Ori shipped my SP30 a couple of months back! I guess he sent out the emails expecting to receive answers during the holidays.
It's not a bad practice if you want to get things done quicker. As for the security .. I'm emailing my bank for various reasons .. why emailing a vendor would not be ok?

Two of my new SP-30's are not going over 2TH for some reason. I have spoke to my hosting in Michagan and he says this seems to be an issue with many of the SP30's they've received. Are SP looking into this issue? We are losing out on the mining.

Have you checked the headers? Actually, I get similar mails claiming to come from Spondoolies, KnC, Bitmine, Bitmain and some other companies. They guarantee it. SP30 owners were compensated as the SP30s didn't meet the advertised performance due to a batch issue with the ASICs. I am happy with the compensation I received, and the SP30s are the best miners in the world right now in terms of hashing speed and J/GH (I believe this is true, someone let me know if there is a better product in the wild*).

I suspect that the SP31 and SP35 will perform as advertised, but it is nice to know Spond backs up their claims with a compensation guarantee.

The question I have is firmware upgrades.  My machines are running perfectly at 4.4T.  Should I upgrade?  What if this fucks things up?  I kind-of like the machines running at full speed without any interruptions.  I don't know if it is such a good idea to upgrade.  Zvi?

Hi All.
We have noticed that some percentage of the SP30/PSUs does not survive the shipment that well. After talking with Remo we see that the problems are usually of 2 types:

Murata/Board problems:

The Murata are not as stable as Emerson to begin with, and when failing they need a power cycle, unlike Emerson.

We set the top limit for Murata to be 1300 in latest FW, but it is still too much for some Muratas, especially in hot environment. You can set lower limit in the "settings" tab if you see your Murata keeps failing.
If you want to force and set Muratta to higher value then 1300, you will have to ssh to the system and do the following: "echo 1 > /etc/mg_ignore_110_fcc". Don't do this if you have 110V since this will burn your cables and PSU, only if you have 220V and want to try and get more juice from the Murata.

What to do in case of miner mining 50%:
In case you have non-functioning board, and getting hash rate of ~2000-2300Th, please check the light on the back of the PSUs. If one of the lights is not green, do full 30 second power cycle to the unit.
If after the power cycle the PSU goes up but it's light not turning green, then there is a shortage on board or in the PSU. To test if it is the PSU or the board, try swapping the top and bottom PSUs. If the red light consistantly in same PSU you should RMA PSU. If the red light is consistant in the place (top or bottom) then you will have to RMA the whole miner. If the unit goes up OK, but turns red after some mining - then you have to set lower limit to the Murata.

Noise/Restarts problem
In case of system going to restarts, and mining non-consistanly, giving very spiky graph between 3.5Th and 4.5Th, there is a chance there was a noise on the lines. We usually discover those systems in production, but some systems get the problem after shipment. Usually the problem is in ASICs in loops 14 and 29. In this case go to the setting page and try to disable all ASICs on loops 14 and 29 (set to Disabled, not removed). If the system will start woking stable, but giving lower hash-rate then the problem is in those loops. You can try to discover where the problem exactly by checking the log page or enabling asics one by one. Once your miner is stable and mining, you can open ports and initiate a support call so we can check the situation and create RMA in severe cases.

You will have to do that trial and error way.
I don't have the bandwidth to implement W/GHs target.
Small is dependant on system/ASIC batch.

Just play with it till you reach good numbers.

It depends on each miner. I found out that the most efficient settings is to set min voltage 0.612 and max voltage 0.618(or 0.622). I have my miners set up to min 0.614 and max 0.618.

Not sure how you do it there on your SP10, but on my SP30 running FW 2.4.21 the UI does not accept any low voltage.. This is what the UI says, and the settings must be in the range to be accepted.

Set your starting voltage no more then 10 mv under your stable working voltage (from ASIC stats page)
Start Volts Top (0.66-0.70)
Start Volts Bottom(0.66-0.70)

now .. I can always edit the parameters "FAN:80 VST:660 VSB:660 VMAX:750 AC_TOP:1330 AC_BOT:1295 DC_AMP:150" in /etc/mg_custom_mode, but not everyone is playing with the files.

I suspect the "stable working voltage" in the ASIC page is the "vlt1/vlt2" range when the unit is running fine .. where VLT1 is the low voltage setting, and the VLT2 is the high one.
Also, please note that the top psu powers loops 0 to 4 and the bottom psu powers loops 5 to 9. At least on  my unit.
