Hello All,

I'm new here. I just started to solo mine here today.

If you have any recommendations for me on how to make the most out of it, I'd be grateful.

For now, I only have an old Antminer S3. Does it make any sense?

Is a high number of "Discarded" normal?

I had high rejected on my s3's so I updated the s3 to the kano firmware and the ratio did drop it also sorted out the high load issue too.

You can find the updated s3 firmware for kano update here if you know how to ssh into the device it is very easy to install just copy and paste in the commands.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.msg21422964#msg21422964

https://bitbucket.org/TheKano/cgminer-binaries/src/f5884bfece7a8dfd48550cb172272212459be51c/AntS3/?at=master

Follow the guide you should have no problems.

You will always get some rejected shares even after the update but the load should be lower and it updates the gui with more relevent status.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.

I updated the firmware... there's less rejected for sure, but the speed has gone way down too... or I don't know what's happening, but the miner seems to stall after a few minutes and the GH/s value drops (currently 1.613).

What did I do wrong? How do I go back? Cheesy

Cheers.

Did you do the commands

Code:
cgset
sync
reboot

You should also power cycle the device unplug it for a moment then power it back up.

I did... it slowly seems to normalize, but the acceptance rate still seems slow (although I have no mean to really compare).

I'll let it run for a while and see.

BTW, is it possible to mine to both de.ckpool.org and solo.ckpool.org at the same time in load balancing or this makes no sense?

Cheers.

You need to let your miner build up you always get rejected when connecting to the pool its normal watch it for 24 hrs let the miner do its work with the pool.

Here is a status for one I restarted.

Elapsed   GH/S(paid)   GH/S(5s)   GH/S(5m)   GH/S(15m)   GH/S(avg)   FoundBlocks   HW   HW%   Utility   WU   BestShare

Hello,

I am new to the pool. Currently I have an avalon 741 pointed at the solo pool, hashing around 9 TH/s. I was wondering how do you find it out if you find a block? does it say it somewhere on the user stats page?

The reward appears immediately in your wallet, your stats bestever share will be better than current network diff, it will be announced here on the thread, and any wallet monitor such as an online one would inform you of the reward payment.

Hmm... what if a block is found by me and not rewarded to me?

P.S is it really that hard to find a block by yourself?

It is a lottery the only thing that matters is your total hashrate so the more hashrate you have the more chance you have.

I don't have much hashrate here but was thinking we could make some kind of "Syndicate" sort of we know that the only thing that matters is total hashrate so if a few people were to throw power at the pool in a collective that would add higher chance?

Is that theroy correct ck?

Yes that's correct and this has been done successfully (and unsuccessfully) in the past. It is entirely up to you to coordinate people and payouts between you though since the reward only goes to one address. If you wish to use me as escrow to send out payments to multiple people I would do so for a 1% extra fee if I get all the addresses and proportions to give out in advance.

CK I would really enjoy setting up such a OP,  My main concern was how would people trust such a idea but again there you hold the answer with escrow being via the pool.

I will draft up a short topic and idea and shoot you a PM to talk over the escrow for the OP.
