It's true that our first 3rd gen design is targeted large scale deployment. However, if the market demand will exist, we might create a smaller form factor.
It took us less than 2 month from decision to a working SP20 prototype.

I hope you do see a market for the home/hosted miner. If not, thanks for all your products and support to date ... it's been refreshing. Shame you had to end the SP20 on a loss making sale, BTC has been hard over the past months.

>> 12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.

Yep, that's an industrial scale miner for sure! ... and you'll no doubt sell loads to the big boys/farmers and cloud hashing companies out there. You're running a business of course, and shareholders/investors need to be rewarded ... in such a small space of time (still under 12 months?) you've made fantastic progress.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

You make it sound like it will be a 7 foot 60kw tower :p

While the average person might have 100 amp service and could maybe spare half of that,  some others may have 200 amp service, half of that is about 24kw at 100% load.
12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.

Damn. Can you offer a model that cuts that in half?

12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.
IMHO, if you came out with something like 4U/5Kw/3 or 4 board version in the 20-25TH range you'd make a killing.  I think that would still keep the home miner in the game as basically anyone with 5 SP20's running today should/would be able to convert over to this. As with the SP30/31/35 the rack mount form factor would be great for those of us in a datacenter setting.

Im sure there is a reason they came up with that  size.  Maybe because most newer  data centers can handle close to 15-20kw in 1 rack space. And  some even 60kw so that would mean a customer could  squeeze 3 units into 1 rented  rack  space If the data center had enough  juice density.  And for non  data centers 2 double pole 40 amp circuits would  be enough to power it with lots room to spare.

Sponds have always gone for density, and a good business model to follow it is.

Why are all your miners sold out at the moment?
Because people bought them.

At current rate, the stock will be sold out in few weeks (already sold out on the SP35).

We are Happy to announce that the SP20 has sold out.
It's not too late for those who want to own a Spondoolies-Tech unit as we continue to offer the SP31.

Looks like the SP31 is listed as in stock though, so "all your miners" seems a little ambitious Smiley

How is everyone missing the main point when Spondoolies says that the next gen is not for home use?   Huh

They will NOT be retailing single units. They will likely only sell large batches to industrial mining operations... just like KNC and Bitfury. There are many reasons why they would want to do this and I'm sure most of us have heard them all before.

I completely agree with you.

Its a tough business, and no one has lasted selling retail machines.  Only Bitmain, but I think their strategy was to mine with them for a bit then sell to marketplace before they become obsolete and then they are stuck with a ton of depreciating inventory.

Bitfury and KNC are now manufacturers and miners with their own proprietary technology (cant really blame them they spent millions on r and d).  Spondoolies I can see why it is easier to sell in batches of 100, 500, 1000 and just concentrate on wholesale rather than take the risk of inventory or the hassle of customer servce for retail units.  I applaud them though with coming out with a breakthrough product at a time when other makers were selling only promises.

Access to the technology is the key barrier for the retail miner, as ASCIS are specialized.  I miss the days of cpu and gpu mining when everyone had a chance to get a highend intel or amd cpu or high end gpu from amd or nvidia.    Even the large farms had the exact same equipment, just more of them.  Pretty level playing field back then.

Kind of sad there's not going to be much of an available market for home miners.  I'm lucky enough that I can run 10 or 12 boxes without issue.

Spondoolies, can you provide an approximate power versus hashrate graph (or table) for the SP35? This will help in optimizing net profit for these units based on local electricity rates.

I've asked one of our engineer to produce such graphs, but I stated that it's low priority. It will take him few days.

I didn't say that. I said that our first form factor is suitable for large scale deployment. If there will be home mining market, we'll have other offerings.

Our business model for the 3rd gen will be based on JVs with local experienced operators with access to low cost electricity.

Than again I'm an electrician with 200amp home service... Wink

Pricing yet? preorders? ETA Cheesy

We won't take pre-orders until the technology will be proven. Afterwards, we might, depending on the market and our funding situation. I find it very unlikely.

I would have thought up the same modular way, as this saves on the exterior, multiple small fans, and controllers and MB.  Bitfury, and ASM have been doing it for awhile, they probably have custom Unit-sizes in house that the public does not know about, in their mines.
Beside BMT upgrade kits, I'm not aware of any other company that successfully reused the chassis, PSUs, fans and controller.
I know that BitFury planed for it but they're currently moving towards immersion cooling in their DCs, so they seem to discard the idea.
In addition, BitFury raspberry pi controller didn't have spare capacity to handle the increase in job creation rate.

We intend to allow quick upgrade between our 3rd and future gens.
We'll probably manufacture the hashing boards closer to the packaging house and ship them by air, while the chassis will be shipped by sea or be manufactured closer to the deployment locations.

I have 1 socket I can change from 120 to 240 volts.  It is a 3 foot run from my panel .  So I can easily do this.

I can run 12 sp20e's  at 600 watts or a total of 7200 watts.

So if I have 1 sp100 I can wire a 30amp fuse and supply  5600 watts to the sp100.  after that I would be pressed.

So if a newer 4000-6000 watt miner does come out I will be sure to be ready for it.
