bad things happen.

things get delayed.

It's funny how people have different perspectives on this.

I'm a software developer.

When I heard he was delaying the launch I thought GOOD ONE !

It was too good to be true that a beta test go off like clockwork with no problems and issues to be gone back to think about and recode. It was sounding to start a bit unreal.

But now that this delay has been announced I feel comfortable again that there's something real going on here. Ironically that's put me back in the market for more coin. Stuck an order in at 48 and got it filled.

In addition to that, from a technical perspective (as opposed to price which is meaningless at this stage in a project like this) you've got:

[1] - the developer being transparent and having the bottle to come on here un-anonymously and participate in often adversarial exchanges

[2] - the fact that they are full-time employed by this project and

[3] - the fact that he's announced (albeit informally) that ring signatures are on the roadmap

This coin's got it all for me, at least as far as any crypto project could have at this stage in the game. I don't see what else they could be doing.

I understand what you're saying, but once the difficulty is high enough to lower payments to 5 coins, it stops lowering.  So hopefully there is enough reward left to fight over and the hash will still be healthy.  I mean, people are still hashing now, and the coin hasn't really even begun to rise to the price I expect it to.??

While most people are looking at it from a  "to the moon" perspective of getting rich... And I may be heavily invested in it myself, my primary concern is that. It still loses 7% a year below the minimum. No big really...  My major worry is that the value will never peak high enough for this ratio you present to happen. We'd need $1,000+ DRK for that...

Quote from: LimLims
Reaching the minimum block reward is actually a good thing for mining profitability. Previously, block reward drops as diff increases, which effectively compounds the reduction in profitability. Once the block reward becomes static, it will be easier for the price to keep up with network hashrate.

Yes, but there also won't be any reason to mine... Giving The Bomb a place to live.

Lols, $1,000DRK and I'll never work again. But more importantly, if it DOESN'T happen, DRK essentially commits suicide. That would suck more than any amount of money I might make out of it.

They called me troll for saying price didn't make sense @ 0.006.

They called me troll for saying that I would buy after it made sense. Right now it's @ 0.0047 and I still think it's high.

Watch out who you listen to in these boards guys.

Get hit by a bus, loser.

I held my BTC when trolls like you were barking. Paid ~$4 for each of my BTC. And I bought DRK between $0.4 and $0.7 with those BTC. What now, bitch?

I'll be holding my DRK no matter what the bumpanddumpers have to say.

what I dont understand is WHY OH WHY SO MANY PEOPLE MINING WHEN ITS NOT PROFITABLE TO MINE AT ALL??

do they know something that I dont?

Some people don't have money to buy, but they do have a useless scrypt rig that's paid for. Some are people that have a cool gaming machine they can also mine with... If you don't have the dough, and you do have the the hashes...

If you could have mined only 0.1BTC a day in 2010, what would you have today?

They're not mining for today's value, that means there are a lot of people who understand the future and what the advances of DRK are worth for tomorrow. Tomorrow isn't here yet. But 0.1DRK today is worth how much paycheck tomorrow?

Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2. I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.

How do we compete against clones? Can they clone me? I work on this full time. In fact, I've only been at it four months. So far I've implemented DarkSend + X11 + DGW + Masternode payments. Plus, I've agreed to work on this project till at least Jan 2016 full time. So who on earth would invest in a clone?

AWESOME!

I don't know why anyone worries about this short time panic sell after reading that, cheap DRK fest, lol!

If this is cheap DRK... ;-)

Well the point is that you can mine something else and sell to buy DRK the same day and still get a bigger share to hold for the future. Problem is that there's not really anything else to mine when it comes to x11 that will exceed DRK mining value by much.

And this is relevant due to the fact that a lot of users that has gone from scrypt to x11 will rather do hula hooping with bananas in a zoo filled with roided gorillas than going back to scrypt.

And a lot more are actually just buying rigs to mine x11 that can't turn to scrypt.

I only feel comfortable mining DRK cause that gives me peace of mind. I don't need to check current values short term or trade everyday. Renting out as main and failover to DRK = max profits + more free time.

(can't let you have a whole page by yourself camo ;P)

One note though: Whether DRK will be profitable to mine or not, will not only depend on the block reward but also coin price. If, by the time X11 asics come, there are like 50-80-100 x11 coins, it might be the case that many of them might be more profitable to mine. The large number of x11 coins, is, in a sense, a guarantee for ASICs appearing at some point.

Sure, an abundance of X11 coins would make ASICs appear for X11. But, if none of them are pointed at a DRK pool, we still have The Bomb scenario, but then ANYONE could drop it.
How viable is it to somehow make it so that all the X11 networks are actually one network?  You mine DRK, you shore up the networks of other coins as well.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Well there was an interesting exercise watching that flash crash after Evan's little "fright".

A lot of hands got shaken there. Talk about taking the pain quickly.

Also, people now know that if they dump below 55 it's just going to blow right up in their face, so that should shut all the fudsters up who've been saying it's over valued.

It clearly isn't (unless you want to argue with the market which quite a few on here do appear to want to do Smiley ).

You realize that this will take very long to make? It took a while before we had the ASIC for SHA and Scrypt. I don't think that there is enough interest for x11 yet.

Personally, I wouldn't want to prop up the 'competition,' however laughable they might be. Darkcoin will win on its own merits, to hell with the rest, frankly.

edit: unless they are paying us shitloads of money. In DRK.
