Afghanistan has lost momentum against Sri Lanka in the first ODI. After reducing the Lankans to 84/4, the Afghan bowlers allowed Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka to build a partnership for the 5th wicket. Now Sri Lanka looks set for a total of around 260-280, unless the Afghans can pick up a couple of wickets in quick succession.

Meanwhile Karnataka has won the toss against Namibia and elected to field first. Karnataka is being captained by Ravikumar Samarth, while Namibia is being led by Gerhard Erasmus. This series consists of 5 ODI matches, and all of them will be played at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek. Apart from Samarth, the Karnataka squad contains promising players like Vidwath Kaverappa and Manoj Bhandage.

Today's 1st ODI match of Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka team has already started.Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bowl.Sri Lanka now came out to bat.137 runs in 30 overs.So far Sri Lanka has lost 4 strong wickets.Looking at the game  It seems that batsmen of Sri Lanka team are under a lot of pressure. Fazalhaq Farooqi of Afghanistan team took 2 wickets with 22 runs in 5 overs. It seems that Sri Lanka will not be able to score more than 250 runs today.

Sri Lanka were all out for 268 runs in 50 overs. Sri Lanka were under a lot of pressure after losing wickets in the beginning. Charith Asalanka played brilliantly and was dismissed for 91 runs, missing the century by a few runs. Dhananjaya De Silva was dismissed for 51 runs. Apart from the two of them, no one else could score a half century. Afghanistan has done great bowling, Afghanistan has a chance to win today.

BCCI could compensate the broadcasters with a couple of bilateral series, this should cover their loss if there are any.

The problem will come when it's Broadcaster vs ICC.

In case of Asia Cup, it is going to be Broadcasters vs ACC. And I don't know the details, because unlike the ICC, ACC never publishes the bid details on media rights. In case Pakistan pulls out of the ODI World Cup later this year, then it will impact the ICC. Already there is an understanding that Star Sports (and Zee also) paid a lot more for the media rights than the initial estimates (2024-27 cycle). If there is a possibility of Pakistan pulling out of the subsequent tournaments, then they may ask the ICC to bring down the auction rate (2026 T20I World Cup is supposed to be hosted by India, while Pakistan is hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy).

Star's recent deal of the Asia Cup is about to be over this year (2016-23) and i believe the current media rights deal won't be too expensive, that's why i said that BCCI could compensate them with a couple of series. BCCI is the largest partner anyway so it comes down to them.

ICC will start shitting bricks if it happens, i think BCCI will sit back and enjoy the drama.

What a win for Afghanistan. Srilanka scored a decent 268 runs but they were not able to defend it. In the very first match at Hambantota, Srilanka, the host team lost the match. 

Almost every batsman from Afghanistan contributed or this win. Ibrahim Zadran scored 98 runs and Rahmat Shah scored 55 runs, and this partnership between the two gave Afghanistan a perfect platform to win this chase.

The next match between the two teams will be played on Sunday and the host team has to gather up all the confidence to compete strongly else the series could go in the favor of the Afghanistan team.

I think Afghanistan secured a great win without Rashid Khan. But if Rashid Khan is back in the team then surely Afghanistan will be in strong form which will be very scary for Sri Lanka, because Rashid Khan is the best in terms of bowling. In this regard, Sri Lanka should perform better as their wickets have fallen the most and the run rate is very low. I usually see Sri Lanka in ODI matches with a high number of wickets falling and Sri Lanka's performance against Bangladesh in the previous season was very poor. But this time Sri Lanka lost the first match with Afghanistan, I think Sri Lanka's weakness is a lot. Sri Lanka must perform well in the next match.

Excellent performance by Afghanistan team in the 1st match of this ODI series. Sri Lanka scored 268 runs in just 50 overs. But the score was not satisfactory. Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews failed that is the reason to collect a healthy score for Sri Lankan team and the score of the match was not as expected which made it very easy for Afghanistan to win the match. Despite the loss, Asalanka played a good role in the team. But sadly he didn't get the century by just 9 runs. Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bowl, this decision help them to win the match.

I thought this match would be competitive. But in the match, we saw the dominance of Afghanistan players. The way Sri Lanka started their innings. I thought the team would not be able to give a target of 200 runs. But as a result of the responsible batting of Asalanga and Dhananjaya, they gave a good enough target of 269 runs. But their bowling was poor. Apart from Afghan opener Rahamanullah Gurbaz, every batsman's performance was quite good. Ibrahim Zadran played a brilliant innings of 98 runs. Afghanistan is the most likely to win this series. The performance of any Sri Lankan player is not regular.

Today, Afghanistan won the match for their excellent performance from bowling to batting. The runs that Sri Lanka batted first today were not the right runs for them to win.

Afghanistan played Supervb, as from start of the match they choose bowl first which was a clever decision in Thier favor, I taught that 268 will be difficult chase for them as Afghanistan were known for Strong T20 team because of Thier batter pure power hitting but today they proved that they has ability to survive in ODI format too and can defeat top ranking team too.
In my mind credit of Thier beautiful victory goes to Ibrahim Zadran who build a long partnership and Carry on the momentum after every dismissal which help the entire team to raised his moral and generat the power of will. As a result they become victorious in first match of Thier series

The pitch was not bowling-friendly. 268 runs on a completely batting-friendly pitch was not a good collection. Sri Lanka's innings stalled at 268 runs due to poor performance by Sri Lanka's top-order players. The top-order players should have performed more responsibly. While Sri Lanka's top order failed completely, the performance of Afghanistan's top-order players was excellent. The Afghanistan team easily won this match mainly because of the good performance of the top order. Afghanistan team reached the target of victory by losing only 4 wickets.

Pitch is just a factor, it is the performance from the players that make things happen good. Atleast Sri Lanka could've given some close fight. This is an easy win for Afghanistan and  268 runs is not a bad target. Afghanistan have won the match losing just 4 wickets whereas Sri Lanka have lost ten wickets to score the same run. Does that mean the pitch had been bowling friendly for Afghanistan and once again turned batting friendly. The Sri Lanka could've taken advantage as it is their home pitch. Anyhow big match and now most teams would've started to get some fear about the performance from Afghanistan. Zadran unluckily missed his century, losing the wicket at 98
