if you want to retire in 20 years you need allot of bitcoins if the bitcoin value will still be the same as now off course.
|Otherwise the price of the bitcoin needs to be that high that you only need a couple of them but we should never know what the price will be

In 20 years, the price of bitcoin could be $250,000 each, so you need 20 bitcoin to have a very good life.

Lol how can you say that price will be that high after 20 years, as we still don't know what is the life of bitcoin and how long it will survive, so its a waste of time thinking that long.

The real question is if it'll even be around 25 years from now or if something new will take it's place and usurp the throne.

lol i agree with this. in 20 years 2 bitcoin may be worth 2,000,000$ and to me a 2m retirement fund would last if you plan on retiring at 60 and living untill 75 or whatever. specially if you have another income coming in still from ssi or whatever it may be

safe side get 5

if it will peak to 2,000,000$ i`m fine with onl 0.5 btc Smiley
Not gonna happen, that is too unrealistic and you must be dreaming, if that price will be reach then I will be having a problem then, a problem how to spend my money because I have already invested 10BTC as of today.

Indeed its simply just not possible, you have to keep dreaming but do not let your dream take over your mind.
Its also that its even the question if it ever will go higher than 1500 dollar...

If the price of bitcoin is going to be stable at $1,000 for 20 years. I would say thousands of bitcoin is still enough.
Because we all know that bitcoin is always unstable and have changes daily.

That is very conservative, $1,000 in 20 years? I thought you would say like $10,000 is more realistic, remember that every year bitcoin is becoming more popular and that result would always be improvement.

Assuming Bitcoin becomes really successful, anywhere from 250+ bitcoins to 2000+ bitcoins

2000 bitcoins per person is silly.   For certain this cannot be the answer so long as the total is 21 million .

This allows for 10,500 people to be using bitcoin.  This is your grand vision of bitcoin being successful in twenty years time?    Thats less people then now so what you imply is the price will be at least half what it is now.
300 dollars per coin x 2000 is about 600,000.   Sounds alot but if you intend to retire and live twenty years, thats poor.    If only 10,000 people use bitcoin, the idea failed and probably so did the price as little business actually occurs between those people.
If we imagine 1 billion use bitcoin in twenty years, then its amazing.   You really only need to own a few just so long as bitcoin takes off and the price will be high as its used so much

if you want to retire in 20 years you need allot of bitcoins if the bitcoin value will still be the same as now off course.
|Otherwise the price of the bitcoin needs to be that high that you only need a couple of them but we should never know what the price will be
I think that depends of the country he lives and the style of his living. In my country a person can live with one bitcoin for a month easily and after retirement as the expenses decreases may be that turns to six months with one bitcoin.

I think even if he/she lives in a third-world country it would still depend on his/her lifestyle. One or more bitcoin would not be enough if he/she has many things to pay. And also it will depend how much will be the value of bitcoin when he/she retires as we all know the value of bitcoin is very volatile and no one knows if it will rise very much or not.

To be honest it is all going to depend on the price of the Bitcoin at that time and it is impossible to predict the price of the Bitcoin over 20 years.
That is the thing with Bitcoin we are waiting for the future but we do not even know if the waiting is going to pay off.

I agree, it all depends on the Bitcoin price when you decided to retire.  If you happen to have 400 BTC today, I can say you can retire tomorrow because of it's price now.  And visualizinig that after 20 year you have 1000 BTC but BTC price is somewhere less than 1 USD, I don't think you can retire yet Cheesy. So yeah it is base on the amount of Bitcoin and your holdings wether it is wht you need to retire in 20 years.

Off course it will depend on the price of bitcoin in future, if price reaches in millions then even 10 btc can take care of you and if price drops even 100 btc cannot take care of you.

Hey mate, dont underestimate bitcoins, because once the price of bitcoins was in cents and if it can grow to thousands time then still it can grow that much. Though yes its very very tough.

Exactly, your lifestyle will determine your satisfaction. If you just want a simple lifestyle and that would be good because you value more your family than money, 10 BTC would be enough for you.

to live a simple life you don't want much coins, if you want a decent and luxury lifestyle then you need more than 20 coins.
