Everyone keeps saying to update to 10.8.6 but when I update from http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind the version I get is v0.10.8.5-2-g8e508af-beta.  Is the 10.8.6 daemon for ubuntu 64 hiding somewhere?

WTF am I missing here?  Moved my wallets to my MNs but they still won't stay active for more than a couple hours.
What version does getinfo report? Should be 100806.

Don't worry about them coming and going on poolhash.org, there's still some interference from older versions, it seems to be improving with time. AFAIK if your MNs can see themselves/eachother you're fine.

make sure your darkcoind file is in the /usr/bin   directory. not just the .darkcoind directory.

I smell DogeCoin blood

You might taste it over the next 24 hours.

Momentum indicated by 4hr moving average mumbo-jumbo has just swung to the upside this afternoon and that's helped paved the way for a new round of buying. It appears to also have triggered quite a bit of profit taking, so a lot of this pump so far has been in cushioning the wave of sellers checking out.

Just shows how strong demand is, even in the rarefied air at these heady heights.

For example, 60 seconds ago there was 2208 DRK shot sitting in the asks about 8 rows from the lowest sell order. It got snatched along with all the smaller orders below it which shows that traders are jittery about missing out on significant lumps of liquidity.

You know how in transonic aerodynamics, as you pass through the speed of sound, the laws reverse so that an aero engine nozzle needs to have a increasing cross sectional area instead of an decreasing one ?

Well a similar phenomenon seems to be taking place in the DRK marketplace. The appearance of large sell orders is driving the price up instead of down, which is a reversal of regular trading behaviour. Possible indication of DRK going transonic ?  Wink

It's symlinked on two of my MNs, on the other I just run it from .darkcoind - how/why would this cause a problem?

i am no expert but try stopping darkcoind and removing the darkcoind file in /usr/bin and .darkcoind.   re download the rc into your .darkcoind folder. chmod 755 and cp it to /usr/bin .  It might work.

Symlinked back to .darkcoin directory on both of mine as well, per chaeplin's guide.  Is that not sufficient?

please answer:
a) was your address generated by the wallet or imported (brainwallet, paperwallet)
b) did you generate the phrase yourself (the secret key)

c) did you use your phrase/wallet-key anywhere else=?
d) is your phrase/wallet key guessable ? (name, birthday, combination of words that appear in the dictionary, "aaa" "123" "hello" "nooneknows" "password"... etc

Ok, I understand you completely, so:
a) was your address generated by the wallet or imported (brainwallet, paperwallet)
This is local (home desktop) computer. The wallet is from official darkoin.io site
b) did you generate the phrase yourself (the secret key)
I invented myself password
c) did you use your phrase/wallet-key anywhere else=?
Unique is only for this wallet
d) is your phrase/wallet key guessable ? (name, birthday, combination of words that appear in the dictionary, "aaa" "123" "hello" "nooneknows" "password"... etc
The pass phrase contains big and small letters, numbers, special characters, is not intuitive

mh... i have no idea.
can someone take over?

I'm no expert but imho scan your computer thoroughly in search for key-loggers, rootkit and malware.

Smiley
Already done, 3 different softwares, nothing found.
I have friends with similar problems reported yesterday, with bitcoin transactions that are not made by them.
More like a large hole affecting all crypto currencies...
Once again repeat:
When you have made a transaction from wallet, and wallet not syncronized, the transaction is shown in red color on right side on the wallet.
The wallet was not showing that there are transaction when started  syncronization, the transaction appear a few seconds before the end of syncronization, although the transaction was made 2 day before.
So, the transaction was not made from wallet.

I think people who want big chunks of DRK like to just grab it in one go, so maybe a big sell wall is more of a target than a wall!

PS, masternode centralization in the future doesn't cause any problems for darkcoin. I have 2 possible solutions to evaluate for V2 of darksend (ring signatures and encrypted system where the users themselves do the joining relayed through the masternodes.) . Both of these make the masternodes unaware of who is sending money to whom, so centralization isn't an issue at that point.

Regarding future directions:

Anonymity is now the talk of the day. Just as POS was a few months ago, now everyone is scrambling to become anonymous to get a piece of the anonymous pie. Coins are declaring themselves anonymous without having any tech right now, but rather promises of tech that will be arriving. Stuff like stealth addresses and basic darksend functionality are being discussed among minor competitors that want to be pumped by DRK's success.

Now, from what I'm seeing, Bytecoin and clones face significant bloat issues with their ring signatures (cryptonote tech). As they say over in the monero thread (monero is a bytecoin clone), what they have seems like an efficient anonymity tech that doesn't scale. Aside from their usability and compatibility issues for not being a bitcoin-based coin, this renders them near DOA (dead on arrival).

- is MRO scalable? No. Ring signatures add enormous bloat to the block chain that will become a big problem very soon.

They are talking about 8 times the size of bitcoin's blockchain but they have a different type of blockchain in which ring signatures are integrated. Their only debate is whether 8x is considered scalable or not, but the bloat fact is undisputed.

If ring signatures can be implemented on a bitcoin blockchain in a much lighter fashion it'd be an epic win. If not we'll inherit the scalability issues and might have to go for the encrypted system route, provided that it has no weaknesses and that it allows for max anonymity. Competition is getting tougher, DRK must become the undisputed leader in anonymity.

The poloniex price for Dark is looking pretty hot. MRO down, DRK up. Now we know why MRO was up recently. People sold DRK to jump on the new anonymity band wagon - MRO just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Why it's not possible to pay in drk or btc ?

Will you post to the UK?
Will you post to Mexico?

We have three standard shipping rates: One for domestic shipments (inside the United States), one for Canada, and one for other international shipments.

Domestic (United States) shipping $3.85 + $0.25 for each additional t-shirt. Your shirt will arrive within 7-14 days from the end of the campaign.

Domestic (Canada) $7.5 + $1.0 for each additional t-shirt. Your shirt will arrive within 14-21 days from the end of the campaign.

International shipping is $10.5 + $1.0 for each additional t-shirt. Your shirt will arrive within 14-21 days from the end of the campaign.

Ok, but why it's not possible to pay in drk or btc ?
I can't believe that we use paypal on a cryptocurrencies forum, yes ? Seriously ?

I do not control the site these are on. Just the campaign for the shirt. If it were up to me I'd happily sell these for DRK as I know it would be a great investment.
