A theoretical SP100 assuming .5 watts efficiency would require 5000 watts.  Most people would have a problem to power it.

Would need 4 different 115v circuits, and enough power supplies, probably 9 x 600, with 18 power connector inputs on the machine.

This would make sense as 208-240v is more efficient  than 115v.

New gen is for industrial mining only. No home units.
It's true that our first 3rd gen design is targeted large scale deployment. However, if the market demand will exist, we might create a smaller form factor.
It took us less than 2 month from decision to a working SP20 prototype.

I would think 220-240 would be best for any set-up running more than 2 miners. I also like the Idea of rack mount cause its a little bit
easier to control the environment. Anyway...the sooner the better!!!

I dont think it is a matter of IF the demand for a home miner is there... I definitely think it is... but rather at what price point is the right amount of demand available.

Although some complained about the SP20 being at $479 I think that the build quality and support behind the product justified the price... even more so against your closest less expensive direct competitor, the S5.

Keep up the good work SP. I am sure whatever you make will sell. You guys have built a good name behind yourselves.

Thanks  Smiley

I would think that as long as the word "profit" is in the answer to the equation, they will come up with something ...
SP20's started at $1,190.00 USD and sold out at $479.00 ... they were still making "profit" at $479.00

Be ready for huge demand. Current demand is surpressed by the low exchange rate. Next time the exchange rate jumps, you'll see huge demand for home miners.

Lol, well usually last item clear outs lose profit. That being said, I would hope enough was made off the initial run that it covered the bit of loss you took on the last few.

I'm so happy with these guys, My only complain is I was the myminer.io page gave some stats, like Hash and temps. So I don't need to check half a dozen tabs Cheesy lol

I'm ready to preorder your next one!
De me a favor, use the 2000bb Power supplies and ship without Cheesy I have a crap load of them sitting around Wink

It all depends on many variables (bitcoin price, difficulty, improvement in specs, etc.) as to whether it will happen or not, but my plan has been to mine on my SP20s for a few more months before reselling them for the next generation of SP hardware.  A planned resale is the only way to even approach ROI (or at least reduce losses) with the current generation, so the whether or not there is a suitable next generation may mean the difference between mining or not soon.  To hear that a next generation may not be coming for home mining is disappointing, but I do understand completely.

Just an observation about my preferences should you consider the smaller form factor:

In my case, except for my first SP20 (which I bought an EVGA supply for), I've been buying 240V server supplies from eBay and modding them ($30 per 1200W supply and <$10 in parts to mod... nice).  The ability to do this has made for substantial price savings which would be nice to carry into the next generation (it was the difference between ordering a nano farm or not).  That said, it would be nice if the target power consumption for the next gen home miner stays around the same 1100-1200W to use these supplies (but with improved hash rate at that same consumption).

If it were possible, I would alternatively certainly consider moving to the rack mount form at home if it could be ordered at a lesser cost optioned without the built in power supplies.  Perhaps a compromise could be made where the rack form factor includes 12VDC jacks or screw terminals for those who want to order it without the power supplies and to provide our own supplies?  I know it would increase your BOM on the model, but it would allow the same form factor to serve both applications.
