devs
do you have information from bter? it is main question now.
No.
Haven't you seen the hourly updates on the Bter website?
?
Me neither
Doing little research reveals this:
1) when you send BTC to Bter to your assigned Bter BTC wallet, it is then transferred to the hot wallet: 17o5zDFGNvP5H2iWd7aWbhacwS1HKDE4i9.
2) From the hot wallet, BTC is sent in blocks of 10BTC to the cold wallet: 1M2bv6sypZSp6uAEC9U4Gzvgp6jd29F87e
3) BTC is sent from the cold wallet to the hot wallet in batches of 15 BTC as well, except on 02-14-15 when a transaction of 90 BTC and another of 105 BTC was withdrawn to the hot wallet. 04:23 and 04:24 AM time stamps.
4)
8 minutes later, which is the next BTC block, 7190 BTC were withdrawn from the COLD wallet.

Current balance information had to be obtained from actually looking at the open wallet, as the theft was accomplished in the next BTC block. Checking the Blockchain for current balance would have shown the balance before the 90 and 105 BTC withdrawl.
Physical access could only be accomplished two ways:
a) by actual presence at the computer inside Bter's offices.
b) Real-time malware connection to the affected computer.
For method "a", all that is required to complete the theft is a dishonest employee or owner and failure to close and remove the wallet from the computer after the transaction was initiated.
For method "b", it would be necessary for the computer and wallet to have remained powered up, the wallet still open; the computer still online; and for the computer operator not to have noticed that there was mouse and text activity happening on the monitor.
Occams Razor says that the simplest explanation with the least number of assumptions is most often the correct one.
You be the judge.
BTW, check the blockchain and you will see that there is still activity on the Bter HOT WALLET, with a balance of 140 BTC at last check.
