A translation proposal: The term "seed" in German could be "Samen" or "Saat" or "Keim". But none of them really fit for this purpose as they are primarly botanical terms.
Imho "Quellschlüssel" would be more suitable, in English it means "Source key". Maybe somebody has another suggestion?

The term "deseed" means "entkernen", which means "remove the core".

thanks, you can add your suggestions here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Electrum/Translation
this page will be used to localize the GUI

Note that the commands used by the command line interface are not going to be localized

I also have problems with translating "seed", "freeze", "unfreeze" and few more. It makes no sense to do direct translation...

@ThomasV: what about word "Balance"? It's not on the list...

For "balance", in this context you can say "Umsätze", thats the common term.
For "freeze" you could say "lock" = "sperren".
"Unlock" = "freischalten" (1) or "entsperren" (2).

"Quellschlüssel" (source key) could be used for "seed".

Thanks to Tuxavant's suggestion, it seems that adding a contact only works if it's just the address. No protocol and no label. It also just stores it as the address, with no way to name it and also doesn't seem to be a way to delete it.

Making it work with the standard protocol and allowing renaming or at least deleting would be nice additions to the app. If I have time later I'll check out the code and see if it's something I can add myself. Probably be a day or so till I get around to it though.

you are right. it requires a raw bitcoin address.
I did not have the time to catch up with the android client lately.

EDIT: I fixed that bug and updated the Android version to version 0.52. Go to step 3 on http://ecdsa.org/electrum/android.html

What version of Python do you have? I think the dev likes you to have 2.7.

you need at least python 2.6.
EDIT: I just added a test of the python version to the setup script
ok, I see, I have python 2.5.2 on ubuntu 8.04. Seems my ubuntu version is too old..., and there is no update in the standard repository.

PS: very funny, trying to translate terms from English to German where it makes no sense because there is no common use of that term in German language ("seed" = ...) in the given technical/mathematical context. This applies to many terms in technical context. I am German, but I would never use the German language interface, because I would have severe problems in understanding the terminology! I hate that in android apps often localization is set by default, and I cannot switch back to original language and am forced to suffer cryptic translations.
In the particular case ("seed"...), it makes most sense to me to keep the original term "seed", because either you as a German user know what "seed" means for random generators, or you don't have an idea anyway! If you have zero technical/mathematical background - you will not understand neither "seed" nor "Quellschlüssel" or "Samen". But as a German technical user I understand very well the word "seed", but I still would not be sure what it means if I read terms like "Quellschlüssel" or "Samen", and I would only get an idea when translating it back to English ("Samen" --> "seed") to understand what it means. So stay pragmatic, do not overdo the translation, this is my warm recommendation!!

Thanks! Am I able to delete the old dir after I've run the new program or should I still keep it there? Guess it probably doesn't matter since I can just create my wallet again from the seed.

Think of it as a free cross-word puzzle while using your program!

Are you planning on updating the electrum server patches for bitcoind for version 0.6.2? Or should I go ahead and try to patch my bitcoind manually?

ok, but please let us not overload this thread with discussion on the translation.
you can contribute to the translation by editing the wiki page.
Or, if you think it is necessary, you can start a discussion there too, or in another thread here.

if you do not want to use a translated version, type "export LANGUAGE=en" in your terminal (or "export LANG=en")

Concerning the German translation: Many German users dont feel happy about the fact, that their Language is overloaded with English terms. Its mainly the less "sophisticated" people who use this terms in their everyday speech.

Can you please move this discussion to the wiki, or create another (possibly german) forum thread?
I am not competent to discuss or arbitrer the translation in each language, and I am not willing to do that.

The current thread should remain focused on technical questions and bug reports.
If you want to get involved in the translation, please edit this page directly:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Electrum/Translation

That wiki page will be used to create localized versions of Electrum.
it also has a discussion page: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Talk:Electrum/Translation

...
In the recieve tab, you may view the balance of your receiving addresses
The GUI allows you to 'freeze' or 'unfreeze' the address you select.
Coins from your frozen addresses will not used when you create a new transaction.
Is there a way to freeze the change addr in order to force sending the change back to the source address?

I think there's a new bug that shows bad data for transactions and wallet balance while they are pending. Probably related to the 'display coins sent to change address' commit. I will post some screenshots tomorrow, can't right now as I'm posting from my phone.

More about this one, with screenshots taken yesterday, while the issue was visible:

The data displayed for amount and balance are incorrect for while a transaction is pending:

There should be a single -0.192 transaction at 23:00, as seen in the second screenshot,
but instead, Electrum was showing 2 positive transactions, +5.376 and +5.184? With
some addresses I don't recognize - quite possibly these are some of my change addresses
I suspect:
...

My wallet balance should be around 20 BTC, not 30 - Once the transactions get confirmed, the data is OK again:
...

Perhaps a bug in commit 12e2b8d ?

[EDIT]  Tried to reproduce the issue this morning, but can't.

Looks like that I just hit that same bug again:  (balance and/or tx amounts incorrect while tx are unconfirmed)

I still feel it has to do with the above commit

Sure, find the details below.

- Note that in the meantime the tx have been confirmed
- In fact this time, only the balance info in the status bar (see screenshot) seems to be wrong (9.623 + 1.891 unconfirmed)...
the transaction amounts themselves are correct - so perhaps this is a slightly different bug after all?

that's not interesting, then.

in your previous report you said the history had 2 pending transactions, that were actually the same.
I wanted to know what txid is displayed for both of them
