My 4 s3's are 'out for delivery' but I havn't paid the VAT yet (20%) Hopefully they'll deliver them with no import costs They wont. UPS will collect payment for VAT when delivery takes place. Ah When my two S3s were delivered I had to pay £122.65 for import duty and UPS handling charge. I had to pay DHL £153 for 3 batch 3 S3's. Now I'm feeling ripped off. I had to pay UPS £196.45 for my three machines (batch 3)

OK, so one of my new S3 machines is hashing at 402.75Gh/s. Frequency is 218.75. One of the strings (if that is the word) is showing oooooxo-. Rebooting through the web interface, or physically power cycling doesn't fix it. Reading through this thread the suggestions are
1) Downclock to 212 2) Update firmware 3) Dismantle and replace thermal compound
Which of these is most likely to fix the hashing? Is there anything else I should try?

In order of what to do: 3 - clean it. Get rid of the crap thermal compound they spew all over the chips, screw holes and anywhere else on the PCB they can find to squirt the stuff. Properly apply good thermal compound to the ASICs and reassemble. 1 - clock it at 212. If after cleaning you restart your S3 and still get the "x" and "-", try taking a step down in the clocks. I have to do this with one of my S3s. It will not hash at anything about 212.5; however, it gets a solid 430GH/s at that clock. 2 - updating firmware will have no effect since the newest firmware only provided a fix of the random beeping problem.

I've noticed that you can have the odd x in the ASIC status and either switch completely off and then after a minute switch back on at the PSU and when booted up occasionally the ASIC status 'x's will have gone or sometimes they disappear after running for a few hours say 12 hours.

I switched my S1's off as I needed the PSU to test a motherboard, and noticed how quiet the S3's are. Very quiet. S1's now hashing again.

You also could do nothing and just let it hash at 402GHs. The extra 30GHs isn't probably worth the downtime and effort. 30GHs is worth $0.46 per day at the current difficulty/price.

Power Supply question for individual s3 unit and for 2 s3 units.
Could anyone comment if an - EVGA 500W 80PLUS Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR ( 500 watt ) or
- EVGA 500B 500W 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V 500W Power Supply 100-B1-0500-KR ( 500 watt ) or
- EVGA 600B 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 600W Power Supply 100-B1-0600-KR ( 600watt )
Would work well for 1 s3? If not, why and what might be better?
Also would a - EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W ATX12V/EPS12V 80Plus Gold Power Supply 120-G2-1000-XR
Be good for 2 s3's per psu?
I think I would rather go with single PSU's for each s3 and go with evga brand if possible, but am open to any suggestions.
Thank you in advance, any input is appreciated!

It has done wonders for my 2 machines see charts I have stayed at 430gh note that drop off was a power outage last night due to a T-Storm. These 2 units are in an office building. I have no direct access during non business hours. what I love about s-1's and s-3's is they reboot and fire back up working after black outs no attention or effort on my part. Note after the blackout I am back to 430gh

Can anyone get a db meter and tell me how loud these things are. I currently have knc nov jups that are whisper quiet. I'm planning on unloading the kncs and replacing with more efficient miners (S3 prolly), but have to keep the noise to a minimum.

You can, but that is generally a pretty bad idea unless you like other people hacking into your S3's and entering their own mining information. It's also not a great idea to open up router ports because it makes it more likely that someone will hack into your network. You could have leave a computer on that is connected to your network, and use something like TeamViewer to connect to that computer while you are away. Another option is to setup a VPN connection through your router.

If that's where they want to be then I don't want to waste the extra power trying to keep them at a speed they can't handle.

REFUNDS? The last I got was an email from Bitmain regarding the wallet address to send the refund: webmaster@bitmaintech.com Jul 24 (4 days ago)
Hi, jonnybravo0311: You have requested refund for the hash rate difference of ANTMINER S3, and we will refund you to this address: REMOVED BY ME, which is provided by you. If this address is correct, you don't have to do anything and don't reply this email. If this address is incorrect, please forward this email to info+refund@bitmaintech.com and tell us the right bitcoin address. We will not ask you for username and password, please ignore those questions when you get a phishing email. Recently we find some attackers are impersonate Bitmaintech.com to phish. Please don't open those .jar files attached in those email. Thank you very much!
Since then, not a peep out of Bitmain. My refund still shows as "Init" in the Applications on my account page on Bitmaintech.com

I still haven't received my 7.7% BTC refund. Has anyone else received theirs yet? Come on Bitmaintech, you expect payment for orders within an hour but when it comes to a small refund we have to wait weeks. BTC is supposed to be instant.
I have not received mine either.
