Hey, thanks for getting this started xtester. I added a link to the moderated thread under important links in the non-moderated thread. Should we add a link to the non-moderated thread under important links here also?

Will do that now. I think having two main threads is bad idea. It is very confusing to new users and new users are important. I think having a moderated thread is very important to keep a discussion focused on NEM facts/updates and not FUD. If the non-moderated thread serves no purpose and is left alone then it will disappear on its own. |

I think a moderated thread is a great decision. Of course, free speech is important but as others have pointed out, trolling does nothing but clutter up the thread and obvious trolls need to be removed from the discussion for the sake of everyone who is trying to participate seriously.

Can anyone actually tell me wtf UP actually did ?
I've seen everything from "oh, it was only one sockpuppet he made by mistake" up to "UtopianFuture makes $100,000 sellling NEMstake, then disappears in a puff of smoke"
So I'm curious as to where the truth might be.....

Can anyone actually tell me wtf UP actually did ?
I've seen everything from "oh, it was only one sockpuppet he made by mistake" up to "UtopianFuture makes $100,000 sellling NEMstake, then disappears in a puff of smoke"
So I'm curious as to where the truth might be.....
In his words he said he had "a few" sockpuppet accounts, another source said he had 60, though I never saw any sort of justification for that number. So probably somewhere between 3 and 60. Some of the inside crew could probably shed some light on the subject. |

Suggestion: I suppose the moderated thread is what NEM will want to show for the greater public. Therefore I suggest taking out from the unmoderated thread the full OP, just leave the title (maybe add "non-moderated" or something), logo, and link to the OP of this moderated thread to make clear difference which one is the bitcointalk official. Also you would have to update only one OP, more simple.
Whenever someone complains about the thread being moderated simply answer with a link to the other thread. But this should be THE thread imo.

Our original thread got locked because the creator left NEM. We created an unmoderated thread that was besieged by trolls, and then we created this moderated one. NEM trolls created at least 5 threads slandering NEM. |

Our original thread got locked because the creator left NEM. We created an unmoderated thread that was besieged by trolls, and then we created this moderated one. NEM trolls created at least 5 threads slandering NEM. Slandering won't matter once people see the coin in action during alpha testing. People are only slandering now because there is no actual product to see so it's easy game, but once we see a release and people begin using NEM, trolling will be a lot harder to do. For now, all we can do is ignore them until the alpha and then hope everything goes smoothly with the alpha launch to avoid any more significant PR damage. I do recommend pushing back the alpha date IF the software is not truly ready to be used yet, because with the recent "bad press" the last thing we need is an extremely buggy public alpha as fodder for the trolls. Delays are much better than having a bad first impression, in my opinion -- well, as long as the developers keep us regularly updated anyway. |

I think once we have cut the troll disease, our community should be able to evolve and bloom again in no time.
With luck! Some really good discussion was developing in the previous threads before the troll infestation. Hopefully this thread will be a haven for such discussion once more. I'll start some light discussion: Should a NEM Mobile app for Android and iOS be a priority for development after completion of the V.1 blockchain?I really would love to see mobile apps released on launch day. Are there any mobile devs here who could make this happen? |
