Some significant amount of Gems is being rained in the troll box group, the added gifs make it hilarious.

I have a little question.
I have the gemz app but whne i installed it i had a phone number which i dont own anymore but I am still have the gemz app on my cellphone.
If i want to use the app as my wallet, will that give me any trouble withdrawing anything at some point?

Don't think so, if you have the passphrase saved you can always get access to your gemz, even if you get another phone. But you should be able to withdraw your gemz even if your phone number is changed, i would wait for daniel to confirm.

IMPORTANT: Updating to Android version 449 or iOS version 1.17 will require to open a new account. Step 1, write your passphrase if you haven't done so already. Step 2, in-app BTC balance will show zero. Your existing BTC will need to be transferred to the new BTC wallet address using https://bip32jp.github.io/english/recovergems.html (type your old passphrase) for the BTC to be displayed by the App. Your app sucks. You are lucky no one uses it or this would have been a disaster.

Last time i checked the app had a 4.5 star rating on the play store, won citis mobile challenge, been on r/bitcoin frontpage multiple times in couple days, had more than 10k wallets opened and been written about in the coinbase blog https://goo.gl/bFnUHs. That update what you are talking about isn't hard to understand, by default everyone must store their passphrase and even when they upload to a new version they can recover their btc anyway so no btc is lost and it's no rocket science. It was posted at a time where the app didn't had many users, all new users don't have to do this. As is true for most software, the developers are at liberty to make changes at any given time if needed, same as btc, eth etc.

Nice article... although a small technical error where it says the Gem(z) wallet/transfers is on the block chain. It is off chain, so stored on Gems' server(s). But, easily mitigated by not storing the bulk of your Gems in the GetGems wallet, but in a couterparty wallet.

Regarding the $400,000 investment in the seed fundraising, what does Magma the investor get for return? Did they get $400,000 worth coins for return or somehthing else in the future for return?

Regarding the $400,000 investment in the seed fundraising, what does Magma the investor get for return? Did they get $400,000 worth coins for return or somehthing else in the future for return? They probably get some kind of share of the company, not sure tho but got this from their website. Magma provides resources, mentorship, entrepreneurial expertise, and experienced foresight from the earliest stages of a company's foundation. Our active Pre-Seed program invests up to $500K in Start-ups through an accelerated investment process to finance the first year of a Start-up's activity. During that year, the Start-up's goal is to reach target milestones that will facilitate future financing.

I thought the gemz was the sole income resources within the ecosystem of this project if it takes off in the future. If there are company stock shares, how will the company make profit besides the gemz?

While your wallet and the messenger element of the app is decentralised and encrypted end to end the app obviously has some centralisation to maintain and develop the store etc. IF successful the company would have some power in how the app connects to traders etc so would have some revenue streams I imagine. I remember from the beginning of the project Getgems as a company would clearly have some revenue possibilities BUT in comparison to the average centralised app their potential is likely to be peanuts cause most advertising revenue would be given to the user but a small commission for maintaining everything is inevitable and deserved......no one should work for free.

No, no one should work for free because it will not be sustainable for working free. That is why I try to understand the revenue model of this project. There is a pie in the future if successful and I hope the devs and the crowd fundraising investors and the seeding fundraising investor are very clear which slices they will get. If it is not clear and transparent, there will be problems in the sustainable development.

I Like GEMZ ,just as a advertisment for BTC and crypto ill give it 10stars.There are a few issues i dont like of functionality though, like inviting friends is hard as i can only invite my chats and not my contacts. And i cant withdraw my GEMS?I read here its possible but i cant add a address to send too.Oh and if i hit backspace it deletes two letters. All in all a nice app and a brilliant idea.

You can add contacts, just send them your referral addresss. You can withdraw your gems, although I belive its a bit delayed as they are doing it manually for the time being. On android you just hit send gems, then either scan QR or paste from clipboard. (not sure how its set up on iphone)
