I know I sound a bit as a nutcase conspiracy theorist, but is there a way to see what are the posts that were deleted from this long thread?
I wonder if they obtain innovative ideas that perhaps someone doesn't want others to see, or just rubbish...

Expectation of a MUCH higher price in the future.  Although maybe still better to mine other coin and sell to buy DRK, not sure...

Yea, actually if you would just mine other thing and DRK you will actually be helping DRK by increasing value by buying.

Mining it makes no sense  Huh Huh Huh

The major problem I see with this, is that if everybody adopts that strategy the offer for that other coin will be quickly greater than the demand and its profitability will decrease. By the time you mine a decent amount, chances are that its value will be very low. Therefore, you don't get that much DRK unless you are among the first to sell.

I have to do X11 because of temperatures and no other X11 makes sense at the moment. Besides, my mining it reduces total supply a tiny bit because of the block reward formula. That raises price. Tongue

You could mine LTC or VTC with half your rigs or reduce intensity and get the same power consumption and heat as if you were mining X11 and still have more profit...

Price is dropping a bit (which is not good for my current holdings) but I plan to buy a bunch more this weekend so it is ok on the other hand.

Vote to get darkcoin added to peerbet!

Its already winning 36-2 over mastercoin but might as well use this community to make it more lulzy.

Why does the hash rate follow the price of darkcoin so closely?

As a miner, that is just plain stupid.

There must be multipools working the network.

I think some are still hopeful for a BTC increase in value and may be going back to BTC. They will however be back!

Coin is highly unprofitable atm, I wonder why the difficulty still keeps going up

If I use 0.4$ / kwh in coinwarz (which is slightly lower to what I get right now in my tiered power bill - at almost 0.34 euro / kwh) DRK tops the lists as the most profitable coin. Actually the least unprofitable coin as I'd be mining at a loss if I continued - as they are all mined at a loss.

For 320kh scrypt / 1MH x11 / 160kh scrypt-n, it's DRK first -1.07$, HIRO second -1.08$, EXE/VTC -2.23$ and it goes up to -4.5$ for the least profitables.

this is great info! Are there any VPS hosting companies you'd recommend checking out? I see GoDaddy offers it but at $30/month. I saw someone mention that you can get a VPS server for as low as $5/month...

Also, all the instructions I've seen so far refer to Linux/Unix server. Can the masternode be setup on a Windows server instead?

Linux only I believe and the best bang for your buck is most likely a Digital Ocean / Linode VPS ? 5$ A month on DO.
Amazon is free. AWS service. Kinda scary at first but you'll come to love it

Amazon isn't entierly free.  Bandwith charges.  It seems to flutuate daily, some days it's $0.20, but others it's been $2 a day or so.

Yep. It's pretty funny how many people out there lack the vision to see longer than a day or a week. They run around like a mob of chickens with their heads cut off, throwing their money in random directions with the faint hope they will become rich. They have the foresight of moles and the attention span of goldfish. They don't care about coins with legitimate futures, unless of course they heard about it in trollbox, in which case they buy at the top and bang their heads on desks when the dump truck buries them in shit.

A perfect assessment. But, these are the general population and they will impact any altcoin. Don't let them throw you off.

Is it better to use a t1.micro at ~ $14 a month or is there still bandwidth charges?

True, people plug in the hash rates for different algos and moan that DRK is unprofitable. When you manually enter half the hashrate for scrypt/scrypt-n (because X11 uses half the power, at least in my case) DRK is right up there at or near the top. Alternatively, double your X11 hashrate in the calculators for the same power consumption when comparing to scrypt/scrypt-n and you get a more accurate picture of profitability.

I'm really not too sure.  I just checked my costs (which is for bandwith only). The last two days my costs have been $0.10, and $0.08.  Very low, But the previous three days, they have been $3 a day.  I guess it's all releated to what they're doing.  Maybe Evan was testing something.  More volume.  Not too sure.  Hopefully it will stay around the $0.10 a day mark, rather than $3. lol.

Anyone stupid enough to trust their $$$ and their liberty to a 3rd party browser plugin deserves the inevitable poverty and jail time that will ensue.  Kiss

I always thought this was a horrible design decision. I applaud their efforts but implementing it as a browser plugin ensures I'll never be using it.

You forget that most people are fantastically stupid and far too lazy to learn enough to realize what a terrible idea it is... Widespread adoption is all the devs are concerned with, and they'll get it. Cost to the users for being ignorant doesn't matter.

As with all the IT stuff I grew up with... Getting something to just barely work is all that matters. Getting to to work correctly and securely, well, that's way too much trouble so why bother since most people won't notice the difference until it's too late. Look how these same people vote...

One thing I don't understand, why there hell is Darkwallet geting SO much press, with it's inferior centeralised technology, while Darkcoin gets so little? It seems the major press, and places like coindesk.com only post on bitcoin...or litecoin or dogecoin... that's their limit.
