The most important thing when you consider the price is to keep wishful thinkings away.

On the contrary. Wish for the best. Prepare for the worst. No sense in planning for mediocrity.

The primetime could be delayed if bitcoin is not ready yet, not denied. There is no mediocrity here, bitcoin has already been beyond amazing.

I'm not pumping or pushing... I'm happy with the status quo and bullish long-term. Harshing everyone's bull-buzz isn't going to magically improve adoption either.

I still think the biggest joke on us would be $100 per btc on April 4th....however we're likely to very well exceed that by the current pace.

Where was that joke? What's so special about April 4th?

look for example at the 18 day exponential average in this chart:

I'm guessing people are waiting for a smack-down similar to that. They think the price is too high... until it gets higher. Then they think it was low before and why the f... didn't they buy and at some point decide to screw it and actually buy.

It's hard to believe bitcoin can just keep going up ("what goes up has to come down at some point")

Indeed.

Remember kids, the longer Bitcoin operates, the more valid a store of wealth it becomes. The more "tests of time," so to speak, it will encounter.

What goes up, always came down... until Bitcoin.  Cool

Albeit eventually something better than Bitcoin will come out and the price will tank, or maybe not. Maybe it updates to keep up with the quantum revolution. That is easily 15 years or more away.

The more belief we get in the system, the more brilliant it shines.

Just for the record: I'm totally with you. Bitcoin ain't coming down again, not against the USD.

EDIT: Better answer: 'Daddy, what is a dollar? '

'A unit of weight used for gold. However the meaning was during a short period of time alienated by slave-drivers to mean a slip of paper with certain patterns printed on it.'

84!

only page 810! we need to post moar if we are going to get to page 1000 before btc gets to 100!

As of now im not even sure about that, if we hit first the page 1000 before btc hits 100$ or otherwise..

The real question is: when will we reach postcount-parity?

"Bitcoins are fascinating, for mathematicians, economists, traders, investors, politicians, regulators, and anarchists. And while watching the currency develop is entertaining, the experimental currency is no place for serious investing given the risk versus reward. Attempting to trade in established currencies is difficult enough."

Although I guess any publicity is good publicity.

I could have lived with it if they had said 'the experimental currency is no place for serious investing given the risk ', wouldn't have agreed, but that would be ok.

But 'risk versus reward'?  Seriously dudes?  Guess that makes the writer a smarter investor than the rest of us here, who just happen to have had a pretty decent reward these past couple of months  Grin .

Everyone is quick to suggest recent performance is an indicator of future performance, but then quick to shoot down anyone suggesting that a past bubble won't indicate a future bubble. I'm confused, why the inconsistency?

I think there will be lots of bubbles in the future.  In fact, I think the rate of appreciation we are seeing now is unsustainable, and we'll have a decent downturn in the not so far ahead future.  Question is : from which level?  $100, $300, $750?  Who the fuck knows?
Personally, I have thought that bitcoin below $100 was a no-brainer for long-term investment (still taking some profit from time to time though)
