Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen picked up 6 wickets between them to have England reeling at 116/6. They could have wrapped up the proceedings in another hour or so, but then the interruption occurred. There is hardly any chance of resumption of play today. It is still raining and the outfield is very damp. I am actually more worried about tomorrow.

And who would've thought that Ollie freaking pope would look like a winning horse in first inning where Rooty and Redhead Bairstow appear as club cricketer.

Apart from Ollie Pope and Stokes, no other English batsman could collect 10 runs. But in the last few matches, we have seen that after batting very badly in the first innings, they have won by batting brilliantly in the second innings. I think we will see the same in this match. However, a total of less than 200 will put England in trouble in this match.

From an Indian perspective i would like to see England winning the match but we shouldn't forget that...

Toss is kinda important, in last 4 test match where poms won the match they won the toss and that too in home conditions, toss also become very important cause of flat deck. We are yet to see if it goes the same way if it does then i see Proteas winning the match.

If you are an England fan then let me tell you in advance that you will not be disappointed. Because we all know test cricket is a 5 day game so one day does not decide who will win the match. Maybe England didn't bat to their full potential on the first day and since the rain on the first day is now off and there are four more days left in this game.I think England will bounce back in these four days and maybe they will take this match.

South African bowlers did a fantastic job. South African pace attack ranks second to Australia in test cricket. As a result of the very wet weather, play at Lord's is cancelled. Fortunately, the weather comes in to save England, otherwise they would have been in trouble from the beginning. Overall, SA has performed well so far, especially Rabada. Nevertheless, England has a strategy for bouncing back, so let's see if they will succeed.

If England can collect like 220 in the first innings then I will put England team ahead to win this match. Because, in the past few matches, I have seen England's batsmen batting well in the second innings. Broad and Pope now at the crease. Pope must stay at the crease for a long time. 220 will not be too difficult if Pope is at the crease.

After the rain, the field naturally slows down a bit. And so it will become more difficult for England to collect runs on the second day. Ollie Pope is at the crease, he is an experienced batsman. But I don't see any experienced batsmen to support Pope. Stuart Broad is basically a bowler. So it is very difficult for England to collect 200 runs at the moment.

I've watched only 10 overs gameplay and it looked like conditions were favorable to bowlers like pakhitheboss mentioned. England batter didn't do much wrong, it's just Proteas bowling was really something yesterday.

Pitch was really spicy for the bowlers and new kid Macro Jansen generated enormous amount of swing in his spell, even Joe Root looked clueless against him and Nortje is known for his pace, he simply castled Bairstow and foakes with his pace only.

We can't see anything but wait now but England if they don't stop because of rain then think rain can change their luck but we have to wait for that after four days we will see the result.

As long as Broad is there, Pope will try to build a partnership. After him, the tail starts. Given the bowler-friendly conditions, I believe that 200 to 220 would be a decent total for England. But getting there won't be very easy and they need another hundred runs or so. All the four South African pacers are on fire, and taking advantage of the helpful conditions. BTW, although Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada picked up the maximum number of wickets, it was Marco Jansen who got the most crucial scalp (that of Joe Root).

Mostly bowlers done good work in these conditions and if we have some good time to play in today game then surely we can expect something good from South African bowlers because they can take wickets quickly in these conditions and then England bowlers also capable of having their best because today mostly we are going to have cloudy weather and this is mostly suitable for bowlers but from tomorrow we can expect good change which could be helpful for batsmen.
 
Now this all depends on both sides how their response in these conditions because if we lost two days then surely most chances we are going to have draw as hot favourite and if South African done something special then surely they can take good advantage of this all.

But if somehow England can score like 200 then they can fight to win this match. England's bowlers are experienced. Also, England often bats better in the second innings than in the first. Let's see if the England players can survive till the end of the first session.

If James Anderson can get some of the top order South African batsmen out cheaply, then England may still have a chance in this match.

We'll see how long England's tail-end batsmen can survive with two wickets left. South Africa's pace attack is exciting, Kagiso Rabada in particular. Their bowling unit is known as the best in international cricket, and they have produced some of the best bowlers on the planet. There seems to be a bounce to the wickets. We will have to wait for the English pace attack if SA pace unit is getting such help.

Your prediction is correct. England managed to collect165 runs. Ollie Pope scored the highest 73 runs for the team. England batted only 45 overs.
England lost their fourth wicket by 55 runs. South Africa has collected 50 runs and still has not lost a wicket. So it is estimated that South Africa will be able to collect 165 runs very easily. I think, If South Africa manages to collect 300 then England's defeat in this match seems almost certain
