Another idea came to mind.....

Say I create 3 plot files and use one instance of Blago miner on Drive C.

Then use fastcopy and copy them to Drive D
Without changing the file names, nonces etc I run a second instance of blago miner.

running the same named files separately can't overlap right. They are on different drives even though they are named the same they are used with separate running blagominer

All the copied instances will find the same "best" nonce from your plot files - your x min y secs nonce from plot one will not improve on the x min y sec identical nonce from plot two. There is no "cheating" the system, the space you make available to unique nonces is your mining capacity - there is no beating the system.

H.

Not cheating the system in fact its a pain to make plot files. Using wplotgenerator I made them for 4 days on a 8gb drive and they are crap.
Waiting 3 -4 days for a plot common. If I have a 2tb drive filled with good plots then I'm going to image it to another drive and not change the numbers. Much faster.

I can you be right about a unique nonce when I created 4 500gb plots all the same file size , a different number anyone can change.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your copying your nonces across multiple hdd's, and mining them all, yes? BURST doesn't work like this. Copying the nonces means your going to read the same data twice, and that you have two or more copies of the same nonces, and less unique nonces means less hashpower. You need to individually plot each hdd with different nonces, ie: different plot files

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Pretty cool to see this type of enthusiasm, but maybe the timing for something like this is off? With bitcoin rising and literally every alt coin bleeding out I think it would be hard to raise any awareness.

I have always thought that if a community is going to raise funds it would be better to raise funds to pay for a unique development to the coins usability rather than a marketing campaign. Just my 2 cents, nothing personal of course.

On a side note I really like this coin and don't think it will go away, been buying for a while now.

Actually I think now is the time to promote it, because since BTC being strong, people can buy more BURST with their money.

So now is the perfect time to invest in BURST and raise awareness.

I`ll do the first part of the campaign in a few hours, regardless. Then if people want to donate BTC do it to the address for further promotions:

The marketing campaign hasnt even started yet and we already see some increased activity in this thread, thats a good step atleast!

The campaign will start in a few hours after my transactions go through, yea it takes a lot of time to transfer altcoins. So stay tuned.

Plotting takes too long. Yes I take a couple good plots and copy them to a new drive. However I successfully renumber those starting numbers and check using the overlap tool. I always use Blago and Jminer however. The new jminer revision might of corrupted the correctly plotted 8TB hard drive.  I also mined over them with the miner that we weren't supposed to use with these plots. They are all bad. Tell me which one and I'll delete it.

Doesn't everyone agree plotting is time consuming. Is it because I have  a dual core machine and not a quad? I can  upgrade to Q9650

Renaming the files does not change the contents - and it's the contents you're mining with. Renaming the files will just make the contents seem corrupted.

Plotting takes time, you just have to live with it. I didn't plot 100TB overnight - it took weeks, but if you're going to mine burst, you have to invest the time to do it properly.

You need to plot each and every GB - use the GPU plotter, it's so much faster than the CPU plotter.

As Haitch stated, changing the names does not change the contents, and you are mining the contents, not the name.

But yes, an old core2duo will take a very long time to generate plots, as that is a very weak cpu by todays standards. It took me slightly under 4 days to plot 16TB with a 4.5Ghz i5 4690k, as all I else I had was an Nvidia 560Ti, and my cpu could generate plots faster then my gpu could using opencl. So I would estimate that it would take a week or more to plot the same space using any core2duo cpu, even overclocked considerably, as I know what those old beasts were like.

Awwww yeah that's me! Just happen to be checking out the miner and seen this for the first time.

12:52:41 [17908512605713200237] found DL:            334
12:52:42 [17908512605713200237] sent DL:             334     0d 00:05:34
12:52:42 [17908512605713200237] confirmed DL:        334     0d 00:05:34
12:53:06 Thread "D:\Burst\plots" @ 26.3 sec (17.7 MB/s) CPU 73.27%
12:53:10 Thread "F:\Burst\plots+G:\Burst\plots" @ 30.7 sec (15.1 MB/s) CPU%
12:53:11 Thread "E:\Burst\plots" @ 31.8 sec (16.6 MB/s) CPU 69.91%

Winner: 335s by 9X5F-CMHL-9YJB-HKY3K (Garbear)
Winner's pool: P3G9-9EJ3-3DQX-3WGDS (pool.burstcoin.de)

Does that mean the 334 DL was the lowest found on that block from all miners mining burst?

Can anyone point me to a Mac Guide For getting Started With BurstCoin and BurstCoin Mining
This if for the wallet, i can make 2 more for plotting and mining

THat db.burst-team.us link is for the Blockchain DB only there is nothing else in the zip file

NJC - yep. Download the regular wallet, then drop the db from the zip into the burst_db directory. This way you can download the wallet code from a trusted source, and then drop in an up to date db.

NJc, thanks for pointing that out - I checked it out, and there was a problem with the update process. Problem resolved, and the current db is now up there.

So I am pretty new to CPU mining and Burst mining. How are the two related? From what I understand burst mining uses your HDD and CPU mining uses your processor.

So if I am CPU mining a cryptonote coin why would mining bust effect my hash rate? Does burst somehow effect your CPU as well? Obviously I lack some crucial understanding....could someone help me out? Thanks
It depends on your configuration. Before you begin mining you should plot your HDD and this takes 100% CPU. For a lot of TB plotting could take quite some time. Then you'll need some CPU once each 4 minutes. On many processors it's better to mine cryptonote only on half the cores (or even less). Mining BURST shouldn't bother if this is the case and you only mine with 1 or 2 HDDs.

Thanks for the input, so I have 2 desktops to play around with. One is a newer i7 processor that I'm guessing is quad cores because miner gate says I have 8 cores available. So I have been mining crypto note with it. The other one is like an early 2000 Intel celeron. If I got a couple TB hard drives could I plot on the celeron or is it useless to try and mine on a cpu so old? Aside from that is miner gate the way to go on cpu mining or could I find something more profitable to solo mine?
