It is indeed a threat, a collective such as Anonymous could probably break the private key to Reactor wallet with massive hashrate and the big bonus of over 70K DMD would be theirs to do what they wish with ... target with a good bounty ...

I agree with cryptonit on this. The likelihood of this happening (the way u described it) is very much close to zero. One could keep generating private keys and hope for lucky match.
Such practices are already taking place for bitcoin, so far without much success.

I suggest this be done now to protect invest of a lot of coins.  U do not know the power of Anonymous Smiley
Reactor is indeed a good target as popshot pointed out with 70K+ and only 50K needed for doublespend attack.
U Effin read me wrong, I am all for security of DMD but I will not risk my investment and time in something I do not feel is secure.
I don't think we have to worry about Anonymous. They have morals.
But the NSA/CIA/IMF don't
and their new fancy quantum computers. D Wave 2.
May or maynot have the capacity to crack the blockchain.
I'll side with caution. They wont make an announcement. Lol
The banksters would fund that project to kill crypto.
If they aren't already.
Everyone should watch CitizenFour.
If your not using Tor browser, encrypting your email, limiting your digital transaction signatures,ie using cash
Instead of traceable transactions. Start now.
Encrypt your backup for wallet dat.
Encrypt your hard drive, virtual drives. Wink
Did you notice Best Crypt was finished as soon as Snowden released.
Within a month.
Backdoors are in your modem. Backdoors are in your hard-drives.
I don't understand peoples mindset.
They got backdoors left and right and everyone
Opens the frontdoor.
Even a rabbit keeps his lair secret from the fox.
If people's privacy is unsecure and they accept it,how can their financial endeavors be secure?
Just my opinion , but starting  every address with a known D
Is stupid. Even encrypted. Its a D. Forever. I know it and you know it.
Enigma was cracked from a known. And then it was kept secret it was cracked.
They don't have to steal crypto for it to become worthless. That would show their hand.
Unsecure=worthless

I agree the likelihood of such an exploit is possible but without the use of a botnet such as Anonymous owns is not likely.  I still think to protect network any possible risks must be eliminated.  Do not leave open holes in network.  Roll Eyes

I have looked into this and a collision of wallet keys is indeed possible with enough hashrate.

So do not be a target is most I can suggest Smiley

BTW risc = reduced instruction set computer.  Please learn english.

Obtaining 50k is not that trivial. It's unlikely someone spent so many BTC to attack just for lolz (losing their own invested money in the process).
Reactor is hidden well enough and finding out who holds keys or knows the IP address would be much hassle.

As mentioned before, Diamond due to its mechanics is much better secured (naturally) than so many other pure fast staking PoS coins. I do not believe we are at the top of the hit list, even if such list exists.

It's impossible to protect from this (brute force private key generation) .. it's like someone guessing your password.

Private key generation is easy, but plowing through billions of addresses with the hope the one of them might be the reactor is not something any botnet could do. Google might be able to attempt it but not Anonymous, it's too much to expect from them (with all the respect). Especially if it involves getting hold of 70k DMDs ... it would be cheaper just to buy it on the market.

The only way I can think of not to becoming the target is to keep low profile and not make enemies.

Stay in low profile is not an option but making friends instead of enemies is something we can do rather well. Smiley

IP can be found if u have the knowledge, then it just a matter of gaining root access, and looking at configs to gain access to RPC commands to wallet ... trivial for the truly gifted.  This is just a warning that it CAN be done Smiley

you still need the private key
With a botnet as large as Anonymous I think it could be done to obtain private key  Smiley
Random key searching as opposed to sequential searching is the key Smiley

My job was computer security while I was in US Navy and that carries over into RL.  I will point out issues that concern my own wallet security as well Smiley

At quick glance the wallet has plenty of small 15DMD piles, once they (auto)merge should be better performance.
