Months means the markets can change even more so. I think completely oppositely: Use technical analysis more so in day trading. Dissonance between the fundamentals and the price shows opportunity for longer trades. Markets follow reality and not just predictable price patterns. If you can figure out something most others cannot then you can make good decisions. No doubt most people are clueless to the silver and gold manipulation and economics... knowledge of which puts people into an advantage.

like i asked the other day; i really need a new router and i'd like to sell 1 physical gold ounce for what i believe is the real physical price of gold which i think is around $2400 right now.  could you please direct me to the place where i can sell for that price and get USD cash?  i need this right away.

I want to know if there's life on Mars without being able to go there myself. I can read fiction and non-fiction stories others have published about the planet, or make inferences from my own observations. Of course, the only way to know for certain is to obtain direct evidence.

We can believe one thing and be proven entirely wrong when the evidence comes to light. The golden fiction has been analysed and found to be lacking. A lie can only be maintained so long as the evidence remains out of reach. Enough evidence is available to strongly suggest the official line is a lie.

The problem: not enough people are aware there is evidence, let alone that gold is much more valuable in fiat terms. The people who do have all of the evidence intend to manage the chaos that would ensue from a rapid disruption in the financial dynamic, and public dissemination of that knowledge could break the already tenuous control that exists now.

You can tell pretty easily when something goes viral. That's when the secret has nowhere left to hide and the lie burns away. For now, people are exchanging physical gold at paper gold prices; there is no publicly available clearing house for physical gold yet. So we wait.

This analogy is both amusing and not inappropriate.

Cheesy

I would, however, note that one is more likely to succeed by knowing their enemy and choosing the time and place of a conflict.

That we agree on 100%. I choose Bitcoin!

I am looking forward to seeing more and more (real & false) prophets start using this "Prediction Registry", if they dare.
  http://www.davidbrin.com/predictionsregistry.htm

Interestingly, time stamping predictions is one thing bitcoin blockchain will be good at.

I like that idea - it'd help with re-assessing ideas and estimations.

As do I of course.  I do try to have a balanced inventory of tools at my disposal and need to deal with the classic problems that that challenge presents.  I'm not looking for or forward to a fight, but do wish to be prepared for such an eventuality.

If one plans to flip PMs there is little reason to be dealing with physical and a lot of reasons not to be (imho.)  If one is worried about being MF-Global'd playing with ETFs or something like that, one can still hold a core position in physical.

Thats what I do, bout half physical and half miner stock/etf (in my online brokerage IRA)

this call was made on 9/12/11 on pm miners:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=35956.msg522374#msg522374

how have they contributed to your portfolio?

My miners haven't done anything but go sideways for awhile.  Doesn't mean I'm going to abandon ship when the writing is on the wall for them to go higher.

I'm still waiting for gold to "collapse".. That you called for a month ago, in THIS thread..

If I'd have taken your advice in THIS thread, I'd be down 12% right now, on my coin....

vs. only down 3% on my Physical Gold....

Luckily I didn't sell off my gold to buy coin Wink.

give it time.  we're consolidating before the next collapse.
the gold collapse call started back in 8/9/11.  this thread was just a continuation of that call.

your miners are getting killed.  here's GDXJ, the juniors, which started 11/09.  almost back to all time lows:

All depends on where you bought them.   I've bought miners a few times in the last year, when they were down.  Overall, I'm not down much.  I'm tempted to buy even more right here, looks like a great opportunity.

most bulls buy juniors as well and they've taking a massive beating.  so you didn't buy any?

edit:  even the majors are down almost 33% in the last year.

There's been a couple downcycles in the smaller silver miners over the last year.  I was buying.  I will continue to buy these dips.

The Fed is printing money like mad, and about to print it even faster.

you can't possibly know all the fundamental factors involved that go into the price of gold. this is why technical analysis is so important.
Of course. I can't possibly know all the factors to predict the weather. But I can be pretty much sure that there will be summer after a spring.

Not really. I believe it's called Heliocentrism.
No technical analysis is required to understand the nature of this cycles - just a bit of astronomy Smiley

I was going to address your winter boots comment to suggest now is the best time to buy them since demand is minimal, but you seem to want to avoid that discussion since you removed that part of your post Smiley.

Indeed, I got the added second sentence (about not buying winter boots nowadays) removed, after I had the first one answered.

Stocks are down; gold and silver are steady. One day does not make a trend, and the typical CoT reporting games may still occur.

Anyway, the dynamic is unfolding exactly as FOFOA, Mike Maloney, et al. have described. Bitcoin is a great protector, but it's still foolish to discount physical precious metals.
