The Coming Crypto Resurrection

Right now, cryptocurrency is developing at a record pace, gaining new users, entrenching its economy, and growing more fine-tuned by the day. In the markets, however, it’s a bit of a bleak sight. We’re seeing what appears to be a repeat of the 2014 market crash with 4/5 of the market wiped out over a few months following an exuberant end to last year. However, instead of focusing on the bleak, it’s time to take a look at the bright future. Just because people are writing cryptocurrency off as dead and buried doesn’t mean we won’t see a glorious resurrection shortly thereafter.

There are a lot of attacks against being levied against cryptocurrency right now. Timed to coincide with the healthy market correction, regulatory bodies around the world have threatened action while major social media platforms have banned advertising. Things are looking rough for now, but this is not a coincidence, but rather a coordinated attack. Those getting freaked out about crypto should take into account the level to which it has been targeted, and take this as an artificial state, not simply a normal correction.

Hi guys, I'm a Dash enthusiast since 2 - 3 years. With all the development, integrations, new features and public appearance - Why is the Dash Price still so connected to the Bitcoin price and how can we change it?

A big problem is that it's still difficult to purchase dash in any large quantity without first buying bitcoin with fiat on one exchange and then moving the coins to another crypto-only exchange such as Poloniex where the BTC can be traded for dash.  This is called in finance "liquidity". Bitcoin is more liquid.

In the U.S., You can buy Dash directily through a service called uphold.com, but they limit the maximum purchase to $500/day. At that rate it will take years to accumulate enough for a masternode, and if the price rises enough it may never be possible.

The obvious way to change it is for more exchanges to allow direct dash to fiat and fiat to dash sales.

The other way is for more online vendors and brick-and-motor business to accept dash for payment.  We need to eliminate the need for conversion to bitcoin and ultimately the need for conversion to fiat. This is known as the chicken-and-egg problem.  Liquid commodities are widely accepted for trade because they can be re-traded to others.  Nobody wants to build the infrastructure if the commodity isn't being used and nobody wants to use the commodity if there is no infrastructure to support it. Dash as an advantage with this over other cryptocurrencies in the form of community support willing to bootstrap acceptance and a treasury to help integrate vendors and educate the public.

MailChimp Bans Cryptocurrency Ads

MailChimp joins Google, Facebook and Twitter in banning cryptocurrency related advertising on their platform.

The mass email marketing manager, MailChimp, announced on March 29 that they intend to ban any “businesses involved in any aspect of the sale, transaction, exchange, storage, marketing or production of cryptocurrencies, virtual currencies, and any digital assets related to an Initial Coin Offering.” The company quickly received backlash from users and the online community blaming MailChimp for censorship. MailChimp defended its position saying they needed to prevent “scams, fraud, phishing, and potentially misleading business practices” from being facilitated through their platform.

However, MailChimp said that they will not ban all cryptocurrency related information and that “as long as the sender isn’t involved in the production, sale, exchange, storage, or marketing of cryptocurrencies”, emails can still be sent. MailChimp elaborated that this includes discussion of cryptocurrencies by journalists and publications, but did not elaborate further on how the platform intends to differentiate between the two.

Dash Venezuela Making Great Headway in Caracas, Hosting Sixth and Seventh Conferences

Last month, the Dash Venezuela team requested and received funding from the network to host a sixth conference in Caracas, Venezuela. The conference will take place on March 31 and the facility has room for up to 600 attendees. Additionally, the Dash Venezuela team has been invited to speak at another event called “Help! There’s cryptocurrency in my soup!” According to Dash Venezuela’s project manager, Eugenia Alcala, that event will have

Does Dash Meet the Coinbase GDAX Digital Asset Framework Criteria?

Coinbase is the largest, most important, exchange in the United States. Including Dash would be beneficial to both Dash and Coinbase’s customer base. Since Coinbase has come out with a more empirical process, I decided to measure Dash to their standard of acceptance. As you will see below, Dash more than meets their requirements, and considering Dash’s role in the world of cryptocurrencies, I contend it is the most obvious “next coin” to add.

InstantSend Back Online on the Dash Network After Edge-Case Exploit Fix

In a post today on Dash’s forum, Dash Core lead developer Udjinm6 announced that DIP0001 has been officially locked in to take effect within the week, enabling the InstantSend spork to be safely turned back on:

Earlier this fall, a potential vulnerability with Dash’s InstantSend function was discovered that could in theory allow an attacker to initiate double-spends on the network. Though this exploit had never been successfully tried and would only be possible in a very specific and difficult edge case, the Core team quickly shut off the InstantSend spork until the vulnerability could be fixed in the 12.2 update. Two totally different projects nowadays. Monero is still focused on fixing their privacy issues whereas Dash is focused on mass adoption scaling and being easy to use digital cash.


Monero has not had the best of luck in the privacy department latley....

A well-respected cryptographer earlier this year released a tool called http://www.monerolink.com, where you can link all transactions from 2014-2016 with 100% (due to blockchain timing analysis apparently), and all transactions from 2016-2017 are linkable with a probabilistic distribution dependent on mixin size. So they have a table on the site, 1 mixin transactions are linkable 86% of the time, 10+ mixin transactions are linkable 22% of the time. Monero has fixed this bug since January of this year, but if you used monero on a DNM between 2014 - Jan 2017, BEWARE!
