This is a mandatory update on block 15200!

I've been working tonight on a solution to our "Whale", and have fully implemented Kimoto Gravity Well into Darkcoin. It looks ready to go, all I need is for everyone to update their wallets and daemons

- If you're running on linux, please download the new version from github: https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin
- If you're running on anything else you'll have to wait for the compiled versions to come out
- If you run a pool please update your daemon
- If you run a exchange please update your daemon

Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow ! Can't wait for a windows wallet, will you also be updating the EC2 image?

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I have to say this... I've been apart of a couple coin communities... (IFC TIX DOGE FZ) to name a few. And this coin has been my best experience. I'm excited to see where this coin goes. Thanks, eduffield. Great to see a committed dev and helpful community.

Oh and please excuse my "3 activity"

Do we need to update our miner software? (assuming the pool has been updated). I'm guessing no but just want to clarify.

Hey Eduffield, could you respond to my earlier question about the anonymity?   "About the anonymity, can't you just piece together who sent what by looking at the amounts? I mean, there probably won't be many people sending the exact same amount. So if I'm the only one in a block who sent 10.875 DRK, is it really anonymous?"

There is no need to worry if you are in a pool.  the pool will take care of this.  However, to buy and sell, well mostly sell, you will need an updated wallet, and we all need to update our wallets eventually to receive, but no big hurry there.  Solo miners need to update, of course.

Hey Eduffield, could you respond to my earlier question about the anonymity?   "About the anonymity, can't you just piece together who sent what by looking at the amounts? That has not been implemented yet, there is still testing to do before he does implement it .  So as of right now, the coin is like any other,  however the work he is doing WILL obfuscate the incoming transactions from the outgoing transactions.

OMG, I'm busting a gut, because I'm mining cpu and gpu on my  computer while I write this, the lag caused me to fudge my post, causing the date of Brilliantrocket's post quote to go back 44 years, LOL  Grin

About anonymization, I think if we limited dark payments to multiples of 1, 10, 100, 1000 DRK then it will not be possible to get much information from the amount of payment. Especially if a total amount sent is automatically split up and incrementally sent at random intervals.

Ideally, the overhead of doing it with 1 DRK is something that the blockchain can handle and it will just be a bunch of single DRK going back and forth.

Even if we had to go to 1, 10, 100, 1000 DRK all amounts between 1 and 10000 DRK can be done with less than 40 low level transfers. To the user, it would just be one command, just a question of what the network can handle

The whale might be back. Got 5 or 6 blocks pretty fast and not seeing that any of the pools are getting big spike in blocks...
also total net MH is about double what I see in the pools. Seems like whale might be doing 51%?

Not sure what we can do about this

Edit: correction, http://pool.darkcoin.io/ generated 5 blocks in around 30 minutes! Seems false alert about whale 51%
