I also had*thought* a faulty temp sensor on one of the s2 blades but didn't care since it was hashing fine and temps were ok and it would have cost me more to rma it so I lived with it. until this weekend when I cleaned the blades for the first time and removed excess paste on both sides of each blade. when I turned it back on noticed I had temp reading on that same blade that had faulty sensor before so maybe in your case if you have excess paste then it might be the cause I think I will do that next

The huge amount of discards and so low accepted then thats because they are the opposite? discards = accepted and accepted = discards?

It does not seem that way. Some of us got those discards down via a setting mod, and the accepted shares stayed about the same.

is part of the module un plug the fan and place in the other one ie reverse it and see if the temperature shows on the other controller instead. if this does not work then it will be controller and am not sure where the actual temp sensor is no doubt some tiny thing sitting under the heat sync somewhere but cant actually see. Avalon had a wire sensor you can replace and I did exactly that on my avalon.
Antminer on the other hand think its part of the unit built into it. only option try flipping the fan to the other end and flip around see if that sensor works on that one if it don't then it. However having said that this is the S3 I would need to see it in parts to see where the sensor is on it maybe someone already had one in bits and broke down. if looking at one inside with the tiny heat plates then could be under one of them or its built in.
If built in on a tiny resistor sort of thing then you only have 2 options 1 is flashing firmware seeing if that will work or 2 living with it and contacting bitmain about it for poss RMA or some sort of guidance on where location of it is and seeing if damaged.
I have done flashing firmware (twice), unplugged, plugged everything and still no success.

And in my pool im not having problems so.... those discards must be wrong And i dont think im the only one having this issue

thanks for your help
No problem also looking at the inside of the units seems simple enough to stick one on iver side with the tiny heat plates and stick on to middle plate and trace wire up to top and feed the sensor though where one of the 6pins go so can easily connect up to one of the spar molex on psu like said is optional maybe wait for final words form bitmain to see what he can do or might be a cheap way around it. Sorry cant think of anything else but will post again if come up with something new to try.

Refunds what on earth for. Unless I missed something was Bitmain refunding for prices or something on offer for units ? or people just asking for refund of unit?

Since the miners were performing below the initially advertised hashrates, buyers were given the option for a 7.7% refund or 10% coupons. Coupons are issued but the refunds aren't yet.

Ah luckly I have not bought any yet was thinking to buy but with the sha diff on coins going at stupid increases am looking more on the scrypt side of things shortly or maybe wait it out for a unit to deliver power to all algos like x11 x13 x15 and so forth would be interesting. But even with scrypt miners they are out but now face same sort of problems buying in and having massive spikes in diff and making units imposable to brake even. Going to wait it out and see how things progress in the coming months.

I'll repeat because this message seems to keep getting forgotten Ignore discards! They have nothing to do with hashrate, share acceptance, efficiency or anything else of any relevance today. They are an internal value which was only of relevance in the getwork era. Trying to optimise this value is futile, and lowering the value achieves nothing. It annoys the crap out of me that it was ever displayed in these standalone devices because people get hung up about it and it is of zero relevance.

Wow still no refunds nor word from bitmain. I know they are a good company but their communication on this matter has been terrible.

One of my S3 temperature shows as 0 (for both chain 1, 2). How do I resolve this?
I tried to restart, reboot and nothing helped.
Have a look inside the ant miner see if the sensor is actually connected to the board or try removing and re applying it. Make sure unit is turned off when doing this. If it is then you could try firmware update flash with image then reset to see if it comes on if it don't then this looks more of a faulty sensor if none of the above resolves the problem then looks like possible rma. I have the identical problem. Crazy, could you be more specific where this sensor is connected? Should we be looking for something that is just connected up using a couple of wires?
