Recent deadline (15th April) is because of Gov as they already cancelled all the foreign visas till next month 15th. If situation improves after one month (We have to wait and watch) then Indian gov might ease the visa process including other formalities and BCCI can think of running Short version of IPL for remaining days as this year schedule is already jam-packed. The situation will get worse in the coming months as the virus is spreading rapidly and the only solution will be to push the event back or cancel it altogether and there are talks about even the Olympics will be pushed to next year and that will be the case with every major tournaments. But with the case of IPL the team owners will push for the tournament and we will see how the BCCI will decide how to rescue them from avoiding a huge financial loss.

Cancellation is last option, but if things go south then BCCI should pull their pants up and bite the bullet of revenue loss by cancelling the whole tournament. Financially or as cricket fan it sucks but in the end tough times require tough call as lives are more important.

This is really sucking because now latest update all sporting events for next two months are going to be cancelled and I am feeling we will live in stone age for this period as no sports nothing good and attractive in life for this period lock down is another worst thing happening.

we are not getting the seriousness of this spread, the whole world is going lockdown then who the hell will care about the sport events because still we are seeing the sports from humans who are same as other fellow humans. Not only sports the holy places of every religion is going locked down, entertainment places and the list keeps on enxtending everyday.

What if nothing calms down by 1st May? Will we see the complete call-off of the IPL this year? Yeah, it should be as its not worth it if situation turns out to be toxic. No one can afford to put lives at risk just for sports. Even -Empty stadium scenario- seems bad option in that case.

I agree everyone is helpless, we can only pray and follow the preventive measures that is the only option left. Even the government is also helpless. They are trying but the situation is unfortunately going out of control slowly. Until a drug is discovered we cannot do anything.

Actually,we can do our part as well rather than waiting for the medicine.Distance ourselves from other humans can be first thing we have to do now, which helps you to avoid getting infected with cv 19 and if you already got it can save 1000 more peoples because if you stay away you can stop spreading. Govt imposing self quarantine on their people to decrease the spreading rate of this virus which is going uncontrollable and make it as more deadly that how actually it was.

These BCCI guys are outright retarded or what? With the Coronavirus situation worsening with every passing day, how they are planning to conduct this tournament in just around a month from now? Will they be ready to compensate everyone, in case they catch COVID 19 during the tournament? IMO, BCCI should just cancel this year's edition and refund the TV revenue, sponsorship and franchise fee. I know it is going to be hard for the BCCI to part with money... but trust me, this is going to be the best option available for them.

^^ For the record, its back-up plan with condition apply * If everything calms down, if not then no IPL
And IMO they have every right to get ready for any possible scenario, considering the fact IPL alone create 1000s of job every year.

We have not seen any situation like these in the past and it all depends upon how the virus can be controlled and i am not sure about the situation in India but considering that all of the major tournaments are cancelled they are also taking proactive steps and if the situation is not under control then the IPL will be cancelled altogether and that is the case with other sporting events. And IMO they have every right to get ready for any possible scenario, considering the fact IPL alone create 1000s of job every year.
IPL is a high profile tournament but the fate depends upon how the virus is controlled globally and with the situation in Europe the situation is getting worse as days pass by, until the virus is contained i am not expecting them to carry on with the plan of conducting the IPL even if it provides many jobs and opportunities.

I highly doubt that, I believe China are not telling the world the truth with the amount of cases they have and how many new cases are popping up daily. As we know the T20 world cup is played later this year in Australia and right now the AFL is going ahead as they don't want to clash with the world cup so its going to be interesting to see what happens if the AFL is stopped due to the virus and what will happen with the T20 world cup as it might be pushed back which in a way should be okay as it will be the start of the Australian summer.

The government has put in a lot of efforts in containing the situation and hopefully everything will be at normal very soon. Is it possible for IPL to be rescheduled in the month of May. I feel by that time the situation will be under control?

The problem is , we can never really know what to believe . The journalists out there have to fear the government as well as the virus to freely roam in the field and collect info and publish them . Whatever we see in news is what we should believe . Everyone is hoping the same that the situation should normalise before the starting of the tournament. Government indeed is putting a lot of efforts but do you think people are? I think not , if you see in Madhya Pradesh how they are protesting against the BJP with respect to elections , how can anyone contain a virus in these situation? It will obviously affect the other fields like sports too .

Recently I saw a news about a young guy from Kolkata who is the first person tested positive. He did not heed the request of airport authority to admit himself in the hospital and caused more people to become suspected coronavirus victims. Educated individuals from the elite society are acting like illeterates in india.

Not possible... Or at least tough call as almost every team has packed schedule after May so i don't see how BCCI could do that. Aus, England, SA, Windies all playing international cricket so it doesn't make sense.

I think not , if you see in Madhya Pradesh how they are protesting against the BJP with respect to elections , how can anyone contain a virus in these situation? It will obviously affect the other fields like sports too . It all depends upon the state how they are following the preventive measures, In Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala the government is taking proactive steps as they shut every schools and any public gatherings including shopping malls and theaters, in Madhya Pradesh there is no reported case so far and the political drama is continuing as the CM resigned today and if they are not taking proactive steps to prevent the spread then they will suffer in the end. Recently I saw a news about a young guy from Kolkata who is the first person tested positive. He did not heed the request of airport authority to admit himself in the hospital and caused more people to become suspected coronavirus victims. This is a problem and similar thing happened in Kerala as a family travelling from Italy hide their travel history while filling up the forms in the airport and skipped everything and they started the second spread and these stupid people came in contact with many people and they were not even willing to get admitted in hospital but the government has taken the proactive step to prevent further spread. Educated individuals from the elite society are acting like illeterates in india.
If the government plans to register Culpable homicide or involuntary manslaughter for anyone causing these spread by hiding and sneaking through check points in airports then these kind of issues will be sorted.
