I was looking forward to watch Sandeep Lamichchane playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Here is Nepal, he is a big celebrity and he is the only Nepali player who is playing in the franchise T20 leagues. Looks like we may need to wait for one more month, as the IPL is postponed. I just hope that they will not cancel this year's edition. That would be heart breaking.

Every cricket event went down the drain and postponed for time being, except PSL i guess and the way things moving forward we can say TATA to cricket or any other major sporting event for at least 1 month, may be more.
I guess you are meaning sponsoring the teams? That will be good thing for cricket especially PSL. This tournament needs more exposure I think. So far the matches I have seen were very entertaining. This will be boring although I am not a regular gambler. No more known sports to bet. Bookies will face a significant down in their revenue too. I can this going to be continue longer than one month.
There will be none cricketing fans who will start gambling on cricket LOL Get ready to get some good exposures on our cricketing threads :-D

And more importantly TATA to sports gambling? This will be boring although I am not a regular gambler. No more known sports to bet. Bookies will face a significant down in their revenue too. Yeah, gambling in any sporting event might be tough but online casino (card games, which i love) should be okay. @Royse777 Not sure bro what do you meant by "sponsoring the team"?. I was just updating the news that " All event got suspend, except PSL" nothing else. but yeah agree on PSL need some exposure. @Royse777 Not sure bro what do meant by "sponsoring the team"?. I was just updating the news that " All event got suspend, except PSL" nothing else. but yeah agree on PSL need some exposure. I was talking about media, advertisement etc. Companies need exposure for their products and they spend money on the sports events for that and since all other forms of sports are more or less not happening (especially football in European/England part), I guess companies have no other way but to move to cricket for few weeks to get their brand exposed. Hypothetical by the way :-P There will be none cricketing fans who will start gambling on cricket LOL

IPL will happen this year but it is only postponed till April 15 due to Coronavirus threat. You can read more about it here Coronavirus threat: IPL 2020 deferred until April 15. The new dates likely to be between April 16 to June 30. I think we not spread any rumors and hope that IPL do take place this year too. It is one of the great cricketing event and no one want to miss it.

People are gonna still play casino and slots but gamblers who usually bet in sports alone will have a break so thats something on the bright side but when come to think about it spending weekends with nothing good and entertaining on the TV is boring. All sports are getting suspended and there are hardly any sports that is ongoing and even if there is it will not be an entertaining one. I am glad that most of the sports haven't cancelled their season otherwise I would have really gone bizerk. Things have gone from bad to worst in India.
It's worldwide TBH not only India.

When you see that all the sports world wide are getting suspended, PSL is lucky to survive and the matches are still in progress. Since now only few matches are left, i am hopeful that this tournament will be completed successfully, although with empty stadiums. Something is better than nothing.

I am a bit worried about the new schedule of the IPL. Mid-April to May looks fine, but if it gets delayed any further, then we'll be in trouble. Because the monsoon starts by the last week of May in South India (Chennai, Bangalore.etc). There is a very good chance that the tournament will get delayed further. And if that happens, the BCCI will be forced to shift it to UAE or South Africa, as it is not possible to conduct the IPL during monsoon season.
BTW, I was told that there have been a lot of sudden interest coming from the gamblers in the Namibian franchise T20 tournament (Richelieu Franchise T20). Apart from the Pakistan Super League, it is the only cricket tournament ongoing now, and as a result a lot of the cricket gamblers are making their bets on these matches. The Namibian officials are really surprised, as the tournament was virtually unknown outside the country until a few days back.

One thing we may have to understand here that before devising the IPL matches the safety would eb considered as a top priority of players and all those coaching staff etc who is directly or indirectly involved during such big leagues. So considering the things have started to rise in Asian regions it is quite possible that it may not even be delayed overall it could get cancelled because hosting in another country could only be possible where their is 100% surety that their is no COVID cases which is not the scene unless in between we have anti dot available and the pandemic suddenly sops then only we could see some light.

I don't think that the IPL will be played before the COVID 19 epidemic is contained. So there is no question of hosting it in another country, where there is a risk of spreading the disease. The BCCI has a limited time window available with them. They need at least 1.5 months to complete the tournament, which means that it can start the latest by mid-April. After that, the duration may be curtailed due to monsoon.

Do you think the IPL will be held on the COVID-19 crisis??
BCCI postponed IPL until April 15 as per the government guidance but most likely it won't takes place because it just a one month time period still other part of world got mostly affected so overseas players will be hard time while getting into the country so its like bye-bye for IPL 2020. RCB fans need to wait one more year to see their team on qualifiers.

The sports can be played in the coming years , so chill if the IPL or any other sporting event is not conducted this year. It should be. Otherwise, chance of Corona to be spread nation wide will be high. On the other hand, if no visitors is there, this season will lose heavy loss. I think it will be postponed for sure. Here in my country, all the school, college and universities have been closed till April 2nd.

China has started recovering from this but still there are cases. In India no.s are pretty much low and it's impressive how we are dealing and taking precaution against this virus. I think situation is not worse here and with such progress I would say just watch how the situation here goes on rather than cancelling.

BCCI along with the All share holders (Franchise +State Gov+ Broadcaster) keeping their all options open. Recent deadline (15th April) is because of Gov as they already cancelled all the foreign visas till next month 15th. If situation improves after one month (We have to wait and watch) then Indian gov might ease the visa process including other formalities and BCCI can think of running Short version of IPL for remaining days as this year schedule is already jam-packed.
