It was an obvious choice, Son was the second best player (one could argue he was the best) on that team and has been with them for many many years, which means that after Kane left, he was the one that deserved it the most without a doubt.

I still think Spurs should have sold Son as well, like blow up the whole team and build from start, getting 100+ million for Kane means they could get at least 70 million for Son as well, maybe more who knows. That way they could have gotten some younger great players and not just one or two, they could have done like 4 or even 5 depending on how much money they would make. That would have made them quite strong. In any case, they now lack the top scorer, but have money to buy someone else.

They have a great striker like Richarlison to substitute Kane and for me this striker has all the possibilities to become Tottenham top player and top scorer.They still have time to invest in a new or a couple of young players from the money they got from Kane as it was evident in today game that they lacked the performance of last year.A team like that will need to improve as they need to perform better than they did in today game.Brentford is a strong team but not a team that can stop Tottenham based on the quality of individual players of each team,also Tottenham has not a really great coach right now so this maybe a problem too.

The draw is one thing but the way that Chelsea played is more important than the result in this case I think. Nobody really knew what is going to happen against Liverpool and since both teams played so bad last season, and Chelsea even worse than bad, I think this is a result that Chelsea can be ok with. The game statistics show that Chelsea was much closer to taking the lead than Liverpool. Liverpool had a single shot on target, which was the goal. Chelsea had four shots on target and also 66% ball possession.

Salah hit the bar and had a goal disallowed by the smallest of margins, as did Chilwell. I think Liverpool were the better team for the first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes. Chelsea were better for the time between that.

A draw is a fair result, both teams will need to improve a lot to achieve their goals this season.

Chelsea stands a chance to win the match because they are given Liverpool a lot of pressure, and they have more attempt on goals than Liverpool, more ball possession and more attacks. Chelsea has introduced Mudryk in the game, and he is a player that have pace which can resolve to creation of more chances for Chelsea.

Chelsea really played impressively from defense to attack they were good and they have alot of improvement from last season performance. I think chelsea could’ve won the match if the coach didn’t play a defensive strategy, it was the best to do though because this is the first game of the season and a big match so just had to be more careful in his tactics so he doesn’t loose the match. Losing the first game might affect the team and the coach mentally so i think Chelsea really tried their best.

If mudryk had more playing time things could’ve been different because sterling didn’t perform too well today, he was so casual and lost possession easily. I think chelsea has so much to offer this season and if they don’t challenge the league I think they can make a spot in the top 4. Everything is going well so far, the coach has shown an impact on the team and that’s what matters to me.

In my opinion, Chelsea's game was quite good, especially their defense which was very solid and confused Liverpool's players and made it difficult for them to shoot at Chelsea's goal.
And maybe a lot of substitutions to create new strategies or tactics because the score is tied towards the end of the game, it's the coach's job to change that. And in this game, it looks like Chelsea is better than Liverpool.

Just like last season, Mohamed Salah was on his own in offense in the first game of this season. Mac Allister and Szoboslai will adapt to the team immediately and contribute positively. However, if they don't sign a quality striker alongside Mohamed Salah, they will have to settle for 5th place again this season, just like last season. I saw Liverpool as the same Liverpool as last season in this match. However, Chelsea looked seriously good. I think we will watch a better Chelsea this season. Of course, it is not right to comment on the whole season based on a single match, but this is my impression.

For now, I feel that Tottenham can actually still create some options in their attack despite the absence of Kane there but there are still some players like Son, Kulusevski, Maddison and Richalrison who can and are still quite good in attack even though the finishing is a little reduced but it can still be forced just looking at some other conditions for the defence it seems a little complicated in my opinion.
Their defence still has many gaps. Brentford's 2 goals came from 11 shots and 8 on target all when Brentford only had 30 per cent possession.

harry kane's departure to bayern had a major impact on the sharpness of tottenham's attack line ^{(moreover, Richalison as a center forward is not as good as Harry Kane)}, this is evident from the 18 shots made by tottenham only 2 were goals, while for their midfield there was still no difference from the previous season, i'm quite surprised why postecoglou didn't improve that. 

for newcastle, i really salute their compactness, managing to score 5 goals against aston villa is not easy, now they are leading the EPL, will they be able to maintain their performance!

Tottenham's major problem is their defense. There are so many lapses in their defense last season, and still yet they are unable to fix it. I was expecting the Tottenham club to do more signing of defensive players in the transfer window but they didn't. How are we sure they can make up to the 7th position of the premier league table this season since every team wants to be tough than they were last season
Having said that, if Tottenham can work on their defense, am sure they will be winning matches as expected of them. Their frontline players are still okay despite the absence of Harry Kane.

There are no big star players in the Newcastle squad. There are also no players who are paid very high wages by the  newcastle management. Considering the squad, Newcastle team can be considered as a mediocre team. However  this team continues to surprise everyone with excellent performances from last season.

No one would have imagined that Newcastle would qualify for the champions league last season. They have done it. The coach should be commended for it. but I thought since the team managed to qualify for the champions league, now maybe  they will add star players to the squad to add more  strength to their strength. But Eddie Howe didn't do that. Even so, the team surprised everyone in the first match with a great victory of 5-1 goals. I feel this team will become as strong as manchester city in the premier league in the next few years.

That is what I am wondering about as well, no big names, no star players as we know them from other teams. I mean for example, everyone knows Declan Rice when he played for West Ham United and now he plays for Arsenal. But I couldn't tell anything about any player from Newcastle. Only slowly am I getting an idea about them. But what makes you think that they are a mediocre team? Do you mean because they don't have star players or what is the reason? Their results can't be ignored as they are actually not playing like a mediocre team at all. In my opinion, if they keep going like this now, they are one of the most stable teams in the Premier League. That doesn't make them a competitor for the Premier League title, but when they make it into the top 4 again that is an incredible achievement given their overall investment and salary structure.

Before the match started, I knew it would never be easy for Tottenham to beat Brentford because Brentford is an average team that always gives any big team a tough time in the Premier League, especially in their home game. Tottenham's performance today was not that bad because they were the team that was controlling the pitch, but as you have said, maybe because Kane is no longer available in their team again, it was a reason why it was difficult for them to score more goals that may have led to their winning because some chances were just wasted, which I believe if Kane was available, could have been converted into goals. Now that Kane is not at Tottenham again, we don't really know which player should play that position and be smart like him.

And no doubt if they continue in this confidence they are going to contend not just for the top four on the table but the league title.  News just reaching me tonight that Chelsea have finally signed a done deal with Caceido which means a boost in the defense lines and Enzo moving forward more within the midfield proving his worth. Apart from sterling who's performance today I wasn't impressed with, everyone really gave in their best today even though it ended in a draw.

Both teams tried very well to maintain the score line by avoiding too many goals in the match because, as I predicted before the beginning of the match, I knew that each team would try to score goals; therefore, goal goal was my prediction for the match.

Liverpool's performance was not impressive because they have more Premier League-experienced players than Chelsea, which just signed some players that are yet to get to know the Premier League style of play.

I don’t think having some experience playing just in the Premier League matters a lot. A good and experienced player would still play good football irrespective of moving over to play in a new club and league.

I too had thought both teams could score a goal. I wasn’t quite sure who was going to come out the victor in that game and I agree with you. Liverpool didn’t play with much enthusiasm as I had envisaged. And in my opinion, they’re the lucky ones to have come out of that game with a draw. Pochettino is good when it comes to the building stage tjst i have no issues with,  Chelsea as a club lacks patience so they should be hopeful he is the right manager to give them a trophy or qualify them for the Champions league. The game was great, despite the draw. Even if you look at the stats, you can see that Chelsea have improved, done the work to improve after a terrible season. Against a good team they had over 60% possession of the ball, were completely very good in attack, but apparently they lacked just a little bit to win. Overall, it's just the beginning of the season and it's too early to draw conclusions, but it's a good start.

Despite the draw tonight,I am still very impressed with Chelsea because with the games i've watched so far from preseason,there is every tendency that they will really do well this season,and may surprise everyone just the way Arsenal did last season,I watched their games through out the pre-season and I saw how they had unity and team spirit among themselves, understanding each other more than last season.Pochetino is really doing a great job at his new club  and he has acquired some names that he feel can help them be among the tittle contenders this season,he bought young players that are ready to work and give their all for the club.Now,with the recent agreement with Caicedo of Britton which is a very good defensive midfielder,we are quite sure that the backline will be more solid than before.

But it was also because of the good performance of Flekken under the bar as the last defence of Brentford.
There were some important saves in this match, such as when he kept out Kane and Richalrison.
On the other hand I don't think that Kane's absence from the squad due to leaving has no impact because it definitely has an impact but when looking at the comparison with Kane in the squad with this match I don't think it's too much different and maybe it's not ethical to compare it now because it's only the first match and we still have to wait for how they do in other matches first before judging Tottenham but this defence is still quite chaotic for me.

Summer transfer is still open at least a few more weeks before it closes and this can be maximised by Tottenham only maybe in this case Postecoglou still has a little hope for their defence even though the cooperation of the players is still not compact. because if you see the first goal before the penalty and the second goal there are many players who defend but quite a lot of players also realise that their marking of Brentford attackers is weak.
This should be noted if they expect better results in the EPL this season.

If Tottenham continue this way, they may never play upto their standards again. Nothing is so wrong with the whole team rather it was wrong with Richarlison. I thought that this is the period for the Brazilian to show that he is capable and dependable to lead a club as the top striker. This is the first match and it is not right that we judge him with this.
Meanwhile, I applaud the performance of Maddison. He was a fire in the middle.

Tottenham did not play optimally this time. Maybe Kane's departure really had a big impact on their front line. They should get a replacement player which is also significant. But on the other hand, Brentford is not an easy opponent either. Even though they are quite behind in ball possession and are often attacked by Tottenham, they can carry out a pretty good counter attack. The score of 2 - 2 which made them draw is enough to give each of them very important learning, especially since this is their first match in the EPL season.

I see a beautiful start from all clubs but the problem now is that all clubs are in form, once we get to the middle of the season a lot of clubs start fucking up, to some extent majority of Chelsea's player have improved i did not even expect sterling to play well today,  and also N. Jackson did play well, I did not expect  Chelsea to play well seriously and to some extent there was a lot of pressure on Liverpool, and it was now looking  as if Liverpool is confused, and it got to the extent even sallah was closely marked and when he was removed during the second half he was angry, and I still feel Chelsea is the list club to be scared of talk about Manchester city and others and Liverpool played well defensive game.
