I can't get monerujo to sync. I've tried several nodes. Only one node connects, and it has a problem. I'm using a Pixel XL android 8.1 When trying to sync with node.xmrbackb.one, the wallet says -26,416 Blocks remaining. That's a NEGATIVE number. As a test, I tried connecting to node.xmrbackb.one with my laptop. The wallet has been synced recently. I got this: [wallet xxxxxx]: status Refreshed 1504024/1476640, syncing, daemon RPC v1.13
It seems node.xmrbackb.one is behind. And it's the only node monerujo connects to. Clearing the app cache doesn't help. Is the problem on my end or is it with the node? This is worse than trying to navigate Penn Station in a wheelchair.

I got up this morning and it synced on node.xmr.bacb.one. I don't know what was wrong with that node last night, or if monerujo had a problem.
But it still won't connect to node.moneroworld.com:18089, or node.viaxmr.com, or node.xmr.be:18081. I did get it to work on na.node.moneroworld.com:18089. So of the nodes listed at moneroworld.com, a bunch of them don't work?

a lot of the times its because the A record list is too big. If there are too many A records, the DNS server tries in TCP mode (instead of UDP), and some DNS servers don't do that well. The node listing service at the top of moneroworld.com only returns 5 IPs at a time, from the larger list (currently around 30 on the 18089 port). opennode.xmr-tw.org

As an experiment, to see how things have changed, I just took a few Monero and made market for 5 days. That yeilded 23 bp per diem. It's a high p sample size, but - hey - who can keep it up for a couple of months? Anyhow, that is about one third of what the same strategy was yielding in mid 2016 to early 2017. For what it is worth. (But don't let the yeild confuse you: This is not a scalable strategy; the more you deploy, the lower the yield. You can't just compound the rate. Compounded, it is more like sigmoidal than exponential growth. If you want something more scalable, go play EURUSD or USDJPY.)
Anyhow, the market appears, naively and prima facie, to be getting significantly more efficient. Which is good. Now if only Bitcoin would become as efficient! Then XMR could well and truly moon. This absurd BTC correlation must die eventually.

It has began. People on Monero channel are talking about ONION. To the Moon. Yes DeepOnion is not as secure as Monero. But it has potential. TOR is a brand name so for entry level user DeepOnion is a good place to hang out. They have messaging system. DeepVault is working pretty good. I have high hopes for Onion.
You can run Bitcoin or Monero through TOR. What exactly does DeepOnion bring to the table (other than airdrops)? Shillers. How come OpenBazaar doesn't accept Monero?
Is there any non BTC forked coins on it?

Looks like you can get free BCH if you setup a node. https://www.openbazaar.org/blog/bitcoin-cash-giveaway-how-to-claim-your-10-in-bch/

Is this related to all the wallets that got hacked? From what I can deduce, zero wallets got hacked that were not user error/horrid opsec. Just a FUD campaign and/or a few people with shitty luck and poor observation skills. I'll believe otherwise when Ric says there is/was an actual problem. Yes, I still use Mymonero sometimes, as I have since the beginning. Zero issues. People! Don't do high risk things with your devices used for finances, and pay attention to which fishing site you visit

Don't do high risk things with your devices used for finances, and pay attention to which fishing site you visit I read a reddit thread where fluffy said he is taking the hacked accounts serious and that they may not be what I have highlighted in your post. I would link it but I can't search that place but from what I read it looks like he and a security firm are researching the reason while the site is locked. Or some such thing, as per usual my memory is not spot on. Does anyone have that link? It really should have been posted here as well but... OK I FOUND IT, This should have been posted by the DEVS here. This is just to formally note that we're investigating the unusually high number of complaints of theft on MyMonero over the last week. The majority of the cases of theft on MyMonero are related to phishing sites or malware, but there was an uptick in reports and Reddit posts towards the end of last week. It would be irresponsible of us to disregard these or write them off as FUD, and so we are actively investigating the situation, and will update everyone as soon as we're done. In order to ensure that we don't miss anything, we are working with the good folk at MWR InfoSecurity. It would be greatly appreciated if people can be redirected to emailing support@mymonero.com instead of posting things up on Reddit, otherwise it's difficult to keep track of everything. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/7kmzkv/psa_regarding_recent_reports_of_mymonero_thefts/I cannot find any updates though.

It is the first time ever that I hear about Smart TV that can be used by hackers to mine cryptocurrencies It gets more and more surreal. I guess in the future also a fridge would be conquered by hackers to mine whatever

I havn't trusted it since a few guys here got burned and really I only used it for a few coins which back then was pocket change, I think the most I ever had on there was 400 way back. People have to get burned before they stop using web page based wallets I guess. !@$@#$ Binance still down was supposed to be up 10 minutes ago. Fuck

Fuck Ya, that was horrible (was it birr who lost 7k XMR wallet? I remember feeling sick about it at the time, and shortly thereafter removed the bulk of my stash), but IIRC it was resolved to be phishing or MIM, wasn't it? A strike against the internet, not the integrity of the service.
