It's always better to be caustious. I asked myself the same question when I first heard about them. To give myself some comfort, after I set up an account with Allcoin Exchange, I transferred a small amount from both Coinbased and Cryptsy to Allcoin successfully. This was followed with a larger amount sufficient to trade and withdraw. Both attempts to withdraw BTC from Allcoin to Coinbase and Cryptsy were prompt and successful. I have made a number of purchases and have not experienced any problem. I can only report my own experence. Everyone should use best practices to protect themself.

Thank you all for the immense community support on multiple social media platforms. Your efforts coupled with our continued unrelenting drive to recruit and build a large community of stake holders have resulted in very favorable comments and feedback in a large number of postings and direct PMs. Over time, it will become evident, that among others, our winning strategy of a continuous and sustainable marketing campaign promoting DNotes as a trustworthy and reliable digital currency with lasting value is the best path to take in growing the asset value of our long term stake holders. Unlike many other crypto currencies you may be familiar with, our investment in marketing and development will continue indefinitely.

We are working hard to promote DNotes and get DNotes into the hands of many.
New bounties have been added for social media promotions including retweets, facebook likes, and reddit comments. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=477479.0

Dnotes needs to be way valuable than the actual price.
I think (regarding the mining difficulty and the mount mined) that this coin has been underevaluated.

Shame.

It's a shame for those who are in hurry to make some fast BTC's. People like me are happy buying dnotes at 214 satoshi. Smiley

Shame.
The value of any coin in the beginning is not very much.  The reason you see higher prices at the start of any other coin is speculation.  Especially with what has been happening lately with the crypto community as a whole, people have not been speculating as much.  I don't think there are any coins out there that have moved beyond beta.  In general what little cryptos have to offer against the instability and fraudulent actions of certain groups is what is causing all this fear.  If anyone wants the coin/s they support to do well they have to stick with them for the long haul.  Hold them till you can spend them, of course sell a little on an exchange. The coins must flow not from a miner to a security box, but from a miner to an exchange then to a store then back to an exchange then to a store and so on.  Now that there is an exchange whether people like it or not we need to get a payment system set up.  Keep the votes up for more exchanges of course but lets really push hard for something like coinpayments or if there is a talented member they could create their own system.  Stability is another thing to keep in mind.  It would be hard for a shop owner to accept a coin that could lose half it's value in less than an hour.  But with time should come stability and usability and in turn a high(likely) price.  So hold on for the bumpy start(referring to the exchanges, the actual start was great!) maybe buy some if you can afford to.  The foundation has been laid and the structure is being built, let's help rivet it all together so the cosmetics can be added and this fine establishment we know as DNotes can realize the true potential it has.
Keep it up and we will go places.

Need someone to Mod your board so you can focus on your coin?  Want someone to be there answering newcomer  questions for the launch of your coin?  PM me for more info.  I can help!

The value of Dnotes will depend on the community.  The stronger the community, the more value Dnotes have.   One has to remember this is a coin in its infancy.

So, I am constantly refreshing this thread, and oft-times met with no new post.

Let's make this more lively.

DNotes is a cryptocurrency for the future. So then, what exactly is in store for the future? And how can cryptos, generally, and DNotes specifically, help facilitate life in the future as you see it?

There's no wrong ideas when your brainstorming.

The future, to me, is going to be one of technological pervasiveness. It's going to be everywhere. And by everywhere, I mean a totally different kind of everywhere. An everywhere that can be described by what I call a Triple Convergence (sort of an updated version of the Triple Convergence detailed Friedman's "The World is Flat"). We have the Semantic Web, The Web of Things, and Artificial Intelligence. This internet which has so vastly improved the lives of the entire planet is going to become massively larger. Every nook and cranny is going to be armed with simple intelligence, and will gather data. Like a trillion tiny sensors lining roads that communicate and direct your self driving cars. Refrigerators, microwaves, toys, smoke alarms, all with IP address. And then with the Semantic Web, we are going to take all of that data and connect it more deeply. So, this massive network is going to become streets more massive, far more connected...and increasingly large portions of the new network will be run by AI that ever more closely approximates the reasoning capabilities of human intelligence.

Technology will be then be pervasive. I'm talking pervasive in a way that makes technology today look like child's play.

For me, cryptos represent a way to maintain control amidst all of this pervasiveness. Don't get me wrong, our collective quality of life will improve immeasurably and in untold awesome ways. But all that progress will have a cost. And I think altcoins represent a significant piece of insurance against technological progress stifling our humanity. I don't want to be controlled, and I don't want financial companies, among others, to have the kind of power over me that they do now. For example, Visa is larger than Disney. Mastercard is larger than Boeing and McDonald's.

They are that big because of the centralized power of current wealth transfer paradigms. Decentralized, superrrrr-secure paradigms with broad support, like DNotes, are perfect cogs to be a part of running the "anti-machine."
