Hello,
Does this pool "accepts" stale shares? Or stale share submission should be disabled in cgminer?
There's no reason to care about stales since you only ever get paid for a share that finds a block
|
If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer. Always be on the look out, because you never know when you'll be stalked by hit-men that eat nothing but cream cheese....

Don't insult me, I don't care about campaign, mate. I've had this advert profile for 2 years I'm not even sure if they pay any more. Look at my posts I am a genuine forum user. I am learning stuff about solo mining. My miner tries to send stale shares (as default in cgminer), with difficulty 10 or something, where pool expects 10k most of the times. Then miner gets disconnected because the pool doesn't like stale shares, looks like it. So I am asking here, if that's the default behavior? Submitting stale shares is pointless, I know that now, but disabling it should be recommended for everyone, as you should not get disconnects. Which newbie knows about that? Not many of them. It would be nice to have this on the first page or on the website - disable stale share submission in cgminer instruction. Don't you think?

Don't you think? 2 minutes of nothing but invalid shares and you'll get disconnected. That's not the same as stale shares. No proper cgminer would ignore the difficulty sent to it and continue sending fucked up 10 diff shares, unless you're using some broken shit arse fork, of which there are lots of I guess.

I deleted this campaign from my profile. It's gone past its use before date anyway 2 minutes of nothing but invalid shares and you'll get disconnected. That's not the same as stale shares. Thanks! I disabled stale share submission and everything seems to be normal now, continue mining as usual, but less dramatic now, with no disconnects. Yeah I agree I must have some shitty fork. But it at least works for now

Blocktrail was aquired by bitmain in 2016 and since Bitmain is losing money fast it has been closing offices all over the world including the one in Amsterdam (Blocktrail was a dutch start-up) so no surprise that Blocktrail is closed as well. Besides, with the btc.com explorer, Bitmain already has a block explorer so no sense in keeping blocktrail alive separately.

It is certainly not nice, but pool still have all chances to find a block. Still waiting. Who knows when pool find one right hash. Need someone lucky

@ck Stupid question of the day and delete afterwards please Can another entity attack a Bitcoin server like a ddos attack? I would assume you monitor the packet data

Sure, there have been many DDoS attacks on pools in the past. They were targets for extortion and the bigger pools had no protection against them, and it forced them to buckle to pressure and provide some kind of protection. All it can really do is take the server offline for the duration. This pool is so incredibly small that no one gives a fuck and actually has some DDoS protection provided by the hosting provider. If they were to attack this pool with more bandwidth than the protection provided and demand money, I'd just wait till the DDoS was over. I think all the miners here would be understanding enough and just accept downtime.
