MiningHabit created an excellent video as an introduction to DNotes. He clearly put a lot of time and effort into it and we encourage everyone to take a look:

Wow, really great job on the video MiningHabit, I'm impressed.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I know for 5 dollars worth of bitcoin I mistakenly had to mine when I rented a 200Gh/s bitcoin only server (when I did not know better which was exactly what you said a losing game 17 bucks for 5 dollars of bitcoins lol)  I could buy around 4000 dnotes with that when I checked.

Now I am hopeful I will do better than that (hence my experiment)
So far just a recent slice with the one of the 2 special miners that are going to be up it would appear every few seconds it is getting about 20 dnotescoins, now if this will add up to around 30,000 coins by end of the 12 hours on each worker, I don't know yet.  if It breaks that then I know renting at this time would get more coins worth per dollar than just buying in exchange.

I would like to add some ideas that I think denote what this great coin is all about. I had some hacking issues to deal with the last couple of days hence the delay in sending some stuff over but I will do it tomorrow once my computer is squeaky clean again. What I like is the general respect everyone is showing towards DNOTES which is a great move towards showing the WORLD crypto currencies are not just an 'on the FRINGE' nerdy hobby. Smiley

**Update on Scrypt server rental experience.
this is my message I shared with the renter I used on ebay.
"One thing I am trying to work out for the dnotescoin group is the value of renting server vs just buying coins on allcoin.com It is a difficult thing to figure out,
I got burned my first attempt (mistakenly bought a 200gh 'bitcoin' sha256 contract for 17 bucks like 3 days ago, had to figure out bitcoins on the fly, and that only netted 5 bucks in bitcoins lol.)
after all fees to transfer those .00??? something something something (dark side) bitcoins to allcoins.com - I had like 4 bucks or something remaining that could buy about 4000 dnotes at current value.
So my hope is price 36.80 would net a good number of the coins.  with current difficulty at a block giving 250, I was able to get around 14,000 give or take.
Now if people just go by pure is it worth it, they might not try to rent - but I believe it is still worth it since not everyone has a easy way to get bitcoins to begin with. If at current levels 14000 coins (give or take) for dnotes I believe it to be worth it at this time.

I will recommend your service. If you have the time you might want to do like 1 hour stress test or 4 hour tests on each coin system. if you can get a value to dollar thing going I think it will expand your bidding base by that knowledge being available.
anyway it's been a pleasure, while I can't at this time afford more hours I would in future. "

So that pretty much Sums up my experience I would recommend it to people, just do homework on the cost, the MH and amount of hours you are getting.
------------------------
I think I did break Dnotespool.com however - my worker 1 and 2 during and after the rented server boost, have been stuck on impossibly high difficulty.   320 and 126 - (when website says it should be like 1.Huh
also my shares is broken at Sharerate0.04 (when it used to be 1 to 5 depending on difficulty.
Again this is good news testing wise that we can look into I hope. I don't mind being guinea pig

------------------------
Also update on GUIminer scrypt - new version is out http://guiminer.org/guiminer-scrypt.html 0.04 is now available.
Dnotespool.com had given me a 0.02 version to get started so wanted to spread the word about new version. :-)

I do not think I am confusing it but Dnotespool can verify or anyone using dnotespool, on what their worker Dif is.
But for example 7 days ago I copied following for my record I happened to share with Dnotescoin website directly
it normally was matching pretty close to what website said it would be.
PEACEOFWAR.worker1   kHs261   Dif2.31
PEACEOFWAR.worker2    kHs254   Dif2.31
and this Dif of hundreds only skyrocketed after my rental of the super 6300+Khs server for 12 hours. I understood the faster workers would get a higher difficulty but the basic ones should have stayed at same Dif.

well if anyone can look at their workers and let me know? Smiley

I was getting 150 on one miner and 260 on the other.
If I restart my miners, I can get the difficulty to show a low number. However, it's going up quickly.

Heh, bad timing? I did mess with the VARDIFF settings yesterday which probably coincided almost perfectly with your rent test Smiley It previously was setting MAX to whatever the coind difficulty was. I turned that off, but I think then the max was 1024 which seems to be way too high. I reset it again today to max of 128. Guess we'll see, that may also still be too high if the actual difficulty tends to be 1-6 or 8 or so.

When it says miner difficulty I think it can be a little misleading because you have to think of each card as a miner.  So if your "miner" is getting 1Mh but you have three cards each putting out 333Kh then you should have a diff setting for 333Kh.  You can see this in your miner GUI.  Every submitted share comes from an individual card not the miner as a whole.  Also the worker/miner difficulty has little affect on your performance however there are 2 things that it can mess up.  One, if it is too low then the pool server can get overloaded with the incoming shares.  Think of all those accepted shares you get then times that by how ever many miners there are in the pool and you can see how a low worker diff can muddle things up(a lot of problems with pools at launch are because of this).  Two, if the difficulty is too high your miner will end up getting a lot of rejects.
Here's the list I use whenever I get to choose my difficulty. Remember use the hash rate of the individual card and a difficulty of 64 is good for anything over around 150-200Kh.  So don't worry if you have 64 because pool systems some times gravitate towards it for simplicity.

    250KH and below: 16
    250+: 32
    500+: 64
    1000+: 128
    2000+: 256
    3000+: 384
    4000+: 512

A way I found to calculate coins/Mh/day is if you can find a diff close to ours on coinwarz.  Do a little math and you have a relatively close number depending on how close the difficulties match.
So this is what I'm seeing right now and my math:
DNotes Diff 1.15   block 250  Blocktime 1m   C/Mh/D  a little less than 2202 Notes

Casino Diff  1.14   block 50   Blocktime 30s  C/Mh/D  881
Adjusted Reff       block 100  Blocktime 1m   C/Mh/D  881

So I made the block times match which meant 30 x 2 = 1 (50 x 2 = 100)  So if a block of DNotes is 250.  To find your multiple you divide DNotes block reward by adjusted reference reward so, 250 / 100 = 2.5.  Apply the multiple(2.5) to Casinos C/Mh/D on coinwarz and you find DNotes' C/Mh/D which would be, 2.5 x 881 = 2202.

Don't forget this only works for coins that have matching algos ie sha 256, scrypt.  Also you can apply this to find future rates at higher or lower diff by using the coin with the corresponding difficulties.  There may be an easier way but this is how my math works. Grin

Yes I agree with DNOTES Dev too many pumps and dumps and unfortunately as I am a noob at trading got a bit mixed up with all of that to try and recover my btc hack loss but it doesn't work. It's best to settle for few good quality coins over time to grow and thank Goodness all my DNOTES are in tact and I am just saving them for my pension/miracle change of life scenario. Finally got my computer cleaned and reinstalled so I can start promoting DNOTES again and jotting down ideas and write ups. Smiley. At least I am trying to learn from my mistakes.

OP, just as an fyi...

http://note.validerrorpool.com

Is down, never to return (there was a note last night saying it was a great ride, they are shutting down, please withdraw coins by 10p est). I just checked, and the site is indeed down for the count. Can you get rid of that pool in the OP.

Beyond that, how does everyone feel about the launch of the second phase of DNotes? I would like to see a little bit more activity and publicity still going, overall. But as a miner, I have been surprised. There is still a pretty solid set of core miners going at the coin. Mining activity certainly dropped off a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought might happen. Which is a great sign, imo.

Thanks MiningHabit, removed that one. I'll get the other sites as well.

We are absolutely excited about the second phase. Working diligently on the next couple of projects.
