???
At least it seems like something is wrong... But give little information to an ignorant person (ie....me) and she can become alarmed! Thing is, my dash doesn't show any invalids for me, only the pool. So how is that?

if (nSubsidy < 25) nSubsidy = 25; I would push a fork to update it to 15, makes more sense and I think most people would prefer it, it means diff has to be 112.29 to arrive to the minimum reward. Currently network hashrate is around 600mh/s and diff gonna be of 20, so it means once the network hashrate hits something around 3.3gh/s the reward will be minimum. I think 3.3gh/s is doable in maybe 3 weeks? Otherwise if you keep it at 25, we will hit it once the network has a hashrate of about 2.2gh/s. (let me know if I'm wrong with my calculations, wouldn't surprise me much, lol)

Competition:
my mining pool (lotterymining.com) needs a logo
best one gets 1000 Darkcoins
Very cute! I like it! Maybe give them Zorro masks, capes and swords, LOL, that'll do the dark/hidden thing while keeping the fun of lottery going, and that I love cute things, LOL ;p Awesome! TanteStefana got some ideas lol :-) Just to give you an idea, I meant something like this, only I didn't do such a great job, LOL. CHAOSiTEC could then use the other one for other pools he might set up in the future, but for darkcoin, we'd have Zorro! LOL He needs a hat though......... yeah something like that, but keep the text red.. ive been straring at all the pictures all day... lol Okay here we go .

Hey guys. Just wondering how many coins you're averaging per day and what is your hash rate? I'm doing 350+khash/s and I only got like 5 coins in 7 hours. Am I doing something wrong? Doesn't seem like it's worth it unless the price skyrockets like vertcoin. Thanks.

I just have a feeling this one will actually skyrocket. According to cpu-pool.net, 350khs should yield > 150 coins a day. Dunno if that's correct though.
