Math for Salah is actually really simple, you just have to answer yourself one simple question. Will you captain him instead of Haaland in some games? If your answer is no, stay away, his price is so high because of his consistency and safe minutes in top club plus his captain appeal.

I think he is good play after GW9 when Liverpool starts their great fixture run.

There are at least 10 games where Salah has the captaincy advantage over Haaland (and yes.. I only chose him because I would alternate captaincy).

By the way, he is currently the only player who has had a scoring touch in all 4 game weeks.

I know you asked it as rhetoric question but I really don't know, it depends a lot on fixtures and form as well. If I was picking now I would change Mitoma for Mbuemo or if he is too expensive for your calculation than to Diaby. I would also probably chose Son over Rashford.

Perhaps I should have rephrased the question as to which combination will outperform at the end of the season.

I agree with you on Salah; he was easy to manage and switch to KDB whenever fixtures were not going well last season, and vice versa, since both players were in the £12-12.5m region. But it's difficult to own him now, and it's much harder to get rid of him without taking a hit. I'd rather stay with one of the many versatile midfield choices available.

Difficult to choose for me.

Rashford can blank in games and they can completely be kept calm by some defenders.

Salah+ Mitoma = £19m

With way Liverpool are playing, Salah will have another successful season for the club, Mitoma is good, but just like Saka and Rashford, some very good defenders can keep him quiet.

Without checking their fixtures, it will be a very hard call to make for me, because It could easily Salah over Rashford for majority of the time, but so it is with how I would easily pick Saka over Mitoma in equal fixtures too, Saka is on penalties and is certain to be on field all day long as well, so both combo makes up for each other one way or the other, but if the fixtures are even, I might go for the cautiously moderate one of Rashford + Saka, then take that +0.4m advantage to go for an additional upgrade across the squad that could potentially make up for any short coming of the choice, if there happen to be one, or an upgrade that could get me the extra point if both combo were to be an even one.

Salah + Mitoma has a combination of 87.9% ICT index and 46 total points from last 4 games.

Rashford + Saka has a combination of 81.3% ICT index and 44 points from last 4 games.

Option B is what I will go for irrespective of their fixtures anyday anytime, it gives you flexibility and you can easily swap between players.

That is always the problem with casual managers, jumping on transfers early and raising/dropping price. Then you have an option to do the smart thing, wait until last moment and just accept you will lose 0.2M while waiting or jump in like the rest of the pack and try to use that price raise to your advantage. Tried both options and I feel like if your team is doing badly then some early transfers aren't that bad since they will raise your squad value. On the other hand if your team is doing well just suck it up and don't risk it.

Problem is it will work for you few times and then you will jump on wrong player that gets injured or leaves to Saudi Arabia which will cost you much more in transfer points.

All that is only applicable in first part of the season, in later stages I will never do early transfer, squad value then isn't so important and injuries are happening much more often do to fatigue and fixture congestion.

At last, there are two types of FPL managers: those who want to make early moves to beat the price and those who prefer to wait patiently and gather information before making a transfer. Those managers (1) who worry a lot about the squad value, in my experience, often fall short on points, whereas the latter are constantly on top of their game.

I went with van Hecke instead of Tierney after GW1, replacing a 4points player. If I did not do that, in GW2 I'd replace Tierney with Gusto, because James got injured.
Considering that I did not have that transfer available, I did it in GW3 when I wanted to exchange Rashford for Son - which I still did not do.

This is a really good example on how 1 really stupid transfer (neither Lamptey or van Hecke would ever be in my starting team) continuously hurts you going forward. It's a mistake I won't repeat with some experience under my belt.

Perfect example really. Transfers are incredibly important and it helps if you look at free transfer as -4 as well. It is never good to spend it on sideways move and bench positions and almost never on goalkeepers.

That being said, if you really want some player and you feel he will make your team better in the long run, take that -4 penalty. I even made -12 penalties which paid off really well in the past. Granted that was usually in double game weeks when you have a high chance of immediate payoff.

Now somebody will say that he played on the left with Kane all the time, but that isn't the same position. With Kane in the team dropping deep, Son was quite central while wings in this new Spurs provide width and have very little goal threat. That position change if permanent could make Son indispensable to our clubs and if I had an easy way to get him into my team or a midfielder I don't longer want in my team I would transfer him in this week.

thought about that, and close to do it, but I don't like bringing in players after they score much points in previous rounds, it looks quite rookie, and usually doesn't pay-off

with all said, I have goal/attack settled for season, if there is no injuries, but midfield is still under construction, and defense is still fragile
main obstacle is that i pledged to have three Everton players, and they play as shit so far, hope that will change in meantime

I for once felt Richarlison would be firing on all cylinders now, but he can't even get himself established at the main center striker, and Harry Kane might have left but the arrival of Maddison would make it rather tougher for either of Son or Richarlison whichever of them can't holding the No. 9 position properly because there's no one getting Maddison off that No. 10 role, and if both of them can't make rain goals anymore then perhaps Postecoglou might just pull his wild card up early, I mean with Veliz Alejo, could EPL have another Erling Haaland in sight ??

On side note; With Manchester United's injuries and internal issues, I would struggle to keep both Bruno and Rashford for GW5. I have £2.4 million in the bank to meet any unexpected expenses. Who knows I'm tempted to bring in Son for Rashford.

I missed that Burnley vs Tottenham game because I was busy watching Chelsea play against Nottingham Forest. The last game I watched Tottenham play was against Manchester United, and Son Heung-min played from the left just as he had played for them in all the games that Tottenham have played in the EPL this season with Richarlison the big flop playing ST. If Son Heung-min scored three goals in his first opportunity of playing ST for the team, then Angelos Postecoglou should let him keep that position that he has earned.

If Nicholas Jackson disappoints me further, I will definitely consider Son Heung-min.

That would be an easy switch if Son was forward in the game. Unfortunately he is midfielder and there is so many good midfielders this season. I just can't get rid of any I already have even though my trust in United could cost me big. Rashford to Son looks nice but I wouldn't be surprised if Rashford outscores Son in next couple of games.

Son is not Jackson alternative - There are other viable options, but if I were you, I would not let him go, at least not right now. He has everything he needs to begin scoring soon.

Bruno to Son is not a bad idea is it?

If you don't mind I'll keep my fingers crossed as I don't have this player.

Besides, I already got rid of Bruno before his price dropped and will probably buy him back next week at a discount. I know that Son would be a great alternative even considering Tottenham's two toughest games, but I prefer to stay away from him at the moment. I'm also seriously considering activating the bench in week 7 as I'm not sure we'll get a lot of double game weeks this season and Luton are having good games.
